What term retirement usually denotes to is, to stop working. People often don't like job, so to retire usually tends to be on top of the list. However, if one likes what he does, he will do something similar to pass the time even after retirement.

Now, I'll be honest, I dunno what I am driving at but I wanted to spark topic about retirement. Now, you go,
First, retirement does not entirely mean to stop working, it's just to stop actively working on a particular sector/job. This means that those who say they are retiring might have many activities they are engaging in that are fetching them money outside the main job, so it goes on like that. Especially if the person is making money through their hobbies or what they love doing the most, they, of course, would continue to do it while they retire from another job that might be out of passion or as a result of their age, time-limit by law and other considerations.

I can't even imagine myself retiring totally, this kills me more than anything. Human beings need active activity till death, this is so important if the person is such that doesn't exercise so often. Also, those people who I know who retired from their primary jobs in my country are still engaged in several activities, but the only difference is that they do it at their convenience time and with pleasure, not when they are forced to do it or have the influence of compulsion over them.

That's the difference, and again the reason why you hear some people saying they are "retiring to something." It merely means leaving their main job for something else, and this doesn't stop the person from earning as well, only that it will not be as stressful as before in most cases as they engage the latter with ease even as they consider their age.

We can see retirement not as an end but as a beginning of something new.  It is not possible to innovate something new from time to time work.  It is better to focus on your own business or organization than to work under someone's.  It will give you an opportunity to work stress free. If someone retires and devotes full time to bitcoin forum then he can do good from this too.  I never support someone's subordination.  You should employ oneself and liberate one's ego.  You should enjoy life and not waste time chasing money.

When you retire, that only means it's time to leave your job and focus on your own welfare by enjoying the remaining days of your life. Old age is inevitable so we have to face it more wisely. And by being wise, which means if you are still able to work then continue working but be mindful already on your health and body, as they said old age deteriorates also the body and mind.

However, that is an individual's choice. While some still want to use their skills and work all day, others just want to live the best days of their life by traveling with their family or enjoying picnics with them and making more meaningful memories with the family.

My focus as a condition to good long term retirement is overall health and physical fitness - this goal will be in the first year of my retirement. I know it may be boring and lacking purpose, and I can easily solve this by taking on many paid and unpaid jobs out there. Additionally, I hope to have built up a lot of self-awareness during my working years to be able to take action to keep moving in the right direction. People with a lot of life and work experience have a lot to offer to their community, and being involved in community work is something I would do after retirement.

It’s still a good idea to stay active & engaged even after retirement. Continuing to do something meaningful can have numerous advantages including maintaining mental & physical health, it gives you a sense of purpose & staying socially connected. It could involve doing hobbies, volunteering, learning new skills, starting a small business or even working part time. Taking part in activities post retirement can provide a sense of fulfilment, structure & continued personal growth. It also allows retirees to contribute to their communities & enjoy a more fulfilling & rewarding retirement lifestyle.

He can never be classified as a greedy man, take a look at it, he owns the company like you said if he stays at home he still makes his money nothing changes even if he goes to work. He pays the workers he's in control and he can make a call for all workers not to come to work for as long as he desire, so I can't place a man with such right over his work as greed except he starts making life a living hell for his workers like not paying them complete salary when there's enough money to do so, that's it.

I think this is normal because the goals of private companies are like that and it is not an easy task and the company also does not want any financial losses, meaning they always maintain the company's performance. The main boss in a private company generally has a concept like this, how much income can be generated to increase the company's profits at the cash close at the end of the year even though he does not work on site.

It is just. The hope that workers need from their superiors is that their superiors are able to create balance, meaning that they must also be fair and responsible towards their workers rather than their share of workers to continue working to generate income

IMO, retirement for me is not to totally stop working at all and chill for the remaining days or years of your life, but for me it's like freeing yourself from stressful job usually when you're working under a company for how many years without being able to have enough time for yourself or your family. Retirement for me is being able to do whatever you want without worrying about finances in general, because you have already saved enough for your retirement including insurances and investments.
Though most people is looking forward for their retirements because they don't like their jobs, but for me it's not that way. I actually like my job and it's pay but I'm also looking forward for retirement so I could finally enjoy and control my time without being worried and stressed out on my job. We all want to live a happy and peaceful lives and the only way we know we can achieve that is when we don't need to work to earn money anymore. Being rich might be an answer to that, but rich people do also have a lot of stressful problems financially.

Some people who have reached their retirement age they do work it out to extend their stay in an organization they find themselves, I don't know if I should call it greed or not but is like they enjoy what they gain from their place of work and is hard for them to let go.
I don't think is only women who pray to retire so they can go look after their family, some men do have that thinking also, in some cases some people who are not satisfied with what they're seeing at work just see retirement as a way to get out of working.
Don't consider every person who is still at work when they reached a retirement age; as greedy, like I said in my last or previous comment, what is keeping them in that office could be passion, that is, love for what they do, we have many people like that.

Here in my area, I know of an old man who still goes to work, he owns the company, has more than enough money to just relax and enjoy life before he dies, but his driver still drives him to work every day from monday to Friday..

Can you still say this man is greedy? Of course not, he owns the company like I said, if he relaxes at home, he wil still be making his money, but then, he decided to keep working, possibly because, he loves his job as the CEO of the company, and having to relate with his workers every day makes his day fulfilled. So many people are like this.

I get your point but I'm not really pointing them as greed per say, is just that whenever it's time for a worker to go he or she have to go, where it has to be as the act of greed is when they do push the time or year of retirement forward, like a worker is suppose to retire by 2023 but he or she had to work it out to be 2026 that's where greed comes in. And if it's time you make way for others to come in, younger ones to have a feel of that organization too, it mustn't be you, you know? Let that love and passion be.
Speaking about the man you said owns a company, that's a different things, he's the boss and nobody can serve him letter of retirement because he's old which he knows. My company my business I do whatsoever I do please, the other workers would respect that and nobody have the right to query him on his decision of still coming to work. He can decide to serve the driver a retirement letter and that would stand, but as the owner of the company everything is under his care and control. And him going to work is not to do much but to relaxing.

Retirement does not mean you don't like the job, you just age and everyone basically does. You couldn't work forever 'coz there are factors to consider; physical capacity to work, health capacity, and life satisfaction wherein won't you be wanting to enjoy life at least before you get to that 'point' of every living organism? Now another factor is the age you will be choosing to retire. There is an early retirement option to some people especially those who are financially stable already before meeting the retirement age. Some are retiring early due to health conditions. So I'd say it is quite of a privilege to employees.
Most people do not want to think about retiring early if they have not yet reached retirement age or their working capacity and health are still guaranteed. Maybe they are passionate and love their job or because they want to work and make money. I see many people thinking about retiring when they reach age but they continue to do personal work or open a business. There's a lot to worry about financially, depending on each country's welfare system and conditions. If someone wants to think of retiring early, it means they have other plans, a preference for more free time, or simply time to take care of their family.

Everyone's expectations from retirement are different. Some people like to work and have their daily routine, while others like to sit down and do things they want from time to time. One of the most important things to say about retirement is that the pension should enable a person to live comfortably.

It is also difficult for people who have been working for years and have a habit to make a retirement decision. As you mentioned, there are people with different expectations. While some continue their habits, others may hesitate to enter a new life that retirement will bring.
It just depends on the situation. Those who are still doing their hobby is a different context from working for ir, at their retirement age. Doing it as a hobby doesn't require you the same amount of time. Also to consider, would they still be paid if they would do the same thing upon retirement?

According to Google, retirement refers to the time of life when one chooses to permanently leave the workforce behind. But if you are still capable to work despite of your old age, then I don't see stopping from work is necessary. You can still work if you want depending on your choice. And if you can manage your own job, then that would be better as you can be your own boss. As long as you're still productive, working will still be possible.

But on the other hand, working at its old age might be very risky already especially that at this age, serious diseases might possibly occur. So you have to be cautious on your health, and just stop working immediately when you think your health is not capable to work anymore.

There are many people who enter their retirement age decide to continue to working, it can be influenced by various factors, and it's not solely driven by greed. Dedication to the work or desire to stay active are few of the reasons. Motivations can vary from person to person. Some people may genuinely enjoy the work they do and find a sense of fulfillment in their professional roles. Others may have financial considerations, such as the need for additional income or a desire to secure a more comfortable retirement. Everyone's circumstances and priorities are unique.

On the other hand, There are people who may eagerly anticipate retirement as an opportunity to shift their focus to other aspects of life, such as family, personal interests, or simply enjoying leisure time. This perspective is not exclusive to any gender, as both men and women may share similar aspirations for their post-retirement lives. Dissatisfaction with work can indeed be a motivating factor for some people to see retirement as an exit from an uncomfort professional environment.

Some people who don't want to retire early, of course they don't like the challenge of developing more from the work they do, some employees, because some people who choose to retire early, of course they want to build a business to be able to earn more income than working as an employee.
Of course, those who take early retirement just to take care of their family are women because they want to take care of their own family rather than having someone else take care of their family.

Retirement doesn't mean you're too lazy that you tired of working and you don't like stressing yourself, in some places whenever a worker has reached his retirement age is like a thing of joy (because some don't live to see the day they retire) and some even intended to start up something to continue the hustle.
Some do that because their body have become too accustom to working and any day they spend without doing something that's related to work is like something is missing in their day to day activities.
But in some cases, some worker who are too lazy doesn't engage in anything after retirement other than sitting at home and wait for their monthly allowance to come, it goes two ways, the lazy ones and the ones who find it hard to stop working.

A hobby is something that a person cannot possibly give up even if that person is old and retired, so direct your hobby to something positive and constructive.  Most people misunderstand the meaning of retirement, they think that retirement means immediately stopping activities, even though the retirement period should still be used productively, there are many successful people today who emerged because they retired early from their old jobs and then they became strong. be creative and make great things, be creative and keep honing the skills or hobbies you have for your own development.

In my culture, retirement doesn't really mean stop working, it means "stop working for money", and those are different things. If you stop working, then you do need to have some money to be able to not work and still be able to live, so they do look the same, but retired person who has money enough to be able to stop working but still does whatever they want is considered retired as well.

I know plenty of people who has enough money to stop working and just sit at home all day, but that's very boring to do for many years, you can't just sit at home until you die, you need to go out do something if you are capable, of course many who are 80+ years old do stop working, but you may retire at 60, that's too young to stop working, so they just end up doing something they like, even if it is taking care of the garden all day, doesn't matter, it could be a job, it could be anything. My dad is 60+ years old, he can retire with the money he has, but still works at his job for the past 20 years.

When I retire I hope to become a venture capitalist sort of like those investors we watch during shark tank series. That is what I truly aspire to do when I retire. And by retirement not at 65 years old but something at 40 years old or 45 years old. I just want to experience the fun of doing something I feel I would love investing in company making more money and helping startups to grow. This is like a post retirement plan for me.
