If I recall correctly, I reached the forum at the time when searching for information on Bitcoin. I probably performed a Google search for "Bitcoin forum" and made it here through one of the results that popped-up.
What was the reference driver (source, not motive) that drove you to Bitcointalk?
I have the same experience as most of the users here.

I find out Bitcointalk with the help of my friend which is using Bitcointalk already for almost a year at the time he introduces it to me. When I first time to hear this site I didn't think twice but I registered here immediately as he stated that I can learn something regarding money here. He didn't share that this is new kind of money. I asked some basics of how to learn here etc. and after few months, I have learned the basics of cryptocurrency and as of this moment, my knowledge is still increasing but I don't want to learn the complex side of Bitcoin Cheesy. I'm enough with the basics already.

It almost certainly would've been a search engine.

Considering this site's place in history it's pretty weird how rarely it's cited or referred to elsewhere. I've hardly ever seen it mentioned in any mainstream media, apart from Ross Ulbricht fucking up here and pizzas, and not all that often in the crypto 'press' either.

I met Bitcointalk in a peculiar way, I was on the computer one day looking for movies to watch, at that time the movie did not want to download, while I waited I bothered to read a minichat that was on that site (I don't remember the page) and they talked On cryptocurrencies, I had previously seen publicity about rewards paid in bitcoin but at that time I was almost sure it was just a scam.

When I saw what they were talking about in that minichat it started to intrigue me, especially when they tallked about airdrops, then I looked for a little more information and that's when I learned about fauset and mining, at first I was very attracted to be able to mine but The mining equipment is expensive and consumes a lot of electricity, so I opted for the fausets, but I realized that they paid very little, one of which has always been the most famous is "FreeBitcoin" is to claim a small amount of satoshis every 60 minutes.
Finally, I remember that although I put a coinbase address, nothing deposit to me, so I got a little disappointed and left it for 5 months, until I saw advertising of an airdrop on Facebook, I contacted the user and told him that I want to participate in a airdrop, it's called "DeepOnion" I registered and participated in the project. It is known that to register in that forum a BitcoinTalk ID is necessary, then that's how I met bitcointalk.

What happened later? Deeponion breached rules in Bitcointalk time later, it should be noted that that time I dedicated myself to something else and removed the signature, now I participated again in this forum with the intention of knowing more about Bitcoin, last year was a year of correction for Bitcoin, this year I see positive behaviors that will be reflected in the Altcoins.

I have a friend who wouldn't stop talking about bitcoin and bitcointalk, voluntarily or involuntarily he aroused my interest in the both of them, being the inquisitive person that I am, I decided to try it out, but that's now being about one of the best decisions I've made.

I think I've also return that favor a couple of times as I can't stop talking about bitcoin and bitcointalk to those around me Cheesy

That's like the opposite to me. I'm quite reserved to most of the people. Especially, over the years I've had people be rather hostile towards Bitcoin or not understanding that its an actual currency, and not "play" money. I do talk about it, but it usually means that they have taken an interest, and not just me ramming it down their throats.

I really want to be an advocate to Bitcoin publicly, but I think I think when you get questioned by friends, and possibly family members it can be quite the deterrent. There's many reasons why people find Bitcoin, but I'd like to think that its because they are sick, and tired of the traditional currencies, and the systems which thrive in these environments (banking systems).

I genuinely can’t remember if I’m being honest. I was introduced to bitcoin in May 2014 which is when I started to buy & HODL.

I signed up here in September 2014, I probably found this place via google or something because I’m certain nobody told me about bitcointalk.org

That was the first time I heard of bitcoin, a friend of mine introduced me to bitcoin and bitcointalk.
At that time I was very curious about bitcoin so I decided to learn about bitcoin and the best place to learn about bitcoin at that time was the bitcointalk forum.
At that time, I had made a large amount of bitcoins, but I could not keep the patience and sold them, if I could keep that amount of bitcoins until 2017, it would certainly be different.

For my story, airdrop campaigns brought me here. Almost all campaigns back in 2017 would require airdrop hunters to visit their bitcointalk thread and make constructive comment IIRC. Given that many of us were new back then, the constructive comments were more like spams  Cheesy It was not the best way to start but we all learn.

I have been reading the comments and noticed two different reasons from the same account.

How I am here?

I knew about bitcoin first, then the second one is Ethereum. I search (by Google, thanks for it) with Ethereum and Vitalik Buterin, and results of the search led me here, bitcointalk.org. I did not have any aims when I participated in the forum. At my first glance in the forum, and my first impression, the forum is very boring, texts, texts and texts, mostly texts. And the forum was abundant with thanks, hi, hello, one line posts some months since the day I participated in the forum. After some months, I realized that it was only short term shitshows as a consequence of altcoin booms in 2017.

Now, I am being here as a Senior member, with all of my 421 merits are earned by myself.

Thanks for the forum, the community, available topics, answers to my questions, and all admins, moderators, patrollers, you all helped me to get a lot of knowledge in crypto as well as security and privacy, that I believe I hardly get on any other forums.
I knew about the forum in 2017 when the guy I know on Facebook made his status about airdrops for old accounts. He is very famous in my local, so I created my account because of my curiosity (I knew he stated old accounts). One those days, I did not know too much about bitcoin, and crypto currency so that forum is helpful for me (I only felt it is helpful months later).

That is where I came from and joined the forum. I know you guys mostly don't want to see such boring stories but it is mine.

It was a friend who introduced me to bitcointalk. The one who also introduced me about cryptocurrency. At first I really have no idea what cryptocurrency is and even its existence. But when a friend of mine told me about cryptocurrency and blockchain I was still confused because it's not easy to understand at first so he told me about this forum. He told me to read some threads in order to learn something even the basic one.

Previously when I was doing freelancing for adding airdrops while adding on their site for example Coin airdrops. I found one step was there where it was mentioned that there is a need to mention site name to Bitcointalk link. This made me curious about bitcointalk, I thought what is this link that is so important. Then I searched for bitcoin talk for more details in google and navigated to bitcointalk.org and I have started reading it from that time onwards I have never left this forum always feel like it is a very good community to gain some knowledge.

If Im not mistaken I saw it in a local forum site in our country when I was searching for extra online income opportunity and I saw a thread regarding bitcoin and I got curious since the exchange rate is really high at that time I think 1 btc = $300 but the thread starter to that forum never talked about this forum bitcointalk then I search on google about bitcoin and I found this website.

I never knew bitcointalk forum until my brother in law tells her wife (my sister) and also tells my brother that they should join and participate in ICOs. It was on January 2018 that he introduced bitcointalk.org forum to my sister, my brother and myself as well that is why my bitcointalk.org account creation is January 21, 2018. Directly found bitcointalk forum because of my brother-in-law. Submitted my vote (Relative : Family).

I got to know the Bitcoin Talk relationship through a friend of mine. He used to work long ago He just gave me the link and said that you can work here with an ID. At first, I was very annoyed but later I used my talent to see the different places and post many campaigns.

I came across bitcointalk while searching for bitcoin forums where I can post a query related to hardware wallet. Since then there is not a day or two where I don't come to this place. You need to be here to be updated.

Almost same, though there are people who already mention it to me but I don't really give a damn, then eventually I search something about bitcoin wallet and I see it and bounties about some wallet too.
