I agree with you that this season’s title will be tightly contested between the current top 4 teams as well as other qualification places and also the relegation battle will be close too. First is I don’t want City winning the league again because they haven’t been any team that has done a straight Quadruple of the league and I will want it to be so. The next pick is Liverpool, last season they were bad but right now they seem to be back even though they lack some form of depth in their squad they are the only person who can mount a real tittle challenge against city, although I still don’t want them to lift it too but prefer Arsenal due to the struggles they did face last season, Although this year they seem to be lacking in ability than even the last season when they pushed for the title but I still prefer them.

The league is just kind of interesting and tough; the point difference between Liverpool, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham is just kind of close. I know it’s kind of early to conclude which club will win the league, but one of the club which I will mention below might end up win the league this season is between Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester City. And as we can see, Arsenal's performance is also dropping gradually. I don’t really know the reason for that. In their last 5 matches played, it’s surprising that they lost 3 matches, they played 1 draw and 1 loss. It’s not really a nice one for them, but I will prefer Liverpool or Manchester City to win the league this season. I don’t think Aston Villa and Tottenham have any chances to win the league this season.

I feel like it's basically obvious that Arsenal is gone, they are not going to win the title. Don't get me wrong, they are still quite close to the top, and it could still happen, but I really do not think that they will overturn anything. They have lost two very crucial games that they needed to make six points, if they did, they would be 46 points, leader of the league, and also just one point ahead of Liverpool but four points ahead of third Aston Villa, so that would put some distance.

Ok but frankly speaking, Newcastle United would have been well advised if they invested a decent amount of money into new good players. I am not against their approach as I think it is refreshing to see a club that doesn't go nuts and invest billions and is making ill-considered decisions all the time because money doesn't matter, but I think they were too low key during the transfer periods. Aston villas form this season has been really outstanding with their performance as compared to last season they at some point want to dare to be at the top of the table and possibly aim to winning the trophy, Liverpool currently looks very promising with the trophy this season but like you have rightly stated, they will be suffering some set back during the AFCON as their highest goal scorer will be absent but it doesn't mean that wouldn't be able to win games but the challenge will be with the fact that they will have only few goals to their wins.
I don't really have a good explanation either for Newcastle's decline, but I would not exclude the Champions League from the evaluation of their performance. Dortmund should have been an opponent they can beat. AC Milan I think so, too. They did beat PSG in that amazing game at home, but overall their performance wasn't sufficient to make it to the next round. But I think the Champions League should be taken into account because it's the same there as it is in the Premier League for Newcastle at the moment. They can't consistently perform on their best level. They have some games that are shockingly good and then they have these blackouts like recently against really some of the weaker teams.
