24 Mh/s on Claymore,not bad

Looks like at stock clock speeds that screen shows 86c.  I didn't see any temps listed at the overclock speeds.

It depends on the power consumption. If that is 24 MH or 90 to 100 W, then it is quite good. If it is 120W, not so.

It seems newegg sold all of their  $199 cards out.

Very disappointing.

I bought 2 x sapphire 480 - 8 gb and 2 x powercolor 480 - 8gb

It appears all of these first GPU's are based on the reference card design with a single blower.  They are notorious for running hotter, louder, and not quite performing up to the same specs as the aftermarket cards with better coolers and fans etc.

We should start to see aftermarket cards appear in the next month, but the wait to get your hands on them could be longer than that based on the demand.  So until we see some actual mining numbers on these cards and how hot they run you may want to hold off.  My experience with reference cards has taught me not to make that mistake again unless I can validate and verify that the card is good.  YMMV

Agreed the reference design sucks big time... Both brands I don't get the blower thing...

Will the 1070 actually do 37 or is that just an estimate?

that''s not the real question, because the answer is yes, it can do 37MH, the real question is, can this reach 37MH on windows too or just 30-32?

for now those 37 can only be reached on ubuntu 14.04 tls not even the desktop version

Win10 will be fine. Win7/8 may need some kernel work. Also thinking of a fix for 1080.

Btw I didn't do any magic. Pascal GP104 is very simar to GM200 so this is with the normal Kepler/Maxwell kernel. It just overclocks pretty good, which was done by a fellow countryman that goes by the name @kruisdraad.

On the ethereum forum someone already has the 480. It hashes at 24MH/s using Claymore and uses 200watts from the wall.

well that is really bad, i don't know what is all the deal with this 480 when a 1070 is vastly better seriously

but it's ok less demand on the 1070 i guess
I didnt measure with power meter but i dont think its 200w - if its total system consumption still should be a bit less but depends on the system and power supply - is it with claymore single eth or with decred?

even at 140w is really bad versus a thing that can do 37MH with the same wattage, and they are not sold at $200 like many believe, they are already at $250 due to demand and probably more

btw did you tried the 1070 with the fix for windows 10?

The 1070 can do 37 MH/s ? Really ? For me the R9 470 is the best plan : ~22 MH/s for 100W. That's perfect.

the 1070 is better if you can put 6 in a system and have more than 200MH. The system overhead per hash is lower.

If she can deliver 37 MH/s I'll rather buy those, with the first in just one week. But what I'm afraid of is that I'll have to use Linux. I can't use my beloved Windows 7 ?

yes you can but we need to wait for genoil to fix it for win 7 for win 10 should be plug and play in 1 week

This magic was done by genoil ? I think I'll start to reconsider buying RX 470 and will maybe start to think about 1070.

For the 7970 reference cards with 200W, the temperature is less than 80C. So for the 480 RX, is should be less than 60C.

Maybe its a driver issue or maybe its only good for games like it was designed for.
