Hi all,

I got a strange problem and am not sure if anyone here has the same issue.

My rig is running win10 with phoneix5.6d. Since I only mine 12 hrs a day to avoid peak time electric fees, it is auto turn on and off every day. The miner is autorun using the task scheduler after the rig is on. It has 10 gpus (6*rx580 + 4*gtx1070) so can generate around 300mhs. However, I have noted that when the rig is auto on and run the miner, it only got around 292mhs. I have to manually close the miner and run it again to get 300mhs, otherwise, it will stay around 289~292. I also found that the report hashrates in bitfly is unsteady when it's around 289~292. if I restart the miner (not rig), the report hashrates will be steadily staying at 300mhs

For me, it sounds like the miner needs to be "warm up"?? anyone here got the same problem?? Btw, I remember I don't have this problem when using claymore.

Maybe it's because of really high heat of this summer because my cards (from Sapphire) automatically reduce their power when temperature are really high to prevent damage to the cards.
I used to get 31.5MH for each of my RX580 cards in spring and winter but now I have 29MH at most of the time and 26MH for some really really hot days but when I manually restart PhoenixMiner each time I get 31.5MH at first 5 minutes then it's changing itself to that protected state again.
I like this feature though I don't know it's Phoenix doing it or my Sapphire cards but I like it that my cards can protect themselves from really high temperatures and I think that 4-5MH is not worth breaking card in this really hot summer.

Why -clgreen 1 didn't work?

Miner just write that GPU0 is ignore -clgreen 1 option. Polaris cards RX 580 8Gb.

why the hell does it say "newbie"
i manage 30 rigs have been mining since december 2016
have sanded my radeon 7 heatsink flat it gets 90 megahash on air, broke another radeon 7 (cried),
tuned the hell out of over 250 gpus from rx460s through the whole range . bios modded everything that can be
got a vega fe to run at 45 megahash (it still is) . . . . im not a newbie for gods sake
all our rigs are on turtle, monero or raptoreum in addition to eth. totally stable mostly
in fact most of our problems are pci risers - not gpus or software
ha ha .
bestwishes to the durrty miners

dwagent is great for remote access on windows and its free

we have about 30 rigs- all amd -all windows 10 ghost spectre (no updates no bloat no telemetry)
been trying 5.7b with the -clkernel 3 option

all the rigs that are "on the ragged edge" showed no improvement.
eg a nice rx580 rig thats fully tuned and gets 185 megahash for over a year now - no improvement
all the shagged old gpus that are core 950 and mem 1800 wont take clkernel 3 at all

but the polaris gpus we have that are not on the ragged edge show a very slight improvement with clkernel 3

if you dont want to break a gpu set -ttli70 (or even lower) - we ran through the recent uk heatwave with no breakages

if you have reboot.bat and -rmode 2 your rig will reboot if a gpu hangs - very useful
if you watch you can see which gpus fail with clkernel 3 and set them to clkernel 1
so if gpus 1 and 6 don't like it you set
-clkernel 1,3,3,3,3,1
also if your gpu is running a screen its more likely to not like clkernel 3

hope this helps someone
ps fave gpu is still sapphire nitro rx470 all ours get 30 megahash but only require one 6 pin power cable

I tried to use the -clKernel 3  option (Phoenix 5.7b) for various drivers from 18.6.1 to 21 .... but on each of these drivers -clKernel 3 is ignored for all GPU (RX580 Nitro+  8GB Micron and Hynix cards)

Same here with MSI RX 580 8 Go Armor without 'clkernel 3' I get 32-33 Mh/s

Thanks for the reply but i get the same result... the config file is not loaded, even if i add all the settings to the cmd line and it i can not load the extra settings ... i am clueless. with windows all works Ok .....

if i run in the terminal inside of phoenix folder  the full cmd comand it do not load the extra settings ..... it loads the phoenix , the wallet ... but all the rest remais default.

I use a script like this as to get the best performance PhoenixMiner needs to run as root. Looking at your config, txt there is a typo in it.

config,txt (this is mine):

-nvidia
-nvKernel 3
-nvdo 1
-mode 1
-ftime 10
-gt 0
-tt -55
-cdm 2
-cdmport 10050
-cclock -400
-mclock +1100
-powlim -35
-prate 0.0703
-log 0
-logdir /home/USER/PhoenixMiner_5.6d
-logfile nvidia-pm.log
-pool ssl://eu1.ethermine.org:5555
-pool2 ssl://us1.ethermine.org:5555
-wal YOUR_WALLET
-pass x
-proto 3

Change USER and WALLET to your own.
I noticed you used Nvidia options.

The script I use is:

Code:
#!/bin/bash
#
#set -x

if [ "$EUID" -ne 0 ]; then
echo
echo "Please run with sudo or as root"
echo "Usage: (su or sudo) ./miner.sh"
echo
exit
fi

export GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=1
export GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE=100
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
export GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

MDIR="$HOME/PhoenixMiner_5.6d"
MINER="$MDIR/PhoenixMiner"

# To have PhoenixMiner running in the background put a hash in front of the next
# line and unhash the last line.
$MINER -config $MDIR/config.txt
#nohup $MINER -config $MDIR/config.txt >/dev/null 2>&1 &

# For monitoring you can use your browser with
# http://localhost:10050 or whatever cdmport you configured in the config.txt.

This script you can put in your HOME directory or desktop.

Hi.
I have allways used windows with phoenix, now i am thinking about to change it top linux ( ubuntu) and i am making some tests with it, i have a problem , i can not load the config file properly, neither make phoenix tu use the extra settings i use. it only loads default values meaning i do not get the extra hashrate with overclocking, and undervolting,  here are my example files :

For AMD cards, you need to set the kernel parameter to enable overlooking and voltage adjustments in Linux.

https://www.blog.albertbling.com/posts/how-to-mine-ethereum-on-linux

PhoenixMiner also needs to run as root to set overclock and power limit.

For Nvidia cards, you need to enable coolbits in the xorg.conf file for each card to allow overclocking and power limit. For overclocking a single card, you can run X-server as a standard user. To be able to set overclocks and power adjustments for multiple Nvidia cards, the X-server needs to run as root.

I'm not sure exactly but maybe terminal's current directory is not your PhoenixMiner directory and that's why your config.txt file can't load.

create a .sh file (like mining.sh) in the same directory as PhoenixMiner and add this to it, then try running .sh file in terminal.

Code:
#!/bin/sh
cd "$(dirname "$0")"
export GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=1
export GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE=100
export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
export GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
./PhoenixMiner

line 2 code, cd command set terminal current directory to where the .sh file is.

  • Implemented new "turbo" kernels (-clkernel 3) for AMD Polaris cards that can work with the current DAG sizes over 4 GB. Note that -clkernel 3 uses double the VRAM and will provide slightly faster hashrate with slightly higher power consumption. You can use the -rvram command-line parameter to specify how much VRAM to be left unused

Please let us know if you have any problems or questions related to PhoenixMiner 5.7b.

Tried the -clkernel 3 on my RX 480 8GB and got lower hashrates than -clkernel 2.
I'm on windows 10 20H2, Radeon Software version 21.6.1
I'm only using the -vmr 25 parameter and -gt 69 as per benchmark suggestion.
Everything else is default.
Your current gt value 69 is not the optimal for -clkernel 3. Put -gt 0 in your settings to find the new best gt value for -clkernel 3. After that you can put -gt NEW_BEST_GT_FOUND_VALUE in your settings.

Thank you very much. I will look into that.

Aaaand nothing changed.
If you have amd rx470/480/570/580 GPUs you will get +0.1mh/s per GPU with -clkernel 3. You will not get increase with Vega, Navi or Nvidia GPUs.
The option -clKernel 3 is ignored for all GPU, when i use -clKernel 3. nitro+ rx570 8g samsung, stock bios.
You are using very old drivers. Update the amd gpu driver.
which version bro? im using 20.4.2
