My prediction: 6 months from now darkcoin will mostly be forgotten, and then referred to as a scam. The hype is very similar to what megacoin had, and then quark. Something new and brighter will always come along and steal their fanboys.

My vote is for the real Zerocoin (now known as Zerocash) when it is released (ETA May).

released or just another whitepaper stating more problems they found (block chain bloat version 2) Tongue

Read this analysis from Anonymint about Zerocash/coin - this guy knows his stuff!!!

The "other" coin that will make it big is the one that thinks of the end user, which is the merchants.
Any coin that puts mining above all else is doomed!

+1 only truly anonymous coin
Definitely Darkcoin - decentralised master nodes which rewards and punishes the nodes based on behaviour. First x11 algo which reduces temps/electricity... I see it as the only viable mainstream option at this point.

Darkcoin gives 99.999% anonymity with an architecture model that is almost impossible to attack once open sourced. Id say the NSA is the only one that has a remote chance.
Darkcoin only has psuedoanonymity through trustless mixing (Darksend).

Zerocoin/Zerocash is too complex
.. Not an issue

and has too many avenues to be exploited

Bytecoin - The anonymity and ring signatures I think is a serious contender if another coin implemented its code. Byte is already 80% mined and most probably very centralised in its distribution so I don't see it taking off.

I didn't realize how long AnonCoin has been around. I've decided to back DarkCoin instead since it is currently kicking ass and taking names. Go, Dark!

Interesting ones:

1. DarkCoin: Has a function beta after 3 months, being actively tested as we speak. Based on randomly selected masternodes that have the necessary incentives to behave and can't do any damage even if they don't. Looks promising.
2. ByteCoin: Very mysterious, to say the least. If the ring signatures are functioning as intended with no exploits, that's a huge step. I'm trying to mine it, but not getting any coins since I have to solo. Tongue

Questionable ones:

1. Anoncoin: Has been around for almost a year and has nothing to show for it. That's some remarkable incompetence, unless I've misunderstood the coin's intention (I2P by itself is nothing). It now seems to be hoping to free ride on Zerocoin's code.
2. Fedoracoin: Centralized mixing? Already exists for BTC. Blockchain.info charges for it, but DarkWallet just came out to do it for free. Pretty irrelevant anyway, since it requires trust.

If Darkcoin  opens sources its anonymous send feature, perhaps none of them will. It may be a future coin instead.

Anoncoin because of the already implemented i2p features, which will be combined with the Zerocoin implementation providing real anonymity Grin
