That’s very kind of you. Appreciate your help! My steemit username is @adam.tran. I think it would be fine to share it here to you. I joined few contests that give rewards with Steem Basic Income shares, I really like the idea because it’s not one time reward.

I am one of many people using Steem Basic Income now and I can give anyone who interested a brief review. That is such a great project, the discord also full of helpful people I believe so even I don't talk much in there, this was founded by @josephsavage, and he is very active in the channel, he will answer every questions you might have.
Basically, you send (min) 1 SBD ( Steem Dollar to @steembasicincome) and everytime you post an article on Steemit, you automatically get upvote from them. Especially you can sponsor another person. And there are different ways to increase your income. But what I want to tell you here is, you can both enjoy writing and earn money at the same time on this platform. Gradually, you will not only earn money from Steem Basic Income but also from contests, upvote from other people ( when you are are more active and interact with other people. ) Steem Basic Income really helps you to start comfortably with not only Steemit but with cryptocurrency in general. Go check it out! You know, honestly Steem basic income might be a little amount for you, but believe me you will earn from different ways when you know more about it. Lol, sounds like I did a great PR for Steemit Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

But, really appreciate it, this thread helped me to realize there are more of them out there that I havent know. Thank you a lot!

Edited: Oh, its great if you start with this post so you can understand more https://steemit.com/basicincome/@steembasicincome/steem-basic-income-a-complete-overview

I've also been using it myself, but for now I just have one share.
That gives me an upvote of around 1 or 2 cents, which isn't a lot... I'm really thinking of sponsoring some other members to also increase my own shares

I think it's a pretty good system that you have to sponsor someone else to get your shares.

You can always pm or share your steem username, I'll get you another share as well Wink

Another update to the OP:

I've added Vialcoin to the list, I'm not sure if this project is still active, but have added it anyway.
Also changed the colour of BIG and Solidar, to show that their UBI distribution has already started. Had forgotten about that the last time it seems.

Still looking for suggestions or just general feedback Smiley

Small update:
I've changed the description of Swift, the old description was pretty bad and just something I had found directly on their home page.
Now I've updated it to some info that I found in their FAQ.

Also added some additional links in my sources and will continue to add crypto-UBI related links in the future.

This is quite a nice compilation. Thank you for doing this for the community. I actually already signed up for Swift but I struggle to sign up for Grantcoin (can’t go pass the verification stage.) One thing that I really liked about Swift was that there’s already a small market where one can sell and buy services via its currency. For example, I helped few people translate their names to Korean, and I got small amount in return. It’s quite interesting to see there are several projects trying to promote universal income, and I wonder whether they will be able to establish sustainable marketplace.

Yeah the verification for Manna/grantcoin can be a bit tricky depending on which country you're from.
I had no issues signing up and getting verified with my Belgian phone, but have heard from other people that they were unable to.

You can always try to manually verify your identity with them or alternatively try to use another phone (different provider) for verification.

Haven't signed up for Swift myself, but it does seem very interesting indeed Smiley

Ah I see. I will try to sign up manually then. Actually, Swift is doing a tokensale right now. It's keep increasing (early bird advantage) but right now it's 1ETH=105,568 Swift token. But I am not sure whether that's good. We get 100 per day so that's like almost 3 years worth of getting it daily :/

I also have my doubts about Manna btw, they barely have any volume on the exchanges they've listed and they mention in their whitepaper that they're planning on building their own proprietary blockchain in 2018.

Interesting what you say about Swift, I seriously doubt that the token will retain its value, if they're selling them that cheaply. It also doesn't make sense to keep the distribution so low.

I think you should add LBRY project to your list.
What is LBRY project?
LBRY is a sharing platform that uses blockchain technology to enable users to publish material and get paid for doing so. People using LBRY’s service can monetize their published material with its built-in payment system.
LBRY allow creators to upload their work to the LBRY network of hosts (like BitTorrent), and set a price per stream or download (like iTunes) or give it away for free (like YouTube without ads).
Now you can Sync your Youtube channel and earn LBC coin yearly.
For youtube channel have 1.000     Subscribers ----> 250 LBC/year
For youtube channel have 10.000   Subscribers ----> 1.000 LBC/year
For youtube channel have 100.000  Subscribers ----> 5.000 LBC/year
For youtube channel have 1.000.000 Subscribers ----> 15.000 LBC/year

I don't really think that LBRY has the goal of providing people with a basic income, so I'm not going to add it to this list.
It's a really cool project though!

** I've updated the OP to include a definition of what basic income actually is. I've just gotten it from Wikipedia for now, I might make a custom one in the future.

While stumbling down the rabbit hole a little I found this project https://tse.bitnation.co

Looks like they want to create an entire governing nation without borders. Seems like an interesting future planning project; it reminds me of the off grid commune/commmunities people founded in the late 60s/70s.

This is the initial article that I read where they discuss their UBI.

http://basicincome.org/news/2017/03/bitnation-recent-advances-cryptocurrency-see-basic-income-tested/

Thanks! I hadn't found that one yet and it does seem to fit the criteria to be added on this list. Most of the suggestions by other people don't really qualify as basic income, but this one definitely does.

In this respect, however, although an equal distribution of wealth is ideal, it still undermines the role of money as an incentive that pushes people to work harder, thus getting more income. Perhaps in a utopian society where the population is infused with the notion of hard work as a measure to maximize human potential and a sense of place in civilization which justifies this effort towards growth, such an implementation would work.

But given a society that is built on capitalist foundations and a craving for stratification, it is better off leaving mankind for to its own interests - a personal pursuit for meaning and purpose fueled by individual definitions of money.

And just to put it out there, an equal society tends to be a boring one. Suppose I'd have mustered enough cash to go on a vacation to a luxurious resort: once I arrive, it's empty. No one at the reception waiting for guests, no janitors keeping the establishment clean and no lifeguards securing the swimming area. Why? They've all saved enough money to go out at the same exact day that I did, earning and saving the same amount a year too. In the world today, this seems to be unreal, but in a society built on equal pay, a tale like this could be a narrative of daily life - a repetitive cycle of working and saving - towards what will always be a dead end job.

Just my two cents Smiley.

I understand where you are coming from, all a UBI is supposed to do is really ensure that regardless of the career path you chose you shouldn't have to chose between eating/hydro/or a roof over your head.

These situations are rampant through all industrialized nations. Many people put in 40 hours + and still can't afford a basic quality of life. Another added benefit to a UBI that has been lost in the last few decades is that it can become easier for a parent to chose to stay home and raise children until they are school aged. This issue in itself has many added benefits to the family unit and specifically the children.

Thanks again OP for creating an interesting topic to discuss

You've explained it perfectly! Basic Income isn't going to be a total replacement of a wage, more like an addition so everyone gets their basic needs met.

Hello OP nice compilation of Universal basic income projects, I personally use swift demand they are running now token sale for swits good site to buy and sell useful stuffs and information. I also like steemit a tokenized social media where we can learn share knowledge and earn. OP I would like to suggest you one more site https://wildspark.me this also tokenized social media project on blockchain where we can simply share our YouTube vedio and when people's watches our content if they like our vedio they rewards us in AMP which also tradable like steem and already listed on several exchanges and Coinmarketcap here is the link

I'm kinda amazed, I can honestly say I never even considered this as an application for blockchain technology. If these projects can show the benefit to their platform, there's a chance more progressive governments might adopt this. Either way in the end someone does have the burden of funding the basic income; but using a blockchain style ledger would greatly reduce the behind the scenes costs and potential errors involved in current social assistance programs.

I'm going to have to do some more reading on each but it's nice to see several developments out there focusing on distribution of wealth and not just decentralization. Thanks for putting this out there I definitely see the benefit to these platforms especially when dealing with less privileged members of society.

EDIT: I just did a quick search and turned up this project as well.

http://www.grantcoin.org/

Grantcoin is the same as manna, check out their recent posts on that website Wink I'm personally really passionate about projects like these, because it's something that society will need sooner rather than later.
This could be a great implementation of Basic income at relatively low cost.

Thanks for the comment!

I don't see basic income as a means to make society fully equal though. And experiments have also shown that it does not make people work less, what it does do is give people the opportunity to look for jobs that they like to do.

Basic income is fully compatible with capitalism and you will always have people who are willing to do the less interesting jobs as well, since basic income wouldn't be a full replacement for a wage.

This is an interesting concept indeed. Smiley

I took a look over the first one in your list but I still can't see how these projects can be successful. In the sense that if you handout free tokens to everyone their value will be diluted and they won't be worth anything in the end.

Even if other NGOs will pump money into it, there isn't going to be enough for a lot of people. Not to mention the inflation this will generate.

I observed the word money, income are almost use then secondly the word bank, distribution, and profit. This make sense in people's lives. Funny to think that this topic seems pyramid to me. Even you provide a meaningful information of what the  majority needs with proof, in return some will think this isn't useful (ponzi).

I appreciated much your good compilation of what the universal basic income project. I assume if this basic put it into practice will make sense to everyone's income to meet the basic needs too. Even in one country's income will probably growth gradually. The effectivity will be observe not just in a few time but it will fully growth in a due time possibly will last long if it will practice intimately.

This is a compact information that could have good impact to the universe like what the basic cycle of ecosystem.

I leave a comment for this is  meaningful to me. That is how I  prove that it helps me and I would like to watch your update. By the way I like Manna it seems derived from the word blessings (foods) to provide everyone's family if they wish.

Thanks for your effort

Thank you for such a compilation.
I am interested in this topic in itself, especially its economic part, so I will be pleased to study these projects.
