Why would you bother with the scammers payment service - PayPal, when you can use Bitcoin?

not enough technical chops to be able to really secure their wallet safely. its a fairly steep incline for the uninitiated.seeds, firmware updates, dangers sweeping wallets improperly etc.

paypal? just click. and hope your account doesnt get frozen or hacked. not fond of paypal in general but ive had no issues for over a decade with them.

yes its a risk and not "real" bitcoin as it cant leave the platform. but it will introduce huge amounts of people to it.

It opens the door for non-bitcoiners to enter the world of cryptocurrencies.

We need to bridge the gap between banks that hold our money and can say no, we won't process your transaction because it's from or to a bitcoin exchange and we do not support cryptocurrencies.

The more companies offer these people who are now stuck with stubborn and nosy bankers a way out, the better.

This is really good news.  If PayPal had made such a decision, I would say it was a landmark decision.  However, it has a negative side. If you buy and sell cryptocurrency through PayPal, then the third party will control it.  This means that if you buy Bitcoin through PayPal, then Paper Bank will be able to know your complete information.  Which is in complete conflict with the principles of bitcoin discovery.

Wow, this is indeed a great news to all crypto enthusiast, one of the world biggest payment system finally accepts crypto, wow "bitcoin is turning doubters into believers",
Well it is not exactly what is happening now, doubters are not the Paypal but their users in which the one who needs to use bitcoin and some crypto for this to
be successful .so basically we have to wait for at least few times before finally believe that this is a good work and will help us all crypto users in their progress.

Six years ago, there was a time when I desperately hoped that I would be able to purchase BTC with PayPal. Being a resident of India, it was extremely difficult to purchase Bitcoin at that time. Exchanges such as Mt Gox and BTC-e had no fiat deposit option that I could use. Finally I was able to make the purchase through peer-to-peer platforms, but I had to go through a lot of frustration and despair. I understand that a majority of the users have reacted negatively to this news. But for me, it is more positive than negative.

I would rather say that this is the biggest trigger received so far in the adoption of Bitcoin, ever since the first coins were mined in 2009.
You're right. Never before in the history of bitcoin have we had a unique opportunity to (a) completely forget all the benefits of open, borderless, censorship-resistant, permissionless currency, which is, in fact, a breakthrough in distributed decentralized monetary systems, and to (b) return back to obsolete payment platforms such as PayPal, which don't allow you to (1) control your own money, (2) transact with those who excluded from the financial system due to the "wrong" place of birth, (3) defend your right to privacy, (4) avoid surveillance of your transactions, habits, political views, etc. What a great day for the adoption!

Good news for the crypto world. I assume that in the next year there will be a tremendous increase because of this news and indirectly it will trigger the Bank to grow (accept Cryptocurrency purchases or withdrawals)

This is just the spike that we badly needed for the last 3 years. Paypal allowing its users to purchase and store Bitcoin in its platform is huge. PayPal is one of the largest payment processors right now and their acceptance means a lot for Bitcoin. I would rather say that this is the biggest trigger received so far in the adoption of Bitcoin, ever since the first coins were mined in 2009.

Very good news, but after creating any paypal account you will need to link your paypal account to a bank account and this will be some kind of doing kyc. By accepting crypto on paypal and letting any user to deposit and withdraw crypto directly to paypal account the most important issue will the the indirect kyc because paypal is full centralized payment system and and surly you will need to report the details of transactions for the government and related organization.

It’s four cryptocurrencies that they announced, and it’s going to be the top cryptocurrencies that’s been around for long which is Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash. Before now there has been rumour that PayPal will be rolling out a feature like that but when the media approached them to know whether the news was true they replied that they don’t give answers to rumours, and now they have come open about it.

This is the step one! With time cryptocurrency will be everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if Amazon is the next that will start accepting cryptocurrency, although that wouldn’t be necessary now since PayPal is accepting it, anyone using PayPal and has cryptocurrency on it will still be able to buy from Amazon.

This could be the massive news we are waiting for too long this 2020. Paypal as I can see is a big company that will push the value of cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin. I am not saying that we are achieving a bull run phase because of this, there's already some big news from companies putting their reserve funds to bitcoin, and this Paypal news will be the assurance that it will be a great years for bitcoin in the coming years.

I just don't like it when I see the market price of the cryptocurrencies on coin market cap quite weird yesterday, that it drove me to sell some of my holdings.

Paypal will help significantly boost Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, which is good news for the crypto market. Paypal is no longer competing with cryptocurrencies, they will have a symbiotic relationship with each other. A centralized payment platform that trades decentralized currencies, that's what we are seeing, the world is accepting cryptocurrencies.
Paypal promotes cryptocurrencies directly and provides additional liquidity to the crypto market through the adoption of cryptocurrencies.
The entire crypto market cap is likely to grow very rapidly soon.

This another great news for everyone who are using and investing in crypto. If it will happen, cryptocurrency will become more popular and they give the people to use their platform more widely. Hoping that the transaction fee is not so expensive and have fast transaction if ever. Let's just wait it to operate.

--snip--

I cant really just believe that this is the main reason on why bitcoin did soar up that high at this moment and do even able to hit up 13k price
in preev.com.

Majority hadnt anticipated for this thing to happen and its good if we do sell out now for those who do trade earlier. This is the sweetest spot to make out some moves.

The thing is, PayPal must have been watching the crypto markets very vigorously and did not want to miss out on their share (which they already missed till date), but I can say that they chose the right time to chime in with their announcement while things were already looking good and the most important factor that I believe is the fact that BTC remained stable and even grew while 2 of the major exchanges got hacked, and probably that is why PayPal started believing in it from then (maybe!). All in all, let us be prepared for the cheap fees but an expensive BTC (as it's their choice to sell at their rates and it'll probably be a bit higher than market price).

It is undeniable that cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin, will indeed become a digital money trend that everyone definitely needs, and I see that PayPal doesn't want to be left behind with this trend, which in the end Paypal acknowledges this.
and this is exciting news for all of us.

Another point that PayPal allows you to buy and sell bitcoins, in my opinion, is very easy to control over the owners of bitcoins. PayPal is an electronic payment system that provides for the receipt of all user data when registering in it, while the anonymous purchase of bitcoins completely disappears.
The very idea of decentralization is gradually being reduced to zero.
But on the other hand, the emergence of a new feature is a very good sign for the adoption of cryptocurrency by society.
