@exochrono

I've added your project to the list, I assumed that people can already receive a basic income through your app, so I marked it green.
If it's possible, I'd like to test out your app, so I can add more detailed information about Raha on the list.

I would be very grateful if you could send me an invite through PM, if possible.

Hi! I'm one of the founders of Raha (https://raha.app) - would you be willing to add our project to your list? We're pretty new to the scene - we've only been at it seriously for about 6 months now, but I think we're one of the first UBI projects to have apps released on both the iOS and Android app stores!

Also, our identity system requires verification by another already-verified member of the system to start receiving a basic income, so let me know if you'd like to have a conversation to get verified Smiley

Just a quick update for the Manna project:

I've received this news via e-mail through their newsletter, but I haven't been able to find any other press release online.

Partnership With Stanford
Code the Change

We are excited to announce that the leaders of the Stanford University chapter of Code the Change have decided to work with us during the 2018-2019 academic year. They are planning to recruit 8 computer science students who will each volunteer 5-10 hours per week to improve Mannabase.com, Manna wallets, and more.

As many of you know, most of the work done on the Manna project has been volunteer based. We are honored to have these talented students working on our project to help make the Manna vision a reality.

Founded at Stanford University, Code the Change gives computer science students the opportunity to work on projects that are creating positive social change. Working with Manna is a perfect fit and we can't wait to get started!

I'm really glad that they're finally going to update the manna wallets. Though I also think it's kinda weird that they have to rely on students to issue updates to the platform.
I think development for Manna is rather slow, so I'm wondering how many actual coders they do have working regularly on the project.

i see most major internet player within a few years starting redistribution of tokenized dividends to user as marketing argument (wouldnt come as a surprise to me if telegram will be one of the first), otherwise other competitors using redistribution will canibalize those major players.

Redistribution of profits would be an interesting concept to witness, but I'm doubtful that major players would want to do that. They already control the majority of the market (Facebook, Google Etc.) without sharing their profits, so they have no incentive to start doing so.

Sure, these companies will probably issue their own tokens in the future and they may share (give away) those tokens with their customers. I just don't think they'll share any actual profit though.

It wont be basic income but it will be accepted redistribution mechanism. I think we need to see major players like google, facebook, amazon turn into commons via slow redistribution of profit and power (like 5% a year), so you can still get rich as a individuum and startup founder with bright ideas for a lifetime, but you also share your wealth and even more important innovation power 5% a year. So as long as you grow more innovative than 5 % a year in business, your wealth will still grow, but you will constantly redistribute the rights on it to everyone.

Perhaps EOS will also distribute a cryptoUBI. Very exciting.
https://cryptonomist.ch/en/blockchain-en/universal-basic-income-2/

Very interesting indeed. I'll definitely add it to the list when they build a project around this.
Might actually need to buy some EOS now, I'm sure that this basic income will depend on your stake in EOS.

I doubt that it's actually going to be an unconditional basic income.

I've read the Telegram group conversation and if it will be like they described it then it will be a true cryptoUBI. Lets see...

I still have doubts as long as Dan is only selling promises and not facts. Maybe he just wants to test how the crowd is going to react, but it could take years to get there?

I have to stop phone browsing almost missed that UBI Gofundme.

Those draws look appealing, especially if the project gets off the ground. I am tempted to get myself some cool shades, but the link to the picture is missing lol.

Watching the trailer it looks like if the goal is reached they will have a polished video. If it is going to help convert naysayers though they will need to focus a portion of the video separating fact from fiction. I'm sure they can find someone to play devils advocate, so that it isn't easily dismissed as propaganda.

Oh lol, I already forgot about that, I was planning to donate at least enough for an entry into the raffle.
I should also do some promotion on my Steemit account, I really hope they reach their target.

I mean, you see crowdfunding for a lot of useless stuff that gets millions, without even having a working product.
Manna is already up and running and they barely reached $4000

They are up and running but still seem to lack a solution for sybil attacks and have also obvious issues with centralisation. i wouldnt buy it but also wonder how low people sell it, i mean they still have a chance to change a lot and recive more trust. Trust will be a main source of value in cryptoubi.

Yeah that's true, I do hope they will find a solution for that, they've indicated on Reddit that this is something they plan to improve in the future.

I can't help thinking that we only need one basic income.  Doesen't having so many different projects make it harder for any one to succeed?

I don't think it makes it harder for other projects to succeed. It would be very very difficult to be able to coordinate one single global basic income.
Not enough research has been done and the whole concept of a crypto-based UBI is completely new.

You'd need many different projects to test out their vision of issuing basic income through cryptocurrency.
Some will fail, some might have some merit to them, but without trial and error we'd not progress at all.

Also, with just one basic income, that's one single point of failure. I'd rather have many different solutions.

It's a harder sell to people for some reason; I imagine even harder to get funds to promote/explain it. Not to bad though 8% of the goal in 18 days. I don't see a deadline on the fundraiser so given enough time they might get there.

At least it has outperformed this campaign  Roll Eyes

Both truly equal causes "poor" Kylie

Couldn't hurt all exposure is good.

I've just found a bit of interesting news.

It appears that Manna has started a Gofundme campaign to raise funds for making a documentary about Basic Income.
There are some interesting perks, such as a chance to win either $500 or $1000 worth of Manna basic income per month.

Go check it out here:

The problem with most of these basic income proposals, is that they are usually viewed as overly left-leaning measures.
Political stances in Europe are currently shifting more towards the right (I would say at least), which certainly has an effect on the level of government support on these basic income projects.

That's why I like the idea of crypto UBI so much, since it's completely separated from the government.
Okay projects like Manna do receive some form of government funding, but it should still be able to exist without it.

It's definitely Italy a set back when any of these programs shutters early. That's unfortunately an easy option during a change in government, considering thoughts on UBI generally differ along party lines.

Unless any of these programs follows through on a trial for a reasonable amount of time and then really analysed the data, it will be easy for politicians to denounce these projects.

Another bonus for the crypto based idea; with the drawback of funding being an issue. Once funded though there would be a clear goal and no worry it would shut down early.

So unfortunately with a new government rolling into power the UBI pilot project in Ontario is dead.

http://reason.com/blog/2018/08/01/ontario-ends-ubi-experiment-2-years-earl

This article wasn't all doom and gloom because I didn't realise how many countries were experimenting with this.

That's too bad, that it only lasted one year in total. If I recall correctly, it's not the only basic income project that has been terminated earlier.
Finland had also stopped its experiment, or at least decided not to expand on it.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/23/finland-to-end-basic-income-trial-after-two-years

Now I'm curious to see what comes of the Dutch and Italian UBI trials.
