I'm all for using formatting strategically, but if it gets in the way of clear communication then what's the damn point?  Just keep it clean and simple - you can get your point across without turning your post into a circus poster.

Actually what you are saying is that your Signature is a circus design!

Well, it worked, didn't it? Mission accomplished!

for now I like green

Good choice! It suits you.

(One day you'll blossom into a real adult, I'm sure of it.)

What LoyceV said actually reminds me of how I messed up the slide for my project defense.

During the time I did my project defense at the university, I prepared my slides so colorfully ❤💛💚💙💜 that when I sent them to my supervisor to get a review and remarks, the first question she asked me was, "Am I a baby? She said playing with too much color in coolly written content can actually make the content look offensive to the readers. Color should only be used when there is a need for it; for example, it should be used to point out some action words or incidents that the writer feels are very necessary for the readers to take note of. Color should be used in accordance, not just to paint your whole write-up with too many colors.

@OP, I agree with what some people have already said here: make your write-ups simple, and if you are not sure of how to correctly use the color, just avoid it.

My very first post on Bitcointalk was complaining about a captcha. I've come a long way since then, and can solve any captcha to prove how human I am.
well if that's the case, then I'm not gonna ask questions pertaining to this again...like i normally say: I don't care about this... cus why TF Should I? I just wanted to be able to differentiate between an AI poster, a real human and possibly, a bot! If this was alleged against someone else, I'll ask the same questions too...
Y'all have been around for too long to have a couple of grudges with different people of your caliber, or maybe some handful of opportunist who'd end up envying y'all for not being where you at...etc.
I see where the problem is

Please vote and give us your pros and cons in a friendly and civilized manner.

Imho it is always about nuances.
Some exaggerate and use too many colors, too much bold, and in many cases they still have an ugly wall of text, just more colored.
Some can format it nicely, maybe add a hint of color here and there and make it so nice that even those opposing colors will like it.

Sadly under this kind of polls I expect to see the first kind of posts, hence my vote is against it.
But it's a free world and a free forum: you are free to post in the way you like it and... no offense intended (at all!) I am free to ignore you if I find out for example that your posts constantly make my eyes hurt.

Very well said and commented!

LoyceV is a bot. Bots don't do anything manually!
I'm seeing this again for the second time; aside from reading scraps of stories from 2019 about loyce's allegations, I haven't had full confirmations as to whether or not this is true... I've also realized that alot of reputable members are saying the same thing too, so let me get this straight; is Loyce not ready to prove 'em otherwise? Does this practically infer that they've got a thicker skin?..and that they shouldn't respond to vindicate themselves for this reason?

Op, are you a designer? I think designers like Jay, Hugeblack and more should be the ones with great affinity to coloration. The real question should be, what is the essence of using these colours. It could be to Warn, to emphasize, and more. If so, these things doesn't appear so often, why use then often. This forum is not like the social media with great graphics, anything added here that is more than the default will always want to battle with the background of the forum. Even reading Op, I was pissed to understand that you wrote upto 3 paragraphs on bold. What exactly was the essence of bolding the whole thread. Keep it simple, anything you do more than the default will not only stress you but other forum users as well.

If you are pissed, why bother commenting, just move on. Carpe Diem

I don't see any serious thing over here to raise this topic because this options has been there even before you and I joined this forum and there is a reason for adding them therefore no need to insert any poll to remove these options, the thing is we should know when to use them and where to apply them while posting here.

no problem at all, just let a few others agree with you to shut down the Poll, I will shut it down.

In general, most people might think that they'll attract alot of traffic to their post by making it too colourful.. i don't know who fed 'em with this lame idea.

@LoyceV, do you create that colored post manually? I’m always curious on how do you guys do that (if not manually typing and attaching bbcode color).    Undecided
This isn't enough reason to assume Loyce's a bot... They could simply have different aids; one of which may be a merit bot?.. iDK
I don't know why this has been unascertain for years now.

Colors are good, but you are simply overdoing it. Look at your post history, it looks like a notebook of a student from 3rd standard trying to colorize their homework to make it look beautiful. Do you think that is how it should be done? Use colors, but at least be moderate with them.

And I completely disagree with your reference to signature codes when you are trying to make a point. The world is full of colors, but we are not supposed to paint our faces with multiple colors and then say that there are so many colors around, why shouldn't I make myself look colored? You don't do that because your natural color is good as it is. The same thing applies to posts and signature codes. Posts are texts, and the natural and suitable color for that is black, and signatures are designs and designs are supposed to be colorful.

For text colors I hard read text that are all colored because it affects my eyes so hard in a way I can't endure to finished reading the messages most time what I does is that I might copy any text that is colored and paste it into my Msword  and it will be all black then I can read it.

Things to know about your formating tools /text:
You must know where to apply fontcolor
You must know when to apply them
You must know how to apply them
You must know the area or text to use colors.
You must know when to use your bold
You must know where/when to use italics
You must know when to use underline
And many more..
If you know all these things correctly I don't think you will have any issues with any body while writing over here, the main goal is to understand the forum very well before using any tools.

But you did not respond to the quoted text. would you like a black text signature? and if all signatures were black text?[/b][/color]

Well, signatures are somewhat  like some kinda designs made to attract readers to clicking  their  text which is inform a url (with different colors) and if it's  in a black format, there might not be any difference  to a  normal text  .

I don't  dispute the fact of using a coloured text and for someone like you who loves a long text u might quite use it but not making it to obvious throught the text , I would  suggest  using to catch attention  towards reading  about a particular text in your construction.
Besides, there are some forum users who write long text just like you  and don't  make use of color styling,  just bold styling is beign used .

Fair enough

I thought we could agree that a Signature only in black would not catch the eye of potential customers and would be boring and probably easy to overlook. That is my opinion.

That there are members who like to type long text in black is fine by me, and I think everyone should do it as they please according to the options given.

I love bitcoin because for me it is democracy.

Cheers

Colored text is not the problem. The way you design your text is annoying because it unnecessarily screams for attention as if it demands to be read. Like for example, the text in this topic. Why would you feel the need to make it bold? Did you think that otherwise people would not read it?

Design your text in a non-spammy way and you won't hurt our eyes or annoy us.

haha If I'm annoying you, don't feel pressured to post just to show your signature. I call it signature spamming.

do you like green more Huh

By the way, I opened this legit and serious poll to have a friendly and productive discussion and then it would be more than legit to show your signature this way.
Why do you always get personal? you don't have to like me, but why not stay on topic without attacking and insulting?

Can you imagine a signature campaign where the signature is in black and not even bold Huh

I like it colorful and well designed

IMO making all text  or selecting  too many  line for a color could make it some how outrageous(permit me to use the word don't  be offended), why not just styling a header or styling  some words from your text.... I think It will make it much more better you know just saying...

ok no offense taken

LoyceV is a bot. Bots don't do anything manually!

By the way, have you read his colored text?

Or go full crazy and use https://www.stuffbydavid.com/textcolorizer

I obviously read his colored post and this is the main reason for my curiosity for my question. It’s mind blowing to think that he will manually type all this bbcode color code since it’s not available as default in the forum. I hope this is already not Off topic on this thread considering that this is all about text color discussion. Sorry @jackpotracer for slightly hijacking your thread.

Wow!! I didn't  know we could use hex format , on sight I had to quote to check how it's been done, it was so cool .

Afaik Signature code frequently use hex format if you look at the bbcode of all the signature design in the forum.

All fine! as I started the Signature color discussion here  Smiley
