Also, has anyone reached out to cryptsy?

It's probably best that someone other than "Tuck Fheman" contact Cryptsy. If you follow our blog or twitter account you'll know why.  Wink

I noticed that the only address on their website is an P.O. box in Maryland, and the WHOIS info does not reveal much either. I think in this day and age, it's kinda hard to trust a site with little to no track record, don't you think?  Wink

I think the basic rule when it comes to exchanges is probably - the more the merrier.

They've been around for a while, that's all I know and yes, the more the merrier ... just don't leave coins anywhere longer than required ... oh wait, I left coins on BTer for 20 minutes and got screwed.  Undecided

What do you think of Alcurex.org?  Smiley   They're based in Finland and seem legit.  Do you think it's something we should pursue?

Will look into it.

PS: Don't forget we're already on Poloniex and it's only a matter of time before we get back on it (speaking of which, someone should probably get in touch with them if haven't).

I referred them to the post relating to the proposed fix. I was told they had no update on when it would be fixed. Maybe someone else has more info (I hope!).

Re Alcurex.org, when Bter went down, they worked with the Node community to get them listed.  Their volume is low, but it is slowly increasing.  If we help them, they could help us.

Also, has anyone reached out to cryptsy?  All of my funds are tied but if we can get them to commit to adding Qora if a certain amount of BTC is added to their vote address, I'll try to donate at least 1 BTC to that cause.

However, I'm not sending a single satoshi to that blackhole, unless they are willing tp verbally commit to adding the coin if certain goals are met.

I'll try getting Qora on Allcrypt once the new wallet is out.

Their requirements for adding new coins leads me to believe that would be best.

I've used them once before, no issues, but otherwise don't know much about the exchange. They're pretty small it appears, so if anyone knows a reason why (security?) I shouldn't pursue them, please speak now.

FWIW, this blog post of theirs was humorous.

We've just reached 102 votes on HitBTC! Woohoo!  Cheesy  Keep the votes coming, guys.  Wink

Well, I've never used Allcrypt personally, and the info on their website is scant at best..

I noticed that the only address on their website is an P.O. box in Maryland, and the WHOIS info does not reveal much either. I think in this day and age, it's kinda hard to trust a site with little to no track record, don't you think?  Wink

I also found this troubling message from a Hero member here on bitcointalk (I cannot tell how reliable this person or the claim is):

Don't trade on allcrypt.com, this is a scam site. my friend sent PND to me, Mintpal doesn't support internal transaction. So I chose allscrypt online address, finally they deleted my account and I wanna hacked them, my PND is lost, so ridiculous. Angry

Aside from some of the negative comments, the low volume kinda worries me.  Tongue

I think the basic rule when it comes to exchanges is probably - the more the merrier.  So we should not rule out any option. However, to ensure the safety of Qora and our members, I think we should probably pursue sites with more volumes or known developers first (we've already encountered two problematic sites - BTER and ShareX).  After we get on more sites, we can pick at least 2 primary trading sites, and we'll keep the rest as fail-safe.  Smiley

Yeah apparently it was already there if it has that many votes. Cool, then we're way ahead of where I thought we were.

Never even thought to check before I emailed them, I will start doing that first.  Wink

Just saw this ... https://hitbtc.com/mm

Nice! We're already at 92 votes!

BTW, here's something I just noticed on top of voting page  --

If you are signed-in into your HitBTC account, your vote will be multiplied by 10. Also please note you can cast only one vote.
https://hitbtc.com/vote

So please don't forget to sign in to your hitBTC before you cast your vote, guys, it counts 10x  Smiley

BTW, it looks like if we can get two persons to take MM contracts for Qora, then we can get listed on hitBTC instantly. It's probably the easiest way to get listed on hitBTC.

https://hitbtc.com/mm
We add a new coin to the exchange if two persons take MM contracts to support this coin on our exchange. One contract is valid only for one currency pair, and a market maker is eligible to take only one contract of each category.

BTW, they actually added Qora to the voting page -- https://hitbtc.com/vote  And Qora currently has 77 votes...

Does that mean it was already there before you contacted them?  Smiley

Dear members,

You can all hold your QORA tight, or release Qora for bounties, so the project will grow rapidly.
The chance is much bigger when you donate your QORA, that the price will go up, and so your remaining QORA is profitable Wink

In order for QORA to become huge, we have to pay people who are working on this project.

So please people and WHALES

Donate QORA TO: QLmoXVW6GTLcWVpaiDr5brg9CeiFvTCiJo

Thank you kindly!!! Its for your own and community's good!!

I heard from hitBTC today. They are passing my request to add Qora on to their "business development department" and I'm waiting to hear back from them.

So, a pretty useless update on my part ... but, it's better than no update.  Wink

Good news nonetheless!  Grin

In any case, I'm gonna vote for Qora.  And I suggest everyone does the same.

Keep up the good work and a BIG thanks from a qora fan  Grin

Vrontis has a copy of the wallet design Smiley

Totally awesome!  Honestly can't wait to see what you've done with Qora client.  Wink

I, for one, am tired with the old plain wallet design.  Thanks so much for doing this for Qora!  Grin

Thank you all

I have tested the wallet in a low end virtual machine (32 bit Linux),  loaded 100 addresses and the wallet haven't faced any issues except the time that it was needed to load which was around 5 minutes.

Thanks, Vrontis.  Smiley  I just modified my post.  The truth is Qora client has always been very stable for me since beginning, and I've never encountered any problem others mentioned. I don't know if it has to do with the fact that I've only run Qora on 64-bit windows based system or not.

In any case, I realized I wasn't qualified to say anything since I wasn't able to replicate Polo's errors.  Apologize for the confusion and possibly misleading statement.

I think I'll shut up now and leave this matter in your capable hands.  Wink

BTW, in case you haven't been following our conversation -- the V18 Qora Client is totally stable on a 64-bit system (64-bit JVM) but will most likely crash on a 32-bit system due to a database issue.  It's not a bug, it's just that some codes need to be restructured/refactored so the file stream doesn't close unexpectedly while the application is still expected to do additional I/O.

We're waiting for someone to dig into the code and provide a workaround for it, but in the mean time, Qora is 64-bit only.

Yeah, not sure what else I can do.  Maybe the original question needs to be upvoted before they will acknowledge the vote portion(?) ... no clue.

You can vote up the original question here.

I'm hoping ShapeShift comes through, it actually sounds more promising than I was originally led to believe.

Update : I've never used hitBTC, but I contacted them today as well about adding Qora.

Thanks, Tuck.  Smiley  Just registered a new account at ComKort, but for some reason, I didn't get an activation email.  I'll definitely upvote your post when the email comes through, and I'd suggest everyone does the same. Both hitBTC and Comkort look great, and hopefully we can get at least one of them to list Qora.  Just let us know where to go if you need our votes.  Wink

Hi Tuck,

Thanks for creating the Qora poll.  Smiley  Unfortunately, Qora is still not in the voting list after 3 days.   Huh  Is there any news or update? Could you please follow up on that?

It'd be nice for Qora to have two primary trading sites. Comkort seems like a really good choice.

Thanks for doing this!

I'm working on adding Qora to the voting on Comkort but need to know ...

  • Is there a main website any longer?
  • Who should I list as the contact (will need email address)?

I'm going to use the forum thread if there isn't a main website now (the one linked is dead).

Update : I went ahead and listed this thread and used my email address for now.

Vote here (when active) : https://comkort.com/vote#QORA

I have also asked MapDB founder about that and he told me to check MapDB Code for thread interrupts.

Also a new version of MapDB has been released

Nice job! Thanks for doing this!  Grin

Okay, I just wanna quickly summarize and tell you what we need to do here:

1. We need to come up with a new workaround that does NOT involve the use of Memory Mapped Files since Memory Mapped Files only works on 64-bit system.  Using MMF is not an option since we need qora to work on all systems including 32-bit.  We need to find out what's causing the thread to get interrupted before all file I/O operations are completed.

rlh's comment got me thinking, and I think that it's possible the client does not exit cleanly (FC was closed while the changes to database were not fully committed).  Since I've only run Qora on 64-bit machines, it's difficult for me to replicate Poloniex's problems and do a debug.  Someone definitely needs to follow up on this and identify which calls are causing the problems.

2.  I hope we can incorporate the following changes before we roll out the next version of Qora wallet - 1) Skerberus' Installer, 2) MMF workaround (for 32-bit system' sake), 3) the new Wallet design Pondsea was working on, 4) encoding method as suggested by deMap.

Keep up the good work, guys!  Grin
