I don't understand why 11 minutes was added... Some strange match... City should have won, but on 101 minutes Arsenal scored a goal... For me there is a lot of confusion in this game... Arsenal of course also played well, but somehow strange they scored a goal in 11 extra minutes...

It wasn’t confusing, it was required considering the amount of stop and play involved in the game. There was a long break involving a head to head collision between Partey and Walker which wasted lots of time. And even at that we were told that they are going to be changes in the time added in the matches due to long talks, delayed time by winning team, balls kicked out (part of the reason why Alvarez was booked during first half for kicking the ball away) and also the time wasted on celebrations. I am sure that was the all testrone done today. But still English refs are still awful in terms of decision making.

Arteta made some errors in todays match, he should have substituted Harvertz earlier than when he did, and Timber was really performing well in his position, he shouldn’t have substituted him, immediately Arteta removed Timber then Manchester City had the opportunity to score their goal.

Yes Arteta formation and tactics were bad today, firstly Timber was excellent but struggled to use his left foot from the left side properly, since Zincheko is available then Timber should start as a Center back and Zinchenko at the left. Then that settles the back four. Although Ramsadale saved a penalty today I still feel arsenal needs another goal keeper and Raya will be a good upgrade. The midfield picks it self today because I love the three players there, they complement each other. As for attack Nketiah should be ahead of Havertz and Trossard needs more time on the left wing. While Saka also needs a competition

Great game today between Man City and Arsenal. Both teams played real solid football. Despite not being a fan, I'm actually happy for Areteta and his team for the work they have been doing for years now. It's beginning to bear fruit despite their shortcomings last season. This win means more than just thr trophy. It just means Arsenal is going to compete actively for the EPL trophy this season. The years of man city being the only dominant team might have ended.

It's going to be a darned good season.

11 minutes of injury  time is a bit too much, but whatever the recochet and confusion at City's goal, Arsenal went into overtime and then beat City on penalties. I will say that Arsenal played quite well, and I expected City to beat them in regular time, but Arteta was able to adequately resist. Mixed feelings about this match, but in any case, congratulations to Arsenal on their first win this season, maybe it will give them extra confidence in the new season.
Of course 11 minutes is too much for a final between two big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City, but to be honest, I don't know why the referee gave 11 extra minutes to this final. I really thought the game would end in Manchester City's favor, but in the end Arsenal got the magic that went on to retake the FA Community Shield.

Congratulations to Arsenal and all the supporters, it's a great title to start a great season. Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are resigned to losing on penalties, but this can happen to anyone when it comes to penalty shoot-outs.

In fact throughout the game time it was evident that the teams were playing at the same level, no wonder not many goals were scored. I also don't understand about such a big extra time, there were few pauses and not so big that would add 11 minutes, but it played into Arsenal's hands. Fun fact by the way, when arsenal win the cup, Manchester city wins the EPL Roll Eyes
The two players that had a head clash during a corner against Man City were the ones that led to the game pause. From my understanding, Arsenal used that little break to have more energy to withstand Man city pressure and unlucky for City Akanji leg deflected the ball into the goal post. Arsenal has really improved in their game because I never expected such brilliant performance from them. Arteta and his team will have a fantastic surprise for their fans this season. Pep should have see this coming because history repeated itself again. In community shield Arsenal is always king over Man City.
Manchester city has never always been a scare to Arsenal for as long as I can remember. The team I think is more scary to Arsenal among the two Manchesters, is Manchester United.
Arsenal just lacked the grit last season because sincerely they weren't expecting to go that far with the kind of players who were still not experienced enough to handle the pressure till the end of a season.

Today's game was simply awesome and both teams actually showed us that they deserved to be on top the table. Impressive display from Havert and Saka and am hoping to see more improvement from Saka in subsequent games. It would have almost ended like the champions league final against Inter Milan which ended 1nil in favour of Manchester city, but well am glad over the outcome.
At least Arsenal got a compensation trophy for a good finish.

I believe Pep had good reasons for dropping Debruyne to the bench and it doesn't mean that he underestimated Arsenal. Manchester City played well today and controlled most of the game but luck was not on their side.
I checked the match statistics, sure enough that Manchester City dominated this match well, but in the end luck was not their thing in the last minutes. Leandro Trossard, who entered in the second half, managed to score a goal even though his shot did not go straight to the goal which was escorted by Stefan Ortega. The Manchester City defenders failed to anticipate the shot which in the end in to Stefan Ortega's goal and he was fooled.

Arsenal deserved the title they won regardless of how they tried. Arsenal tried until the last second and they were really ready to win the title when they faced penalty shoot-out. Pep Guardiola deservedly be disappointed for the day's failure, but maybe that's the end of it.

I watched the match from beginning till the end Arsenal had really improved on their game with their new signings the trio of  Timber, Havertz and Declan Rice live up to expectations especially Timber who was very solid at the left back
Arsenal tried today, but I didn’t see any changes in Arsenal’s performance, they still played just the same way they played last season, but Arsenal made the right move by signing Timber, he really performed well in todays match, I wasn’t expecting such a brilliant performance from him today.

Harvertz performance was not impressing today, he had lots of opportunities most especially in the first half of the match and he wasted all the opportunities, if he was able to convert all those chances to goal, then Arsenal will have won Manchester city with a reasonable margin.

Arteta made some errors in todays match, he should have substituted Harvertz earlier than when he did, and Timber was really performing well in his position, he shouldn’t have substituted him, immediately Arteta removed Timber then Manchester City had the opportunity to score their goal.

I'm also happy about Arsenal's win of today and I wished they had won the Premiere League last season but today's win for me was also a bit of a mistake by Guardiola. He probably underestimated Arsenal because in a game like this Bruyne has to be in the starting line-up and not come on as a substitute in the 64th minute. 10 minutes after being substituted on, he immediately made the assist for the goal.

Though Arsenal won but I'm not pleased with Kai Havertz performance. I expected Arteta to substitute him in the early minutes of the second half but that didn't happen, rather Justin Timber who was having a fantastic game was replaced by Tierney who couldn't do much to prevent Cole Palmer's opener. Arteta made some errors with his changes in the game.

Really lucky goal right at the end for Arsenal to take it to penalties but they won’t care. Some really calm penalties by the Gunners in the shootout too.

The Community Shield means nothing as Liverpool beat Man City in last years one and we all know how last season panned out. This was a very enjoyable day for Arsenal fans though.

It cannot be denied, that it was a really lucky goal scored by Trossard at the end of the game. if that shot had not hit Akanji, it was unlikely that Trossard's shot would have resulted in a goal. but at least, in this match Arsenal were able to provide quite an interesting resistance. even though initially Arsenal were more depressed in the game, gradually they were able to start being able to get out and follow the rhythm of Manchester City's game.

In the second half, the Gunners played a little more dominant in possession. despite the fact, City had the better chance with 5 total shots and 4 on target. while Arsenal, only had 3 total shots and only one shot on target. at least, this fight was quite entertaining for me as a Gunners supporter. plus, this match is an important match to raise the motivation and mentality of the team as a whole. at least, now Arsenal are better prepared to welcome the 2023/2024 season.

I watched the match from beginning till the end Arsenal had really improved on their game with their new signings the trio of  Timber, Havertz and Declan Rice live up to expectations especially Timber who was very solid at the left back shortly after he was substituted Man City scored the opening goal by Palmer, however I think Man City had a slight domination compared to their previous meetings when they used to take most of the possessions and Haaland was kept quiet in most part of the match, winning the community shield will boost the morale of Arsenal players in readiness for the league proper next weekend.
I am not surprised by Arsenal's success regarding the Community Shield title. Arsenal have won 17 titles in that competition (including this one), while Manchester City have won just 6. Pep Guardiola has won 2 titles with Manchester City for the Community Shield title in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 seasons. But today's failure may not be what they wanted.

Arteta has improved Arsenal's form but about today I think Arsenal really got lucky with late goals. I'm not sure why the referee had to give 11 minutes to injury time in the second half, but this seems odd for a final. But I don't see any issue about that that's worth arguing about, so Arsenal and his success with the title deserves credit.

Eddie Howe is an excellent coach. Newcastle were a bottom-of-the-table team. No one imagined that this team would qualify for the Champions League. Eddie Howe has been able to stabilize this team. There were no star players in the squad. Even then, the team was at the top of the points table due to the understanding between the players and good match strategy.

Eddie Howe believes in going slow. And strengthening the team gradually makes it last longer. Perhaps this is why Eddie Howe is in no rush to strengthen his squad. I wouldn't have high hopes for Newcastle in the Champions League next season. But expect this team to fight for the top four of the Premier League table.
Because of their owners near limitless resources I expected Newcastle to do more in the transfer market. Liverpool and Chelsea both had uncharacteristic bad seasons, I expect both teams to finish above Newcastle this season.
New owners with abundant money do not make Newcastle not so much in the transfer window now, they like to save or because they want to achieve the old process?

I think Chelsea is worse than Liverpool despite only finishing for the Europa League, Chelsea has no competition in Europe.
Liverpool for me is now a little more recovered, I know it is still a possibility. Cheesy

15 minutes to go, wonder if we’ll get a late winner or if this is going to go all the way to penalties. City dominating possession but Arsenal defending well. There’s not much space for City to play in, I’m sure there will be late drama though. There usually is in these type of games.

Edit - There we go 1-0  Cheesy

Arsenal managed to score at the last minute. It was a very nice end of the match, it is very nice that the last minutes passed with such goals. At the end of the match, we watched the penalty shootout. Arsenal managed to win the match. I think the Manchester City players need some penalty kick practice Smiley

What a recovery in the final minutes for Arsenal.

The draw was deserved and they won the lottery of penalties.

Congratulations to Arsenal. It's always nice to open a season with a cup. They won 5 of last 10 cups and totally dominated Community Shield last decade.
I hope they recover quick from last seasons trauma and be competitive this season in Premier League. My favorite is Manchester City again but I'd like to see similar competition this season as well. One team's dominance kinda ruin the fun.

I have to say, Arsenal was really lucky to be able to score on the 11th minute of the added extra time. Now of course they did work really hard to actually be able to level the score. But I have to say they were very lucky. Bad luck for Manchester City I would say. It was definitely looking like Manchester City is going to take the win. But at the same time I have to say it was really bad penalty shootout by Manchester City. They certainly should have done better.

But of course, it was great performance from Arsenal. They have started the season on a great note. Let’s see if they can continue performing well like this going forward.

Congratulations to Arsenal FC for winning the English community shield and their first silverware for the season. After been beaten by Manchester City for 8 conservative times, Arteta has finally broken the jinx with a stalemate. It looks like the game was over and the cup was heading towards City's until a late minute strike from Trossard was deflected by Akanji, and found the back of the net to put the gunners back in the game. Arsenal scored all penalty shootout while 1 missed from KD and 1 save from Ramsdale gave the gunners the victory.
Congratulations to Us Arsenal fans, at least we started the season with a victory against our toughest opponent Manchester City.

It was an interesting game to watch because there were a lot of chances that were missed by both Arsenal and Manchester City, but at the end, Arsenal players were able to show some resistance and improve their performance in the last minutes of the game, which helped them secure a draw, and luckily they won in penalties.

The additional 11 minutes are a bit much for an extra time, but it was due to some time wasted in the game, and because there will be no extra time after 90 minutes, that's why. But it all ended in favour of Arsenal, and this has proven that Arsenal can as well compete for the Premier League title again next season.

After so many years of match losses by Arsenal against Manchester City, Arsenal has now broken the yoke by having their first win against Manchester City by winning the Community Shield By 4 - 1 in a penalty shootout.
Arsenal's well-deserved victory in a penalty shootout was made possible by Trossard's late goal, which tied the game at 1:1 with Manchester. Congratulations to Arsenal on capturing the Community Shield for a record-breaking 17th time.

When he came on for the game, the commentator said that he was recovering from a hamstring injury that was why he did not start in the game, so that's a good reason for it. But Arsenal did not win because Manchester City did not play well, Arsenal team simply did not just allow the Manchester City win, they kept trying to score until the last minute and it worked out. Also Arsenal were able to win in the penalty because they were prepared for it from the preseason games they played because they played penalties regardless of whatever the result was. Happy for Arsenal, they were not embarrassed again by Manchester City.
