On the ethereum forum someone already has the 480. It hashes at 24MH/s using Claymore and uses 200watts from the wall.

'The right to privacy matters'
It appears all of these first GPU's are based on the reference card design with a single blower.  They are notorious for running hotter, louder, and not quite performing up to the same specs as the aftermarket cards with better coolers and fans etc.

We should start to see aftermarket cards appear in the next month, but the wait to get your hands on them could be longer than that based on the demand.  So until we see some actual mining numbers on these cards and how hot they run you may want to hold off.  My experience with reference cards has taught me not to make that mistake again unless I can validate and verify that the card is good.  YMMV

yeah your are correct but these have 1 pcie jack and are supposed to use under 125 watts  maybe only 90

the photos of the 1 fan blowers look to be the same as before and I saw a heatsink photo  I think it could be okay to run it.

But merely a guess and/or feeling.

Some guy on the ethereum forums claims to be getting 24 MH/s with an 8gb XFX RX 480 on claymore's miner. Temperatures are at 81 C while the system power draw is 217 watts.

I have a cheap and effective solution for cooling. I've seen videos and some people mine with the GPU externally. If that is the case, try mounting a CPU cooler onto a GPU. In the case of this video it fit inside on the case.

I personally want the 480 as a regular card and my wireless adapter would be in the way of this. Wouldn't be able to fit a big cooler anyway. But I could fit a small cooler like a stock intel, so I am thinking here...

If I can profit with over night Ether mining and it is promising enough I may go an get the 470 reference model on launch and personally record the process of putting a CPU cooler onto it and running it outside the case of my old computer that does nothing at the moment.

There is NO Freedom without Privacy
The antminer s9 reports higher temps because the sensor is actually on the chip not the PCB with their new 16nm chips. It's possible these have new temp sensors which report higher temps than older models but are well within safe operating conditions. Just a guess on my part, you can read the reviews on the antminer s9 and the higher temp the chips report running at in the bitcoin hardware forum.

May be a dumb question but isn't Saphire, XFX, PowerColor, and all of that aftermarket?

I never get anything around launch before but all of these brands were listed on Newegg, so we should be able to get improved heatsinks and quieter more efficient fans and better clock and volt control.

They all have the stock appearance, maybe they are all reference or maybe they just never updated the image?

Many did get cards for testing and many places have given a preview of the cards and have indicated they have tested them.  BUT they are under a non-disclosure agreement until the product launch tomorrow.  So you will see a flurry of test info coming out after launch.  They are just waiting... Still no tests?
The release is tomorrow.

Strange normally testers get some cards earlier to have time to write before launch...

in my crappy country rx 480 version with 8GB is 366$, fUc.K you distributors
In my it is about 400$ :s

Here it is $330. I'm finding a website to purchase it from and get it through DHL. I'm pretty sure that I'd get it at a cheaper price this way.

Any suggestions from where I can get this card?

If Amazon is available in your country, that's what I would suggest. That's for me the best. It's available worldwide, so the prices shouldn't be too exagerated.

In my country there is no much difference in price between Amazon and other online retailers. Some times, it is more expensive.

I am afraid 199usd will be retail price only in USA (maybe Canada)

I am afraid so. I wonder at what time it will be available and at which price. I hope that the difference won't be too huge Undecided.
