From the first look this really looks like a good serious project.
But it has it's past revolving around Shadowcash, and rather bad opinion of it.

I want to know, why it was renamed? To clear name of it ?

Why nobody almost never mention Shadowcash past?

And no mining.
It really looks like a centralization of a possesion of coins, that's probably why it hasn't got much interest.

DARPAL Rating, an independent ratings agency like Moody's or S&P but for cryptocurrencies, has just released their February Github code quality audit report.

We are very proud to be ranked 6th out of the 133 most popular projects!
https://medium.com/@Darpalrating/darpalrating-we-went-through-133-blockchain-projects-github-heres-our-code-audit-report-for-5c060df3af44

Ether should be in top, greater mass adoption and more market cap value

DARPAL Rating only looks at the quality of the code in general, not the coin's social metrics. They explain here (https://medium.com/@Darpalrating/darpalrating-we-went-through-133-blockchain-projects-github-heres-our-code-audit-report-for-5c060df3af44) how they rate coins.

Linking a question we got from Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/Particl/comments/83is2z/amazon/) here since I think it is pretty much relevant and a good oppportunity to display our vision:

Question:
Quote
The last weeks there have been a whole lot of good news regarding crypto and blockchain, including the news that Amazon might be looking into possibly their own coin. At first I was like: "Well yeah, thats awesome!" But then I started to realize that the flagship of my favorite project in crypto, our good friend Part(icl), could just be obliterated by that. I do realize that the "Amazoncoin" most likely won't have the privacy benefits that Particl has, but does that really matter? I honestly can't tell, can you?

Disclaimer: This is no FUD, just information and me asking more people how they feel about this.

That's a fair question to ask, but ultimately, for what Particl is building, I don't that matters too much. What we are building is a privacy platform where users can build and use decentralized applications focused on privacy, the marketplace being the first official Dapp. I guess one thing I could do is link you to this reply I have written this week to another person. His question wasn't the same as yours, but the answer fits both questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/Particl/comments/82l0y2/is_particl_a_decentralized_marketplace_or_dapp/dvaxkcs/

So as you can understand from my linked reply, we are a full-blown decentralized ecosystem supported by a platform (Particl Desktop) and its privacy coin (PART). So the marketplace is just small part of our greater vision.

Also, Amazon doesn't focus on a lot of stuff that are our core values, such as privacy, being trustless, low cost and democracy. Everything you do on Amazon is tracked, there's no going around this. Amazon is the definition of a third-party, something we want to get rid of hopefully entirely, and that centralized party introduced HEAVY fees. Did you know Amazon takes from 10% to 45% (or something along those lines) on every sale? That's just gross...but it is the price to pay for their entire suite of features and services offered.

I guess the bottom line is...Particl and Amazon are focusing on entirely different sectors. I think nobody in the team and I suppose the community as well imagines Particl as an "Amazon killer", but rather a private, decentralized/trustless and democratic alternative where anyone in the world can use it and be empowered by gaining access to the e-commerce economy (don't forget there are more countries on Earth where you cannot use services like Amazon, Paypal, eBay, etc than there are that you can use them).

We hope you didn't miss our surprise guest on today's livestream! It was a great pleasure to have one of our developer, Ido Kaiser (Kewde), as well as our awesome community member BB2K join the discussion along with our Head of Communications Paul Schmitzer!

Some of the stuff that was discussed:

* Primary funding round will be discussed among the team in June, no plans to offer those coins for sale before then.
* Particl team wants to set up "ambassadors" to generate interest in communities, particularly if you speak non-english languages and would be willing to do translation work. The surge in UpBit volume indicates Korean interest and Paul would in particular like someone fluent in Korean+English to contact him about engaging those communities.
* RingCT audit expected to run until May/June. Ryno talks to Qiang weekly. Another code review (possibly a month long) will happen after NJIT's recommendations are implemented.
* Mainnet will require a hardfork to get RingCT.
* Roadmap v2 in process: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/391967609664307201/421766886234128395/roadmap.png
* Alpha marketplace will be testnet only. Possible release by March 23rd.
* Beta marketplace may or may not be testnet only.
* First Release marketplace will be mainnet and require RingCT, meaning we won't see this until Q3 at the earliest.
* ~30k PART coins are still sitting in community-pooled funds leftover from the swap. TBD where those funds could go to, community gets to decide.
* No problems seen so far by kewde/technovert while integrating 0.16 BTC update to Particl codebase

Do you desire purchasing online w/ #cryptocurrency of your choice, but distrust mega-Globalists like eBay, Amazon, Google, Microsoft, or other far-left radicals?
Introducing http://Particl.io
Using $PART you'll have a fully anonymous, staking-potential marketplace w/ escrow

What do you mean by fully anonymous? Private than XMR? What's the vision?

Well, one way to see Particl would be as the "Monero of decentralized marketplaces". 100% of the marketplace transactions are private by default (using CT at first, then RingCT (the protocol used on Monero) once we get the final report from the NJIT Department of Technology peer-review). No metadata leaks are possible, staking can be done entirely from cold staking addresses, the platform is quantum-resistant, etc.

Basically, Particl is a platform where privacy-focused Dapps can be built. That's the big vision. Our marketplace will be but the first Dapp of this platform, and there will be more soon.

The three pillars of this project are: privacy, security and decentralization. You can expect no compromise on our end when it comes to these three core values. We are a team of old-school crypto people and most of our teams come from a cypherpunk-ish background. Everything we do is to allow users to operate within an environment that is secure, private and trustless.

so its Bitbay but Particl is 2 years behind them?

Bitbay and Particl are very different, both in mission, vision, features and approach. Particl's marketplace will only be the first of many Dapps built on the Particl privacy platform. Particl is also much more private than BitBay, not saying that Bitbay sucks when it comes to privacy, but Particl is built from the ground up with that in mind. It will also probably be much more scalable as Bitbay uses BitMessage and Particl will use any DSN (SMSG, IPFS, etc). Also, as a personal preference, I like Particl's user interface a lot more than Bitbay's and I think this is one if not THE most important aspect for a product to gain real, organic adoption. I like what Bitbay is doing, they have some cool features, but ultimately both projects are quite different both in vision and mission.

Also worth considering that with Particl's huge team, I would expect the project to "catch up" pretty quickly.

So no, it's not really Bitbay but 2 years behind. Just a different approach with, in my opinion, better economics parameters.

in the bitbay market if you create your own store and set it so only people that you invite can see your products then its private. So they do have private marketplace

I never claimed Bitbay doesn't have any privacy. In fact, in all decentralized marketplaces, I find Bitbay to be the second most private marketplace behind Particl.

As I have said, Particl is a privacy platform and in the future there will be much more than simply just a privacy marketplace. I know there are people (2 different groups, to be more precise) already looking into Particl to build their own privacy-oriented DApps and have them be integrated into the Particl official wallet. Note that both of these two Dapps could never see the day, but the fact is that Particl in itself is NOT simply a marketplace project but rather a platform project.

I agree private marketplaces on Bitbay are great, Particl is simply pushing the boundaries in terms of privacy, security and scalability. Also, what I think is great about decentralized marketplaces is that in the end, if your favorite decentralized marketplace is good, people will use it regardless of the competition. You have to think like a vendor, if the marketplace is good and simple to use then it will be used just because that increases vendor exposure. Alibaba, Ebay, Amazon, Etsy...they are all marketplaces and are able to co-exist. Some vendors sell on all of these platforms at the same time.
