Didn't they do this in the past? I remember reading from an arficle way back in 2015 that someone purchased a box of pizza which is worth a couple thousands of bitcoins at the time. Though I wouldn't really be surprised if they drop it immediately as bitcoin was not that prpfitable in the past and added to this the fact that there is limited ways for users to cash the coins out.
Good for them.

Their local currency is so inflated that it's just not worth holding onto, all they can do is pay their bills and buy groceries today because tomorrow it can be worth 1% less Wink

On the other hand bitcoin fees are a little too high to buy pizza unless you're throwing a party. I hope to see their sales reports for the next 3 months.
I think it's still a good news for the people of Venezuela as they are starting to shift into a different way of paying things aside from the oil-based dollar that is slowly seeing decline as more and more people go electric. I hope to see more of this in the future

This news makes me very happy because it is happening in my country Venezuela. I am going to share the experience of a user in Venezuela who in turn works for Binance Marketing Latin America.

Among the comments of the clients they said about the use of Bitcoin to pay and the long wait for the confirmation of the transaction. Another client commented that he paid with BUSD and it was very fast.

Regarding the government's actions on the use of cryptocurrencies and if any tax will be applied to their use, I have no information. We are still in the euphoria of the moment. The use of cryptocurrencies in Venezuela is necessary due to its inflation problems.

this is good news, more and more merchants are accepting payments via Bitcoin...
but it is very unfortunate that in my country this cannot be done because my country's finance minister prohibits all types of payments in cryptocurrency, our country government sees Bitcoin as just an 'asset', if there is a trader who accepts payments in Bitcoin then that person's business will be closed.

This is very good news that Pizza Hut has begun to accept crypto payments across South American countries.
Pizza Hut is owned by Yum! Brands who also owns the restaurant chains KFC and Taco Bell.
If these other 2 companies began to accept crypto in South America that would be even better.

Another milestone again for bitcoin adaptation, and for sure many big companies will also be attracted to use bitcoin as an alternative payment,  I hope Pizza hut will do this not only in South America but also internationally worldwide.
I think maybe Bitcoin adoption has spread all over the world and all the big companies are probably planning to use Bitcoin for payments, but this company might still think of the government there if they use Bitcoin, because every country has very different regulations for its government. So all countries are not easy to use Bitcoin as their means of payment on a daily basis.

With so many good news everyday for bitcoin's adoption makes it more reasonable for price to hit its new ATH anytime soon and that's no surprise at all it will happen before end of the year. It is more convenient for bitcoin's enthusiasts to add bitcoin in the payment system because this will be a good start to fully apply such transactions not only for pizza hut but also other companies already accepted bitcoin and other future companies will soon join the adoption.

Nice jump for crypto, we know if crypto can be used for anything including purchases at restaurants or whatever. but not many countries have adopted this. so I think hopefully in the future there will be more and more outlets that can use bitcoin for transactions.

All countries still have to do with regulations, so this is what is a bit of a problem in some countries why bitcoin cannot be fully adopted. However, this could happen in the future if bitcoin is growing because the concept used is more principled towards alternative payments besides using conventional payments.

OP should at least give the reference link of his post.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/pizza-hut-to-accept-bitcoin-for-pies-in-venezuela

This is great! Not just because over 20k stores accept bitcoin but because it's pizza!. Pizza is the origin of bitcoin as a means of payment and it's great to see that official pizza stores now accept it too. About the government, I don't see what they can do because the more people know and use bitcoin, the more strong bitcoin gets.

Yes, that's a good story though. And also, fastfood chain needs to add options for payment method as cash is somewhat avoided these days of pandemic.

Well you couldn't blame them. South America is teeming with nations that are plagued with hyperinflation for their currencies, and the only way to offset that at least is to accept some other currency apart from the local one in order to preserve and save some profits along the way. This is also a good move considering that bitcoin is on the rise right now, and all they could do is just sell it immediately and hold a little longer for maximum profit. It's only a little while before restaurants and other such establishments would start accepting bitcoin again. They wouldn't want to miss on the hype, and they should get early on as soon as possible.

They are facing bankruptcy in US.
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/08/17/business/pizza-hut-closures-npc-international/index.html

Food and beverages industry hitted badly by the pandemic situation. In my country, Pizza Hut sells their pizza on the street to survive. I think Pizza Hut accepting bitcoin is just for marketing purpose, because bitcoin became a major topic since the bullrun. It’s good if they really do it, but using bitcoin to buy pizza on this bullish market is not a wise choice.

Also, a fast food with a slow payment?
Maybe the lightning network or any other faster cryptos.

Great news for all bitcoin enthusiasts. I cant believe that they decide to make an oustanding move like that. Not many company accepts bitcoin due to high risks and high fees. But I bet bitcoin lovers will spend some of their bitcoin for pizza. 11 years ago, we had the first bitcoin transaction of buying pizzq, bow we have a whole pizza company accepting bitcoin

Well, I guess this is a start. It isn't odd that restaurants that cater more for deliveries are the ones that are first implementing this since Bitcoin is for cashless transactions. I guess this opens up the crypto industry towards other restaurants, and hey, maybe other official businesses as well ranging from technology, clothing, etc. I just hope that it isn't going to be restricted by countries from now on, since that would be hugely detrimental to it actually developing worldwide.

Oh and on another note, glad to see news about Bitcoin being seen as a "currency" instead of an "investment" after quite some time.
I'm happy to hear that there are now popular companies that are start accepting bitcoin as payment, Pizza hut is good and for sure that what they released in the public can increase their reputation because there are only few companies that are accepting bitcoin as payment. I wonder on how they will add it in their system because we all know that bitcoin is so volatile so tracking their sales and gross profit is hard because of the price fluctuations but for sure that they study it very well and it is the reason why they implement a new system which is accepting bitcoin as payment. I want to see that they will also allow some of their branches in south east asia for me to try the service that they are offering. I wanted to see more popular companies like this where they will also start accepting payment using bitcoin.

Adaptation like this are no longer new, still it's always good to hear good news like this, no doubt in a few months time we will see more and more adoptions like this, looks like fastfood/restaurants are beginning to like bitcoin alot, since the transaction done with it are really fast, I think this will make the price of bitcoin to continue rising, cause with more adoption taking place, the demand for bitcoin will definitely increase, and I feel like the government will pained by this, since they are anti-crypto,i just hope businesses in my country will also embrace this new technology soon, it would be really great.

I was under the impression that Pizza Hut was going out of business. I looked into it after reading this story and it turns out that it was only one of their franchise providers which went bankrupt but their parent company, which also owns KFC and Taco Bell, is still going strong. It is great news that they are still around and some of their locations have started accepting Bitcoin, although this seems like it could just be a publicity stunt.

We could say that many businesses are welcoming crypto and taking a part in it as a normal market interaction. The demand for Bitcoin and online selling makes them decide to accept it, in fact, not only Pizza Hut but also big establishments are having the same which is the best idea.
If we closely take a look at the market today, most people are doing transactions online which Bitcoin is more viable and those people have Bitcoin will likely to choose store and establishment that accept it. Good thing that Pizza Hut makes such decisions.
