Wow! Man Utd just got KO'd by Derby County, that's a devastating blow for the both the team and Mourinho, I mean, they just lost against a low tier side in the third round of the league cup...what?

I watched the game, and I gotta say, I think Man Utd deserved to get KO, first half was alright, but it was mind blowing just how the team kinda gave up on the attack in the 2nd half, it's like they didn't have any motivation to keep playing, though the red card to Romero didn't help either. Props to Derby County for playing the way they did, 2nd half they decided to go deeper on the attack, and it actually worked as they scored two goals, could've been three and game over if it wasn't for Grant's save in the last 10 min.

This victory could mean a lot to the future of Lampard's career as a manager. Also, what a game from Harry Wilson, only 21yo but what a player.

Derby aren't exactly a low-tier side. They're doing pretty well in the Championship and have a few great players. That free kick Harry Wilson scored was world class and he's a player on loan from Liverpool. United fielded essentially a B-team and nobody really gives a shit about the crappy Carabao cup. United have had lots of losses to smaller teams in such competitions as well. They got beat 4-0 a few years ago in the same competition by MK Dons: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/28847955

Underdogs always have so much more to play for in these competitions but it's probably best United being out of it so they can concentrate on getting back into form in the Premier League.

Yup...  Getting out early at the League Cup isn't really something to cry about.  Lol.  It's some sports writers making a big thing out of it cos 'it's United'...  But really, one less tourney Mou is in gives him more time to focus on the real trophies.  The CL and the FA Cup.

Since there are some potentially one sided games this week i'm thinking about a simple accumulator.

To win:

Man utd
Man city
Liverpool
Tottenham

Not sure about including Chelsea or Arsenal though. thoughts?

EDIT: Only about 3.35 for the above teams on acca. With Chelsea and Arsenal it's up to 7.27 so will probably include them anyway  Smiley

Didn't think it would be Man Utd that would let me down!

Couple of tricky games this week. Man City are probably going to win. Man Utd and Tottenham seem to be safe bets despite being away from home. Everything else I'm not so sure on.

Anyone have thoughts on Chelsea v Liverpool?

"The story of the Premier League's worst team": https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5531005/DERBY.html

but it's probably best United being out of it so they can concentrate on getting back into form in the Premier League.
One of the biggest clubs in the world should have ambition, and it's expected that such team should win every single competition they're in, no matter how small they are. And given how bad things are within the club, I think the last thing they needed is getting KO'd by a small team in the league cup which is nothing but an embarrassment for the club.

We'll see how things play out from now on, but I don't believe this is the best that could've happened to United.

Now the gap between Championship clubs and traditional big clubs in the Premier League is reduced after seeing Derby upset Man United in the league cup. I feel that the players are not happy with Mourinho and are trying to pressure the board to get rid of him with a string of bad results. I predict that United will not be able to achieve Top 4 given that many of United rivals are performing well.

Manchester United a great club once are now one of the most pathetic football club to watch, not only their football is boring and extremely poor but their off the pitch issues are just getting lame day by day. In Sir Alex time we had attacking football, we were the comeback kings and now any club can turn up and beat us. Derby a club managed by Lampard who has zero experience when compared to Mourinho comes and stuns Mourinho which says it all, I hate it but Mourinho needs to be Sacked and no Zidane is not the answer.

If you remember against wolves morinho had to use tactics in the middle of games normally used in the dying minutes to secure a victory, which shows he doesn't have the mantle to be the head coach. Manchester United are 8 points down in premier league, knocked out of the club competition, their star player wishes to leave, all of Mourinho signings aware turning a flop, this is simply painful to watch as a die hard Manchester United fan.

Mignolet and Lovran will replace Allison and Van Dijk in coming Liverpool game against Chelsea

A little of topic.I have been reading that Man United financial situation is not very bright
Man had record revenue over 500 mln pounds but 487 mln pound debt is remaining

There are early birds saying that  Abramovich will sell Chelsea.Price is 3 bln pounds

It is because he has problem to extend his visa
That replacement is only for Carabao Cup right? Well i think it's good for rotation and let's see is Mignolet is good or not, i heard Van Dijk is injured. Without the main GK and defender, hmm, it will be big for Liverpool, especially against Chelsea.

Yeah. Not so much an issue of resting Alisson, rather to give Mignolet a role, while Lovren does need to get his game fitness back as really need a backup defender, even if Dijk's injury can be overcome. I know and like the depth we've now got in midfield and attack but it's really the CBs that the Reds sorely need some cover.

Fabinho might get his start tonight, no better place than at Anfield and to host Chelsea. They will probably be motivated to perform above normal levels after slipping up on Sunday, but Liverpool have yet to get into second gear and hopefully this is the catalyst for that. Klopp wants this win and so do I, the Reds are beasts and they can sleep when the season's over!

Anyway who wants to bet on Derby winning or drawing? Draw or Derby win double chance x4 easy Wink

See, it really isn't difficult to see Man United losing or drawing to a team like Derby, as long as you have average quality and are willing to attack, you can cause them so much problems in defence. Why wasn't de Gea even on the bench we will not know. Why did he not bring in Sanchez yet? We don't know. Fellaini rescued them but Phil Jones lost it for them.

Rumors all of them. United have an old debt problem we already know this. And Abramovich selling Chelsea after getting Sarri? No way.

Man United will not replace coach during season if Man United result will be very poor than maybe we can have coach change during winter break. There is not tragedy yet

Mourinho just needs to grow up and realize that his tactics and man management are not working for the current players he has. He may have been able to boss around guys like John Terry Lampard in the past or even Zlatan, but these are strong characters who can be shaped and truly professional. Now you have Sanchez and Pogba, who are sort of divas. I mean the piano playing of Sanchez and Pogba just being a ridiculous kid sometimes.

It's not his fault Mou but he has to evolve.

Didn't watch the game, but looks like the Hammers parked the bus and got a point from Chelski! 29% possession and registering 1 shot on target vs 7.

Liverpool top of the league after 6 games, this I have never seen, not with CCity and the Blues nipping at the heels with huge goal differences!

Lost a bet on Chelsea but well worth the result. And now Carabo Cup, will we see Fabinho start his first game? Klopp should still be fielding a strong team even if not all are first choice starters... Maybe Moreno at least gets some game time, poor Robbo needs a break.

Happy times, gotta make the most of it, ya LFC?

I don’t really care about the Carabao Cup but I really want to see us beat them at Stamford Bridge at the weekend. Got a feeling we might draw that but hopefully I’m wrong.

Manchester United are going into a dark tunnel 8 points away from the lead after 6 rounds .. It is difficult to explain to and it's creating a lot of rumors about them this draw was their worst game of the season Sometimes big teams don't play that well but gets their three points but they had them in their hands and waisted it so they remain with only one clean sheets from their 6 league matches.

Man Utd haven't exactly had a challenging start, either. The only big team they've faced so far has been Spurs, where they got humped 3-0. They've beaten Leicester, Burnley and Watford, drawn to Wolves and lost to Spurs and Brighton. If they continue playing like this, they will be very lucky to get a top 4 finish. How long do they let Mou stay - whatever he's doing, it clearly isn't working.

Manchester United are seventh in the table and only six points behind second place. Losing to Spurs and drawing with Wolves isn't a sackable offense for Jose. Wolves have been playing pretty good and also even drew against Manchester City. City lost at home to Lyon. Maybe Pep should be sacked soon as well? Manchester United will be lucky to get top four because there's so many great teams now. Spurs and Liverpool weren't even in the running five years ago and a bit before that even City were just an average team. Times change but this isn't Jose's fault, but if he does ever go I hope they do actually get Zidane because I'd bet money he won't do much better or win them much if anything before they sack him.

^  Even if the Zidane rumor was true, I don't think it's gonna be the right move.  They need to swallow the bitter pill and realize that it's gonna be hard years ahead and rebuild.

But if they really wanted their success to continue post Fergie, then they shouldn't have made Moyes as SAF's replacement (then LVG after him)...  In hindsight, they should have gone for Pep (after his hear long sabbatical) and only Pep imo.

I agree with you; Zidane it not the right move immediately if anything. People keep forgetting that Zidane was give an already well prepared team to manage, with quality players all around the pitch at his disposal, he wasn't made to build a team. It is the same issue with Mourinho, this is the first time he is actually trying to build an actual team - and this is very difficult. All his other success the team was was more or less built, he just needed to add a few more tweaks. For Man united, the board Ed Woodword are not prepared to spend heavy like Real Madrid or Chelsea in the early days of Abramovich, so it is a tough job.

Most managers would have achieved greatness taking over Real when Zidane did. Let's not forget Fergie took years to build a title winning team. People are also forgetting that there's just so many great teams in the Premier League now so that's why United are struggling, especially when I'd put City and Liverpool up there with the best teams on the planet right now.

What a weekend for everyone. United frustrating, Chelsea frustrated. Liverpool make history. Burnley get first win.

I don't think many people predicted Chelsea to draw and even fewer predicted scoreless, which is for me excellent news because it boosts West Ham's chances and gives some confidence to Pellegrini.

Stupid headlines when I saw something in the news feed I thought Pocchetino was getting sacked haha, turns out he was just saying he could face being fired if they lose to Brighton. But if that really happens then we can confirm Tottenham have a really shit board of directors (we are only thinking it not yet confirming it).

Which headlines?  Can you post them?  And I don't think he 'could' get the sack even if they lose vs Brighton.  They need Poch...  Without him they'd be in football limbo...  Again.  Like they were under Redknapp, AVB and even before those two.

By headlines he probably means some idiot he saw post some baseless speculation somewhere. Wish people would stop calling or speculating for managers to be sacked after they lose a couple of games. Poch is going nowhere win or lose their next game. Spurs could easily win the league within a couple of years and Poch is probably the man to do it with them.

The headlines something like players react to shock announcement from boss. And highlighted the quote of where he said something like maybe he has a week, or something like that. So I thought he announced resignation, but he was just out of context quoted. Google gives me stupid headlines.
Well i think it's because of the hectic schedule, chelsea went to Greece and back play again on premier league in 3 days. Liverpool on the top 1 right now because of that. This season is gonna be good man, Arsenal back to a good track and top 5 will be hard to predict.
