So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
This new merit's rules really difficult for me. I every day write new post English and Russian but anybody don't get even 1 merit.

I will be try writte much more and intersting but i am not sure that it helpful.

So you are here for merit only? Your words speak your actions and that you are posting for getting merit. If you continue with this attitude rest assured you can goodbye to getting merits or even hoping to rank up. About the problem with Russian local board, appoint a local merit source among your reputed members who are active in the forum. Its not possible for English speaking non-Russians to merit your posts written in Russian. Theymos also wants to look into local merit sources as it was stated in their post about merit system.

beside what already other members said, having such system, is not effective at all, we already have the report to moderator.
some people here have hundreds of account that can be used to abuse that system.
Mods have their hands full (if not overflowing) with poop from the shitposters and having to clean up their toilet mess.

I would like to recommend  a system where members can do it as a like (+1)/dislike (-1) feature where you have unlimited input, and can down vote the spammers and moderators can take the final decision (Very much similar to Reddit)
There is already a thread explaining why a Reddit kind of upvoting won't be effective on reducing spam and shitpost as to compared to our current merit system now.

The only way that this Reddit kind of Merit System will work is if the users cannot delete or even edit posts (which is bad) or their is a time lock (let say 3-5 hours) before you can edit or delete your post so that if their posts received several down votes then they won't have the option to save their merits points by deleting their own post. So tell me would you like that kind of system? Where if a good majority of those people disagree or even think your post is shit they will down vote/ demerit it for sure?

You just registered this account on 4/11/18, and you're already bitching about how you're not getting merits?  Fuck off.  With that and other bullshit posts like
It's really good information but i am absent there, and i don't have even 1 merit.
...there's no chance of you getting any, nor of ranking up and earning money here with your shitposts.

Why exactly are you a member here anyway?  I'd like you to answer that question, assuming you come back to this thread to see it.

Another merit thread :p
Well I'm not a senior member at all....  and no way close even :p... also not related to Theymos either Cheesy But I like the merit system. and I even believe it should be more strict... why? I have couple of reasons

- BitcoinTalk is like a center discussion forum of Crypto Currency, for authenticity of any ICO or Bitcoin Fork I come first to this forum before going to google. I don't trust ICO reviews but I trust the valuable comments from Senior Members here on BitcoinTalk.

- To be a senior member of the this forum should be a pride to oneself and it should not be easy to get it. Only worthy people should reach this level. It should take time and enough experience to be a HERO. They should prove it first.

I would like to recommend  a system where members can do it as a like (+1)/dislike (-1) ...snip... (Very much similar to Reddit)
So you really think Theymos who has been on this forum for almost a decade now... did not know about Reddit? like seriously?
Of course he/ knew it there must be hundreds of option on the table voting should be the easiest one first one should come in mind. But see free voting is not managed and merit is managed by seniors and respectable member of the community (you can disagree, but seniors are seniors)

(Read article and comments as well)
Well I thought there would be hundreds of negative comments but just 2 comments and i believe of it is from you... hahaha is this the best you can come up with?

Here is a very broad generalisation.

Bounty hunters don't like the merit system, as they don't seem to be able to earn merits. This means they can't rank up to scrounge cash from the efforts of the genuine forum members.

Established Bitcoiners think the merit system is great, as it helps them to talk about Bitcoin without being swamped with spam.

Ultimately the merit system will get rid of the spammy and scammy bounty programmes, and allow Bitcoin Talk to return to being the great resource that it used to be.

Conclusion - the merit system is working, and it's a great innovation that could save Bitcoin Talk from the cesspit.
While a generalization, I wouldn't say that this is far from the truth. The merit system is effective in preventing new accounts from ranking up just by making posts. This leaves many people unsatisfied and the rush of new users in this forum coincides with the introduction of the merit system.

I don't however think that bounty hunters are necessarily worried about such matters. Bounties, excluding signature campaigns, are not dependent on forum rank. In fact, many bounty tasks are done outside of the forum. Bitcointalk is only used for reporting on completed tasks by bounty managers that don't utilize an automated tracking system and in so a bitcointalk account is a necessity.

Is it a new way of earning?

No.

Highrank is directly related to earning of the member.

No. No. No.

Merit is not a new way of earning. Members of this forum get rewarded for contributing to the forum. If they're buying merit, the merit will live a short life. They can buy their way into a higher rank, but they can't buy their participation in a campaign.

It seems like one more complaint topic, which was  even understandable at the beginning but not now. When Merit system was implemented my fisrt reaction was of disagreement and I tried to imagine fairer systems for the problem. The difference is: for me it lasted only for a few days and I ended up getting used and understanding the positive sides of this new system.

It has been months since merit system was implemented and people still complaining and trying to suggest new ideas. Any evaluation about efficiency of merit system will be in the long run, at least a year.

I know this forum is a place for ideas discussion, but I consider all these new suggestions a waste of time.

Reddit is a goddamn cesspit and not the standard to which we should be aspiring.  Unlimited input just means people could register multiple accounts and spam the +1 or -1 buttons to suit their agenda.  That's just encouraging abuse, so it's a categorical "no" to that idea.

Merit system is not actually serving the purpose.

The purpose is to stop people attaining a high rank through posting nothing but total garbage.  Seems to be working.  The solution isn't to remove merit, you just need to enhance your knowledge and understanding to the point where you can offer helpful or insightful contributions to the forum.  Once you reach that stage, you won't even have to think about merit.  It will just happen.  People will notice if you're enhancing the discussion.

Thanks buddy, that's like a legendary reply. Really appreciate your words. My intentions are not bad. May be it's too early to judge this merit system.

So anyway, I applied as a merit source :)
When merit trading will be dealt with the permanent ban and same with selling BTT account, people will put more effort in earning merits. When some smuck shamelessly send 10-50 merits to his alt or friend right here on Meta board, I feel only frustration.System should be equal, right now I see like about thousand cases of merit exchanges between ats or friends. What trill of receiving one merit you're talking about if cheaters get 50? Giving default merits wasn't a good idea, better to increase the number of merit sources. All eyes will be on them, so merit sources won't cheat.

Such cases should be reported tot he proper place for DT to act on. If you know of such incidents then by all means do report them and watch them get negged and then you can have a good laugh. Merit is helping indirectly to catch alt account spammers if you dont know yet.

Quote
The only good thing that default merits will be finished soon.
Still abusers need to be punished.

@OP
The ones who complain are the ones who dont see it from the perspective of the people of the forum who are trying to control the level of garbage shitposting. Merit was created to stop that and its working nicely considering all the "merit begging" threads thats coming up.

Here is the actual truth of Merit System (What you think?):

The title of the article below is :

Merit - A definition of, Rich people become Richer, POOR people maintain POOR.  Grin Grin

https://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinTalk/comments/7t5aoc/bitcointalk_dev_trolling_with_merit_system/
(Read article and comments as well)
...

What do I - a mere member whom people like you think will be doomed to my lowly status forever - think? Well, firstly, that reddit post is unreadable. I made it through about the first paragraph before I gave up trying to parse the shitty gEnglish.

Secondly, all you people whining about merit being unfair need to shut up and give the damn system a chance; it's only been in effect for 3 months, after all.

That said, my impression as of now is that people that stick to certain sections which have a high signal to noise ratio but few merit sources (like altcoins\mining) will earn merit at a far slower rate than, say, those in bitcoin\technical discussion (or that favorite for merit-whoring, meta). However, adding a few more merit sources to the more neglected subfora would easily rectify this situation and theymos seems to be keen to make such tweaks (vs. outright dismantling a system he clearly spent much effort devising).

Finally, if you want a complaint about the merit system to be taken seriously your post history better not be filled with bounty submissions and sig campaign spam. Ergo, I'm not taking your complaint seriously.

What is the purpose of this thread? Do you think yet another one complaining about merit is going to change theymos' mind and he'll revert back to the old system? All these threads do time after time is expose the poor posters that the system was put in to reduce.

Here is the actual truth of Merit System (What you think?):

No. That's just another lazy shitposter complaining that his easy cash cow has been culled and you are another one. What we actually had before the merit system was poor people earning from poor posts over as many accounts as they wanted and now they're annoyed they simply cannot make 480 crappy one-liners over time and magically become a Hero Member. Pure greed and pure laziness because all you're annoyed at is you can't maximise your money as quickly as you would have liked and now to get anywhere actual effort is required. Just look at your posts history. All crappy one liners right up until merit is introduced. I mean, why bother writing anything more than a line when you don't need to? God knows how many accounts you signed up here with and were doing this on. I imagine it's not just this one hence why you and others are so annoyed.

I am looking for blog bounty...  if any?

Hi would like to join blog bounty

Wgich is tge better option, Cloud mining or self?

If the merit system hadn't of been introduced you would of happily continued making these sorts of posts continually and that's why the system is there and is working. The only people who are complaining about this are those lazy posters who thought they had an easy ride to earning money for doing relatively nothing. Now that has changed. Those who are able to contribute something constructive here are not complaining about this. It's just those who are purely here to earn in the laziest way possible and I don't see anything bad about that.

But the amount of merit it takes to rank up is laughably ridiculous.

The amount of people that sign up to this forum just to earn by posting utter nonsense on their two hundred alt accounts is laughably ridiculous. Things had to change. Would you prefer signatures are disabled completely? Because that's the next step.

There are a lot of people who believe it was created to keep those at lower rank without the possibility of ranking up.

There's a lot of idiots here. That's just a moronic conspiracy theory dreamed up by butthurt kids. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Why would theymos care about this or create a system where it is exactly possible for people to achieve higher ranks? Only the catch is you have to contribute something valid now. OMG CONSPIRICI FERY. If people write excellent posts then they will very likely achieve the merit in the time it would have taken them to naturally achieve the rank.

We are Bitcoin!
You are expressing just your feeling. This is what I feel about merit. I feel recognition, motivation, encouragement  when I receive every single merit.

Let's analyse it from another direction using a real example. On Feb 07, I joined Bitcoin forum (https://forum.bitcoin.com/) thinking to become an early adopter before they implement any restriction to stop easy rank up. You never know someday may be that will also be a popular forum like BitcoinTalk now. After creating the account you want to know what I did or doing...?

I guess I will give you a demonstration.

Some comments I made on the several posts...

Click here if unable to see image

More: 1, 2.... there are more. I'm not just bothered. Fuck it.

Question is what do you see there?

1st my intention was bad... "to become an early adopter before they implement any restriction in easy rank up"
2nd since my intention was bad I really do not care about giving value to that community. Doing shit there.
3rd when I post i know nothing gonna happen so again I do not care that much.

BitcoinTalk became really popular 1st because of this was THE earliest forum for Bitcoin 2nd the marketing policy of allowing signature campaign.

An overpopulated place like BitcoinTalk really needed something to protect the forum and merit is ONE OF THE best thing so far have introduced IMO.

Lesson:
Merit is saving the forum from lazy posts, spamming.
Signature campaign is necessary to make a forum attractive for the members.

Observe Adapt Overcome - this is I am saying now a days.

Yes, Its another side of coin. And seems to be very logical. Agreed!!! Still cases of buying /selling merit are not justified. For example Established Bitcoiner may sell merit to a bounty hunter. (thread link attached above)

and if the problems are bounty hunters even it is better to stop bounty threads or ask bounty posters to remove signature bounty. Removel of signature and avatar will make this forum completely spam free.
Many users are showing ads of websites or posting "Hire me - Bounty manager" it is also a same way of spamming or earning?
