Not your keys, not your coins!

You will be fine if you dont keep your coins and tokens on your computer, its better to invest in hardware wallets or get paper wallet and continue using your computer for daily use without worrying of getting hacked
Storing your coins on computers are not risky, if you don't have bad web surfing habits. Bad habits will lead to bad results.
- Internet security or antivirus softwares
- Good habits
- Strong passwords
- Saving seeds backup offline and safely.
I don't see reasons to own hardware wallets, just to be safe.

Careful with links from emails. Also avoid downloading anything and everything you see online. Most of them have been programmed with keyloggers. Malwares are easy to detect as they tend to take over your browsers.
I think that links from emails are the main source of danger today. Inexperienced users can believe in congratulations about winning money or something like that they get on their e-mail and all they need is to download a small program and register in it ...
It is better not to open any e-mails from people you do not know, it will greatly improve the protection of your computer.
Not only links from emails. Because you can receive dangerous links from other channels, Facebook, Twitter, Discord, Telegram. To protect yourself, the best thing to do is you have to strictly follow your own rules, that never clicking on links from strangers, from strange emails (don't open emails come from strangers), or even with well-known senders, whom you are familiar with, still don't click on strage links that likely dangerous ones.

I personally often use smart phones and rarely use a computer, sometimes using it to open a wallet that only supports Windows, something like that that I'm afraid I only use genuine security from a factory standard computer

The best protection for your computer is the use of a safe operating system that is resistant to viruses and hacker attacks. Such a system is currently Linux Ubuntu. After I started using it, I stopped worrying about viruses and hacking my computer every day.

Can someone tell me what program they use to password protect their laptop?  I do not do this as i heard this process is not that simple.  I heard there is either veracrypt or bitlocker.  Are those the only 2 options or best 2 options?  If so, which do you choose and with it, does that mean a thief with access to your laptop cannot get into your laptop and store anything in it like trojan unless they have the password?  Because say someone installed a trojan in your laptop while you are not there for a bit... let say its just a friend who did it b/c they know you have crypto... that is dangerous.  Any advice here?
I use Kaspersky, it is not only useful as an antivirus but it can also secure networks, passwords, etc.
I think you also need to try it, so far I feel comfortable using it compared to other programs

important and must be, there are many ways to protect our computer, can install a strong antivirus, not carelessly plug in the flashdisk that we do not know how the flashdisk, do not access dangerous sites, the most dangerous is when our computer is attacked by cerber virus , it will be very dangerous because our files will not be opened, because it was encrypted by someone who made the virus.

I often use copyrighted software and install antivirus software.  Most of my storage passwords are encrypted with Kaspersky (my antivirus software).  I feel safer when using them.

I myself only use antivirus avast to protect my computer, there are no other programs, my advice is that we better download programs that are clear and from well-known webs so that we avoid dangerous viruses

My last computer was serious damaged by virus and I lost quite great number of information. The computer I have now hasn't really had issues, but I still want a good anti virus for it. I don't trust the one I use now. How good is the avast you talked about please?

I have never downloaded a special protection program for crypto like that on my computer, because in my opinion the most important thing to protect our own wallet is to keep our private key properly, and don't tell anyone about our private key, and avoid all phishing things site
The more third-party wallets, apps we download and install to use, the more risks we take ourselves. I totally agreed with you that keeping private keys safely is enough to protect our funds. Of course, computers need to have protections from threats and we should spend small funds to buy and install reliable internet security / antivirus softwares. I suppose to install internet security softwares, which gives more advanced protections.

We need double protection , one from viruses and other from hackers. Both are active with internet access. Viruses can be controlled by using antivirus but hacking is more difficult to protect. Formatting the computer and not saving any personal details of bank account and other online wallets can minimize the risk of hacking.

I personally use an antivirus and still do so well, but still think to replace the antivirus with a cooler one to be completely sure of its security, and then heard that sometimes hackers steal the keys.

If we use computers in making transactions, of course security is the main thing. Therefore it is obligatory to protect it. Actually there are many ways to protect it and everyone must have different ways to do it. For me, I only use antivirus, which many people usually use and until now my computer is still safe. And there are still many real ways to protect our computers.

These antivirus programs may not catch the programs that use your computer for hidden mining, which has become one of the biggest problems.

If you see that your laptop has become very slow, but you know that everything is OK with the hardware, probably, the best variant is to make a visit to a specialist. He will find the virus or the infected stuff that can take part in this hidden mining.
