This is  a huge adoption and I believe it's the reason for the massive pump in BTC price. I just hope PayPal would be able to improvise their service with the complain and bad reviews they already have on ground.

We can ignore, we know this kind of changes will come with time because of the potential and opportunities that crypto has especially by next, huge changes are waiting.
We can't just ignore a huge news in crypto like this one, I mean few years ago a lot of us talking about the potential of cryptocurrencies to be adopted by these giant companies especially the money transfer/ online payment company, Paypal. I already anticipated this events to crypto, a real huge potential it holds but to be honest I think it was sped up by the pandemic, I maybe wrong but I feel it is due to the pandemic, what you guys think about it?

At first, I was thinking that the "buy BTC with paypal" scams will dry up here, but it looks like you can't even send the coins to another wallet? How are you supposed to make transactions if you can't send bitcoin to arbitrary addresses? I guess this stops bitcoin doublers from proliferating among Paypal users who otherwise know nothing about how crypto works, but that's about as beneficial as it gets.

"First they ignore us, then they laugh at us, then they fight us, then we win."

I'm not sure where this quote originally came from(but I remember reading it on Andreas Antonopoulos' book), but that quote is sure damn coming into play slowly but surely.

That quote is widely believed to have come from Ghandi but there's no evidence that he said that.

Paypal officially announced that they are going to let their users to buy, sell and shop cryptocurrencies on their platform starting in 2021adding services such as this will become a domino effect that might trigger banks to do the same. I can feel it already, next year will be another blast for crypto!

source : https://cointelegraph.com/news/paypal-to-offer-crypto-payments-starting-in-2021

Confirmed!
Wow, that unexpected to me! I mean, PayPal was doing alright without cryptos, and I thought they didn't want to adopt them because it would bring additional necessary bureaucracy they'll have to deal with. I wonder what pushed them towards this decision. Did Square play its part by showing that it can be profitable? PayPal works in a limited way in my country, but I'm excited to see how this will be implemented and how friendly towards users will the conversion fees and policies be.

same expectations but its over , they change thier minds  .

paypal is not limited in my country but people here love to use paypal while im not because i have a bad history of usage on them before but if the partnership of crypto and paypal are going to be success , i will give them another chance .

theres other payment platform that im not a fan before but i used them after they support crypto transfer on thier network . same thing goes with paypal in the future .

This is really good news! Now the main thing is that later there are no refutations or something like that "we did not mean the purchase of bitcoins, but just support"... Or the next regulator checks...
Let's hope that everything will be fine!

It’s kind of disappointing that you don’t own your keys & can’t even send your coin to another wallet elsewhere but hey, it’s something. It’s a small step on the ladder towards mainstream adoption.

Good news indeed, though we don't like the way paypal payment system has been in operation becasue of their illicit games played with their esteem customers. They are known to be fraudulent payment system but with huge numbers of the customers. This huge numbers of customers will be a huge adoption from PayPal to Bitcoin adoption, hope this bring other institutional participants who were in PayPal to Bitcoin.

Sorry but the crypto you "buy" in paypal remains in paypal. This is as useless as it gets... In fact, its a trap. So you think paypal is better than using your own wallet? I don't think so. And what good is a bitcoin that cannot be used, just sold again to them? This is so foggy, they can even "pretend" to acquire the coins while never doing so, or do fractional reserve practices.
Yes, I can agree on this one but this is where the 'not for all who wants to stay anonymous' paypal isn't forcing anyone to use their platform, what I can see is that they are trying to convince people who does not trust crypto before making them think that Paypal isn't going to let them down with their investment. I personally don't want to use paypal for this since I know another platform could do it better. However this is a real adoption that will trigger the mass!

the fear the centralized payment systems is starting to become palpable at this point. they can feel how their days are numbered and are going to become obsolete soon as they are replaced by the decentralized currency that doesn't need them anymore.
sooner or later bitcoin is going to be used for all the payment that services like Paypal are being used today with a much higher security and less fraud.

so obviously they want to extend their lifeline a little more by adapting to the new change. it starts  by letting their users buy bitcoin, then they start letting their users deposit and store bitcoin in their account and finally they become obsolete Cheesy
That is the thing, they are finally realizing they are fighting a losing battle against bitcoin and they will begin to adopt it for themselves, and while this will allow them to get bigger profits for a while how long it will take for people to realize that they do not need them and they can settle their payments on bitcoin directly, pay less fees and retain some sort of privacy on the process? The moment people make that leap their days are for the most part over.

this is good news for the crypto world. Paypal is a big company that is aware of cryptocurrency technology so they are adopting it. This is the adoption of cryptocurrency that will enliven the crypto world in 2021.

Since March 2020 Paypal has started reviewing their efforts to build a new framework for the crypto asset market. Paypal studies and oversees the global development of crypto and blockchain assets. Paypal emphasized that its phaknya want to harmoniously approach a number of regulations without hindering innovation.

Paypal also collaborates with BitFlyer which is a large crypto exchange that has licenses in Japan, the US and Europe as well. on the BitFlyer market, users can deposit and buy crypto assets using paypal, and not only Bitflyer, other crypto exchanges such as Coinbase also work with paypal.

Now paypal is ready to step into the massive adoption of cryptocurrency.
Now have chance for United State people to join on ICO or cryptocurrency project because they have allow to use PayPal buy cryptocurrency like bitcoin and altcoin, I think give good moment where seeing bitcoin and paypal become partner and make bitcoin price raising up again, now above $12k the value of bitcoin and will give bigger chance after announcing by paypal make cryptocurency as partner to see bitcoin more than above $20k later. Just keep together how impact after paypal allowing for their member can buy cryptocurrency using bitcoin, many country not allowed to join ICO but now after paypal allow to buy cryptocurrency they will available become investor in cryptocurrency with paypal connected.

Paypal is trash. People talk about how scammers use Paypal. But forget that scammers created Paypal too.

How can someone cheat you if you pay for something using PP? Everyone as a buyer has the right to file a complaint within 180 days from the date of purchase and if the complaint is justified the money will be returned to the owner. Try to do the same with the BTC transaction and you will see what scammers prefer more, PP or BTC. I will always look for a way to pay something with BTC, but if I judge that the transaction is risky then of course I will protect myself which is quite normal if I do not want to lose money.

As for this news, there is no doubt that this is a very big thing for BTC because BTC payment will become available in every place where PP is available. Here we are talking about as many as 346 million active accounts that currently exist on PP, and there is no doubt that this move will mean a lot for the adaptation of Bitcoin.

Not to mention that, to even use Paypal, you need to have a valid credit card and perform a transaction with it to them which of course means fully disclosing your ID.

Did you know there are countries in this world where you just can't acquire a credit card? Its often hard to own a bank account. None of that matters with Bitcoin. This is the old system that needs to go away.

This is indeed a great news to the crypto sphere,so nice to see huge companies embracing the future, looks like we are winning the war Cheesy, more adoption of crypto will take place in no time, but there's a down side to this, PayPal is a centralized system of payment and after several reviews I saw online about them closing down accounts for no good reason, makes me scared, I don't think I can save my crypto there, cus there's nothing like a private key to my wallet, I'll gladly stay clear off it  Roll Eyes.

The cryptocurrency market is a big challenge for the Paypal market and they are making changes to carter to their business if not they will go obsolete as the number of users keep on decreasing over the years but that does not necessarily mean that the banking system will have a domino effect.

Right now i am able to send my funds from bank account to BTCitcoin exchanges without any fees and that is the only service i look forward as i do not expect the bankers start selling BTCitcoin directly if that is what you are expecting Wink.

PayPal officially making its entry into selling/buying of bitcoin. Already traders are doing trades in exchange for bitcoin. PayPal have already revealed its wish of getting into cryptocurrency business. Now this has come to usage. Maybe this will serve as a beginning to the banking and other transaction support platforms to get into bitcoin trading.

For those who didn't read the article - Paypal, through their partnership with Paxos, will act as an exchange. Merchants will still be receiving fiat as payment. I'm not so sure if that will help spread adoption to many Paypal users. I think it will be business as usual for them unless they will be given the option to price their products in accepted cryptocurrencies. I don't mean to be negative, I just don't want to be overly hype about this news.
