Because it just happened again after 2013-2014, I don't think too far. If we look 2013 which the highest price bitcoin at the time, which then drop to $400 in mid-2014. And the price drop again early 2015. It's crazy down to 400 and down again to 200.

IMO, because bitcoin in this time already had many users than before, I think for the price drop is not too far maybe around $700 or $800. Hopefully.

As always the traders or investors have a habit to take profit in the end of year. And it's massive movements around the world.
It means yeah maybe the price is going down because of massive sell. But no one can predict how much is it.
In my opinion, there are good chances that the price will fall by the end of the year. But I don't think it will be a dump on a large scale... Even at Christmas, the drop in price was not very significant, and soon after the price remained strong and continued to rise. I think the same will happen at the end of the year, the demand is growing, and the network effect becomes better every day.

Once we reach 1000 dolars the price will crazy swing. My bet would be very quickly reach 1100 and go down to 750 and stabilize near 900.

What do you mean when you later bitcoin prices back touched $ 1,000 , that's we can not know because maybe the price will be able to survive or even be able to continue to rise because of bitcoin is currently very popular.

my prediction is that after $1000 there will be a drop and it is even possible to see some FUDsters start working hard again and we may see a drop back to $900 but the good news is that whenever this happens in any market there will be a much bigger rise. which means $1200 right after.

People, or perhaps a group of whales (which I find to be more likely), hire hackers, create fake news sites, DDOS exchanges, etc, all to get a panic reaction. Most of the times they are not succeeding, but in some cases these planned attacks work and hit the market with massive sell-offs at result. It works because people are taking everything for granted directly without using common sense. As long as that doesn't change, these manipulators can just continue their thing to get the market to come down. People and traders should grow over it. At least, that's what I would expect after all these years.

They said bitcoin price correction maybe fierce but short live and no one know exactly how far the price will drop. Price corrections are just temporary setback as the outlook is still bullish for bitcoin and will resume its upward climb beyond the level of $1000.

IMHO, I think these days bitcoin is quite stable, it's not like it used to be. I think at most will drop back to $800 range. And I think it's wise to buy the dip if it did drops.

Unless a massive sell-off happens by the time the price reaches $1000, I don't think the price will still fall as low as $500. If ever it corrects, I think it will settle at the $700 or $800 level, but that is still a very high price considering how it has performed the last twelve months.

We'll never see $500 again, that was 2016, 2017 is the start of the 4 digit btc.

I bet it won't dip till just before $1,100 not $1,000. There are too many holders and wishful thinkers to let it fall at $1,000 sharp.

You'll see it dip to the low $900s once it gets close to $1,100 and then soon enough is back up over $1,000 forever. I'd say gradual bumps of $100 every 2 months with a little dip here or there before a rocket recovery back. $1,600 by the end of 2017 for sure. Hopefully more, possibly $2,000ish. Its gonna take time though, nothing overnight is gonna happen.

With $1000 in the not too distant future and the ensuing sell off (I'm sure many consider this a psychological target to sell 20-50% of their bitcoins for profit, if only to re-invest after the drop).

The question is: after $1000, just how far do you think BTC will drop back? Could we see the days of $500 from August again, or are we stable above $800-900?

I would welcome the "days of August of $500" again. Please let it happen, I would be very happy to pick up those coins and add them all to my cold wallet. Bitcoin has been proven time and time again that it has not reached its full potential value yet. The dark markets is a potential billion US Dollar market with Bitcoin in the middle of it all, supporting it. Where do you think Bitcoin's price be in 5 years time? It will be higher than it is now.

there are many traders that will welcome a lot higher low prices (such as $800, $790 and $750) with all the money they have. so be sure your dream of $500 days will never come true since the buy support is pretty strong and growing stronger each day.

I personally think the opposite. I think that $1000 is a mental barrier for investors and once they see that barrier is broken they will accumulate like crazy. There is little chance that they will dump when they've seen what bitcoin can do, going from $400 to $1000 in a year.

We're not that far away, already $935~.

I think the price could reach the psychological barrier of 1000$, we are so near to reach it. The price can drop not below 800USD from my point because the price has been fairly stable since this summer.

The market will tell us the price in the future.

i sold some BTC when it reached 800$ thinking on the mental barrier thing and well, it happened what it happened. I don't think i'm selling anything at 1000$ but maybe I will by the time we reach the ATH

What makes you think that it will drop right after hitting 1000$, it can get up more, it is not impossible. But when it drops, it wont go lower than about 800$, it is the floor, mazbe even higher, who knows? It is not really pumping really fast (at least not super fast), so it wont drop drastcally.

It's normal to see the price drop after reaching a new high or special target point. It's safe to say that reaching $1000 fits nicely in that category. If there aren't any more hacked exchanges, or worthless fud articles that people take for granted so easily, then the drop will be temporarily and not that intense. In that view, falling below the $800 point would be seen as the price being oversold. Everything above $900 seems fair.

This is far better then I expect  i must say 900 is good but like most want including  me the bigger price the better it is
I hope for bigger price in following few days maybe even 1000
