Man City 2 - 0 Chelsea

A walk in the park for the Citizens. Stone was immense today, same with Bernardo Silva. Poor game from Mahrez, I expected more.

On the other hand, underwhelming performance from Chelsea. I think the midfield was key, Chelsea really missed Kante today, without him, Chelsea's pressing was just poor which allowed Man City to make smooth transitions. Honestly, I didn't expect much from Sarri's team, the players are still adapting to the new system, and it's gonna take a while before they get used to the new tactics.

The game could've ended 3-0 or 4-0, but Caballero was superb. All in all, Chelsea were outplayed.

Sergio Aguero scored in the 13th minute and Chelsea never recovered after that. Chelsea did not look comfortable. After all, it has been only a month since Maurizio Sarri took over. But it was too bad that they managed only a solitary shot on target.
Manchester City dominated most of the meeting good physical readiness and better stages of his opponent Chelsea, Riyad Mehre have distinctive performance after the recent injury but he messed few good chances but still better option for me then Strrling.
On the blues side, coach Maurizio Sarri needs to get the least damage possible in the first 10 rounds of Premier League. The players are difficult to adapt to the way they need to play.
Also the defense problem that will confront Chelsea's defense is soft and easy to break, neither Rudiger nor David Luiz La Cahill have a defensive level worthy of Chelsea and their Italian coach.

Manchester United manager Jose Murinjo said on Sunday that the club has to invest more money in transfers in order to be competitive in the Premier League.

He said that this would be hard season for them if they did not bring more players.

If that does not happen, I think we can remove them from favourites for winning title.

Nothing too exciting but good to see real football (club football) back. This should be a good game before the really important stuff starts next weekend.

Enjoy gentlemen.

The community shield game going on now shows once again that the main favourites to win the title will be Manchester City. They are having an easy game against Chelsea and are leading comfortably with 2 goals difference with only few minutes remaining of this game. I wonder if Liverpool can be a real threat with all these transfers that the team did during summer.

FA Community Shield lineups confirmed:

Chelsea: Caballero, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, David Luiz, M.Alonso, Fabregas, Jorginho, Barkley, Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

Man City:  Bravo, Walker, Stones, Aguero, Laporte, Sane, Bernardo, Mendy, Fernandinho, Mahrez, Foden.

Not quite the "first team" we're going to see from both teams during the next season (I think), although both starting XI look strong. Obviously, no Courtois (he's in Madrid with his family), but I'm surprised Hazard wasn't even included as a sub  Shocked

Well it's community shield dude and it's not a top priority for both teams and that explains why they are presenting depleted sides, I think the world cup has also worn out a lot of the top players and so extra rest before the start of the season proper is in order.

So would Chelsea's line up tomorrow be a good indicator if Hazard is staying with them?  If he isn't on, then he's prolly leaving?  What do you guys think?

I just noticed that today's the final in the FA Community Shield between Chelsea and Manchester City. Chelsea are @ 3.70 odds and City are @ 2.05. Have you guys heard any news about possible line-ups? I am completely clueless about this match and am wondering if there will be some first squad players missing today as well. This is the first official match of the season, isn't it? So I guess they should come up with serious teams and not play a friendly-like game, right?  Cheesy I am hovering around both teams to score, but the low odds of 1.55 put me off. What about taking Chelsea +1 AH?

I heard no Hazard, no Willian and no Kante.  And maybe a couple more core players.  But City won't have KDB, Jesus and a few others too.  I think Pep might play some from his B team.

If he doesn't start then maybe, but there's still a while before the transfer windows closes. I think they should close the transfer window the day or maybe even a week before the league starts and not reopen it until the next season. It causes too much disruption allowing it into the start of the league. A lot of tensions in the dressing room as well I imagine, especially if there's speculation that you want to leave or you have even publicly stated as such. I think this is what happened with Mahrez at Leicester last year where he handed in a transfer request, but the deal never got done and it soured things between the team and manager etc. He even missed a few games I believe.

I think he'll be played, whether or not they want to offload him (they'll consider offers but really, Chelsea can't afford to sell without replacing him first). I remember Coutinho being played and made captain shortly before selling him. Same as Emre Can if I recall correctly or am I thinking of the last ICC friendly where Sturridge was Captain. Doesn't mean anything, and probably no harm to parade your horses one last time to fluff their prices up.

Not that it means anything but Spurs got thrashed and Salah and co laid up all the goals yet again. I'm so excited. I know. Expectations.

There is no definite movement to bring in players who can help the team from Chelsea and Manchester United make Premier League competition next season likely to belong to Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool. These three teams continue to move to bring in new players who can help them lose next season. I wonder why the two big clubs in the Premier League have not made any moves in the transfer market this time, have the two clubs run out of money to spend on quality players?

So in your sense, signing more and new player will guarantee higher chance to be the next premier league winner. Sorry boy, it doesnt really work like that. I got to admit that having new player will surely give some time for the opposing team to figure out what the player is capable of but in the end football is a match that is played by 11 players. Teamwork and strategy matters the most

If I had to narrow it down to only top 2 from top 5 I think the teams which will set the tone for the England Premier will be Manchester City and Liverpool. These only two teams have more quality players in them compared to every other team in the league. If I had to narrow it down even more and choose a winner I would choose Manchester City but for the fun of it I would bet on Liverpool to win the league this year.

If I had to pick a top five it would probably be:

Manchester City
Liverpool
Tottenham
Chelsea
Manchester United

Boring if City win it again. Hopefully someone new will win it. Tottenham haven't signed a single player yet and there's talk of a few players leaving. They need to strengthen their team not weaken it. They did well with the same team last year though so I still think they'll give it a good go but probably don't have what it takes to unsurp City or Liverpool.

^  I think that Liverpool line slightly has value considering the new players they acquired in the past three transfer windows.  They're ready to win it imo.

That Chelsea one looks good too, but would wait until the end of the transfer window and see who's in their squad.

Liverpool has the best coach and has strengthened itself selectively. I think they will play for the title this season. But I also think the Arsenal is stronger than supposed by the betting providers. It will certainly be a more exciting season than the last one.

No chance. They've got rid of the long-term manager and signed mostly nobodies. I think they'll at best get into the Europa league but nothing better.

You mean Arsene Wenger, right?  It's actually the best move Arsenal has done in years letting him go.  But around 5 years too late imho.  Arsenal could be in a better spot now if they did it earlier imho.

I still don't think it's worth putting money on. Liverpool have a strong chance, but there's a lot of strong competition from City and don't discount teams like Spurs or maybe even Chelsea. I rarely think there's much value in betting on the outrights unless there's a shocker like Leicester winning it.
