It'll surely have problems once you have more than a couple of people on there...  just look at p2pool.org, etc..

It's not designed well for multiple ppl with how it handles the work requests.... when I had 10+ ppl on my Bitcoin p2pool, it'd take around 50-100ms before it got to the last person and that's with having it set at 5000 maxblocksize (cutting out most of the transactions)... not to mention the i7-2700k, 32gb of RAM w/ blockchain in ramfs.  Try using two different difficulty settings and check the log and see what the time difference is between the two work requests..

but while we're on the topic of VPS', wable.com (incero) option #3 is sweet for $8 a month.  can mix and match how you like & swap between dallas and seattle at will..

http://www.speedtest.net/result/3480771499.png from the seattle location (it still resolves the IP to Dallas, re: Seattle being 1750mi away)

If what you say is true, then I'll be disappointed.  But I'm going to try it anyhow... and if nothing else, use it for myself.  I'd be happy if I got too many users.

BTW I got my VPS for $30 a year.

Yeah, I have seen some for that cheap...  like that ramnode thing or whatever I posted here earlier.  You can find lots on lowendtalk or lowendbox.com...  but I haven't found one where you can move it between Seattle and Dallas whenever you want  Grin

I'm damn near certain it'll be too slow if you allow all the transactions...  I'd think w/ $30 a year it's probably just 2 or 3 cores?   If you cut out all the transactions it might be OK

My box is showing Xeon L5520 @ 2.267GHz 8 cores.

I'm using the recommendations in the "p2pool FUD" thread to limit transactions.  I'm not allowing all in.  I tweaked things a bit to get it to be stable.  The alt coins will use way too many connections and hence resources if I let them, I had to lock them down quite a bit.

In an effort to promote p2pool, I'm going to try something new, and afaik, something that hasn't been done before.

I managed to snatch up a VPS for a ridiculously low price.  I'm running a public p2pool node on it with 0% fee.  I'm merge mining every single coin I'm aware of that merges with BTC: NMC, IXC, and DVC.  (IXC is off at the moment to make sure I don't run out of resources.)

All that's the same as many other nodes out there.

What I'm doing different is not keeping the merged mine proceeds for myself.  I'm not even using them to compensate for the VPS fee.

Instead, I'll be donating the BTC equivalent back into p2pool, for all p2pool users to share.  Every single satoshi.

The VPS is located in Los Angles, CA, the opposite side of the country of me.  Not ideal for me, but it was the one that was available, so I grabbed it. Smiley I'm pointing the majority of my hashpower there - a meager 1 TH/s.  I hope to see a lot more from others soon. Smiley

The pool address is 96.44.166.190:9332.  I intend to find a domain name for it soon, but haven't got there yet.

I also intend to put one of the newer front end web UIs on the node, but for now I'm just using the default.

Hello all.

New public node on dedicated server in Contabo's new datacentre in Muenchen (Germany): www.minehammer.com  (Bitcoin)

Muenchen::Germany::178.238.237.252:9332::0.5::Bitcoin::MineHammer::Martin Beek

I'm currently working on a redundant server setup w. an Amsterdam mirror, so it's better to use the domain name instead of the IP address: http://minehammer.com:9332

Cheers!

Martin.

how to set antminer S1 to use p2pool ?

Install p2pool and point your miner at it. Or use one of the public nodes if you don't want to run it yourself, but running your own copy is best.

can you give me info where rent hosting for install p2pool?

I wouldn't suggest you rent a server just to run it when you can use other people's public nodes instead. Some were suggested to you in the other p2pool thread where you asked the same question.

I am running p2pool for couple years, now it's on a new hardware, ARM quad core chip,
power consumption around 5W, anybody is welcome to test here :

http://aamarket.eu:9332

it's a bit less responsive than before with Intel i3 (p2pool info says 1.4 sec against 0.1 before).
Any idea is welcome.
You can check my latest project here
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-low-power-personal-server-wallet-with-https-payment-interface-457081
I think the whole bitcoin community can benefit largely from this.
Good luck to everybody !
