I totally agree with your opinion about the possible measures to stop online gambling addiction. A problem can only be solved when it's firstly assumed as a problem otherwise it'll continue to linger and might even get to stage where nothing can be done about it to safe the situation.
Most of these gambling addicts will always tell you that they're not addicts rather they're in full control of what they're doing making it difficult for anyone to talk them out of their predicament.

A big problem hides with that mentality with a gambler can't admit that they are already having addiction problem there's no help that you can provide or there's nothing that they will listen, knowing that inside them they can't no longer control but continue to insist that they still in control and they still can avoid any problem that may occur while participating into gambling.

You can't do anything with someone who wanted to push for more instead of re-assessing the situation and start quitting away
from this activity that already harming their mental and financial capabilities.

The peak, is awareness. Having full awareness of one's actions and routines can make someone recognize themselves if they have gone too far. or in other words, has lost control. Regarding gambling, addiction problems can affect anyone who enjoys this hobby. There are those who realize it but have difficulty getting out of their addiction, there are also those who don't realize that they have become part of a gambling addict.
The point is, there are various cases in society related to gambling addiction. but generally as you said, one of the underlying is a mentality problem. not a few gamblers who deny that they are not part of the gambling addiction. Maybe you are like that too, or it could be me. for sure, everyone who likes gambling has the potential to become addicted.

Well, back again as I said at the beginning. Ultimately, is understanding. when we have a good understanding of gambling, as well as all the risks. Without realizing it, we already have at least some responsibilities that give birth to self-control. but in practice, it's not as easy as I said. In fact, in many cases, there are many gamblers who want to stop their excessive activities. Unfortunately, they don't have a strong mentality. and, without intention based on strong determination. which in the end, it is difficult for a person to get out of the circle that has become part of his life. That's why we need to realize what the essence of the gambling we do is, apart from the profits we can get easily.

Self-controlled is the only effective way to stop yourself from gambling completely. No matter how strongly a gambler is addicted to gambling, it is only possible to get out of gambling completely if he believes in himself and resolves to be free from all negative activities. But if self-restraint is not possible to get out of gambling then he must take motivational advice and talk to a good motivational consultant and then take effective measures.
No one can get rid of any addiction by self control alone. If a person becomes addicted to gambling and he wants to stop gambling completely then his family will be the most helpful for him, because in such a situation no one can stop any addiction without the help of family. When a gambler becomes addicted to gambling, the family has to bear the consequences of all his mistakes, so the family is the first to try to free him from this situation.

Yes, but the importance of self control is very important, if he does not have self control, then no motivation will be effective for him, he will go to a worse situation day by day.

Don't talk as if gambling is such a bad thing after all, being addicted to gambling is as a result of several factors, and such factors are like, over gambling, like chasing after loses, which is mostly as a result of gambling with funds one can not afford to loss and losing it..
For those who are already addicted to gambling, it is very important to know that a gambler will always remain a gambler, it will be very hard to completely stop gambling, what i advice is, just as you have said, the gambler should learn self control, seek help outside if the addiction is too deep that the gambler can not help or control himself..

At the end, we should always remember that gambling is just a means of having fun, not a means to or of making money, putting the desire for money first in gambling is one of the ways people end up as addicts.

He had to admit that he had a gambling addiction and needed help to get out of it. Maybe he could talk to a trusted family member for advice on what to do. To quit gambling with the help of family members, he will be able to slowly reduce his gambling activities while finding other activities that can help him take his mind off it so he doesn't think about gambling. This may still be difficult for him, but once again, with intention, everything can be done. He can also go to a professional who can help him overcome his gambling addiction to get more advice on what he should do.

And this is because we have countless examples of people that are obviously addicted claiming that they can leave their addiction behind as soon as they decide to do so, but they never do, they always find an excuse to not even try, as they know very well that if they did try they will fail, and then they will have to not only admit they were wrong but that they have lost complete control over their lives.
I think everyone has their own view of what the word addiction and addicts mean, for me personally addiction and addicts usually spend their time and money gambling all the time and even forget about the people around them, for example family as well as even other jobs, while for other people a person who only gambles on the weekends and always has a limited budget for gambling cannot be called an addict.

That's what I do every weekend gambling that doesn't mean I don't say that I'm not an addict, gambling for fun just to fill the free time on weekends, so even with a budget limit so that when it runs out I won't make another deposit to gamble again, as long as it can still be controlled it cannot be said as an addict who is trapped with an addiction without realizing it, I did gambling that weekend because I was very aware, therefore I managed my time and controlled it because I have work and family that I have to share time for both besides gambling. i just claim that i am not an addict because i can stop gambling whenever i want.
An addict is someone that has developed a physical and psychological dependency to something, and as such they have a compulsion to keep doing that something to the detriment of themselves and their families.

Someone which can stop whenever they want is not an addict, now they may lose more money than what they intended and they could gamble too much for the standards of some other people, however there is no way to characterize those people as addicted.

From the comments I have read so far some comments suggest that we should block our browser ads notifications, block gambling sites or turn off our internet while some others talk about avoid having much gambling friends. Well all of those are tangible but  are all a secondary measures to stop gambling addiction. The most significant thing to do primarily is to have self discipline and having a gambling budget. Without discipline you can't adhere and work with whatever decision you have taken to stop yourself from been an addict to gambling, so the core measure is self discipline and planned budget, with this all other measures can be actualized in the course of eliminating a gambling addicted habit.

I think the first driving factor is being disciplined, taking a firm decision and standing by it. I've actually read through some responses and I saw something like cutting off internet connection, blocking gambling sites on phones/laptops and all that. This might actually work or just a temporary solution. Why? Because we've friends, brothers, colleagues and coworkers that are into gambling and sometimes they tell us about their winnings and we might be tempted. I have been there, though I wouldn't call myself an addict. At work your colleagues talks about their winnings, at home your siblings or friends do the same thing. If you're not disciplined enough, you might find yourself going back to your old habit.
Blocking gambling sites is the better solution.
Turning off the internet is a big problem, especially in this era where everything moves either on social media or Google. Like me, I always forget some things today but Google has always been the answer for that. Definitions, synonyms, and more.
I don't turn off my internet even though I see my kids being naughty about it. It's the discipline that will matter. If a gambler knows his limit then that's it. Stop at the time when there are no more funds left, and give up the test of chasing the losses because that will just lead to more losses.
Last week, I lost all my funds for gambling playtime, and yet I am not that eager to gamble more or deposit just to play. If the budget is done, then I am gone. Will play again if there's spare money on my salary.

You are correct mate. Blocking or restricting casino sites on your device is quite alright as that would not allow any further pop up or attempt to browse any casino site on your device. It is not in any way advisable to turn off your internet  because you will have other activities that would require internet connection as it  would not be reasonable you block yourself off internet. What it takes is discipline.
Off lately on the gambling board a member was complained that he wrote to his casino which he often use as a result of his addiction instructing them to close his account forgetting to withdraw his funds on the account and after sometime, he wrote again to the same casino to open his account so he could withdraw his funds but the casino objected to his plea and asked him to write to their team to further discuss the issue  as relates to his account reopening. This is where discipline comes into play. He wrote to the casino to help close his account as a result of addiction which is a good one but after sometime he still wrote them again to reopen the same account he asked them to close to curtail his addiction but he wasn't discipline enough to control himself that is where the problem is.
Self discipline matters alot when taking decision as it regards issues of this nature.

Smart is not enough, there must be skills
You need to have that realization that there's no way that you can continually earn out from gambling its more on entertainment and pastime, but once you enter to the stage that you are already trying to keep winning that's the time that you may suffer, chances to be out of control may take place you needed to be more extra careful as addiction is something that very difficult to handle and cure once it's already conquer your entire mindset.
So that's the wrong way to have the pattern without realizing we will continue to fall into addiction while other people who can control it will not be worse than what is played with gambling because they have limits and have this pattern as pleasure not income.
You know that is the most difficult thing to overcome when they are severely addicted, their psychology has been disturbed, meaning that they need the help of psychologists to direct them to the right path in the sense that they do not continue to worsen because they are blind to gambling.

Some friends keep bringing you back to gambling even when you decide to just be a passerby after losing your life savings  Grin

Leaving gambling is not just what can happen overnight, you need effort to make a personal decision on it to stop and stop for real, some people after stopping they will still go back to it because they lack the discipline. It is discipline that will make you even when you have gambling app on your phone, you won't open it. So it is not about keeping your phones or laptop off internet but a discipline heart to go pass those contemplation to play.
Any friend that reminds me or keeps pressuring me to gamble, I'm wasting no time than to cut them of. Gambling is very easy to start but very difficult to stop, we gamble to earn extra change for the purpose to provide for our wants, but it seems we hits the wrong path of hustling. Gambling is not a stream of generating income, and we shouldn't depend on it for any reason, it's unreliable and risky. I've made substantial losses from gambling which I've kept to myself till this present time, feeling it to be a trap to entrapped more individuals to betting.

It might not be a deliberate attempt to lure you back to gambling. Sometimes your friends might be discussing about football and you walk right in and and join the conversation, then one of them opens his phone to show his winnings. You congratulate him and tell him how happy you are, later at home that voice starts ringing in your head to give it a try that you can be lucky this time around.

Well said mate, but unfortunately some persons see it as a source of income, they don't for once consider the risks and the entrapment. Even when they are losing they just believe that one day they are going to hit it big and before they know it they've been trapped, they start borrowing or selling their properties to gamble.

I very much agree with this.

It will highly depend on your capability to dodge off the temptations around you. It's really needed to be careful and wise when it comes to building your gambling habit so you won't be addicted on the duration of your gambling journey. It's harder to recover from being addicted than preventing yourself into becoming one. Hence, you must put it in your mind that you should only spend a certain time and amount of money in gambling to avoid being dependent on it. Limit yourself from doing things that are not really in your goal. You can try exploring other recreational activities that doesn't involve money to relax and occupy your free time to break free once in a while on your gambling routine. This way, you'll be able to have some breather that will prevent you from getting so hooked up in gambling.

Our children should be monitored at all certain points, especially when they are using personal mobile phones, because one never knows what they are doing or what websites they are visiting. We have everything at our disposal, and we must make effective use of this essential data because even minor errors can cost us everything that we cherish. Technology has improved to the point where we may sit comfortably at home and wager on games online without drawing the attention of anybody except ourselves.  We make decisions that will either be detrimental or positive in the long run.
Nowadays, most parents don't really focus on these things, they just give mobile phones and laptops and everything to their children and don't monitor their activities on a regular basis which makes the children completely free to do whatever they want, they don't even fear their parents because they don't ask what they do and scold them or make them grounded if they are found something which they shouldn't be doing and this is causing issues among children.

Just recently, there was a news that a guy from high school committed suicide only because he had lost his and his friend's school fees in gambling and this is definitely because his parents never cared about what he had been doing and never monitored his activities and that's why he was involved in such things.
Giving all their children's wishes without monitoring their activities can make their children feel that they now have freedom so that they can do all sorts of things that their parents don't know about. It is not uncommon for children to commit immoral acts that their parents do not know about. Some end up falling into gambling, which makes them spend the monthly money given by their parents, and if the money runs out, they can ask their parents for more money, and their parents will give it straight away.

Today's children can lie easily because their parents don't check what really happened, which makes many children go the wrong way. And there was indeed news about a child and his friend who lost their school money because of gambling. Parents must play an active role in monitoring the activities of their children and not just leave it completely to the teacher or caregiver. Indeed, this requires serious attention to reduce these things slowly.

It's truly unfortunate to hear about cases like that. Children should always be under the control of their parents. I mean it's important to give them some freedom and space but also it's equally important to monitor them from time to time and discover what they might be hiding. This stuffs are necessary because involvement in addictions or illegal activities could potentially devastate their lives.

The current generation is capable of a wide range of behaviors, and one cannot predict what might come from a child whose parents are not actively involved in their upbringing.
