Speaking for myself (and I'm sure I'm not alone) what attracts me to the project is the fact it isn't some over polished PR stunt with flashy websites and very little substance or hyped utility. I'm way more suspicious of projects that seem more concerned with Managing a big ICO with a load of BS hype than focusing on the actual tech. In fact this is how so many scams have started or coins that then get very little development input once the funds have been gotten. I want to remind people that getgems also was crowdfunded from the very official Koinify that launched Factom, and getgems has been a disaster and I would even go as far to say corrupt, using the law and small print to hide behind while delivering a bullshit clone of Telegram while using ICO money for another project i.e Official doesn't guarantee the integrity or productiveness of developers. Look at the world today, does official mean not corrupt?

First the tech and the PR stuff can always happen later, that's the right way around, crypto has become a perverse money grab. And no making money from your work is not wrong, but if it's the main focus then usually the project is hollow and worthless once the hype dies down. I personally hope the team focuses on that first. Did Bitcoin start as a PR stunt or technological and problem solving curiosity of the developer?

Plus it's worth pointing out that the Factom developer seemed impressed and very positive about Radiums approach.

Giveaway over, congrats to nadana1985 winner of 150 radium and coinictus winner of 25 radium (i wanted to make sure a new joined member would get a little bit too Smiley )
and if nadana1985 does not respond by this time tomorrow I will re-pick another member of slack Cheesy

in terms of PR... as idol mentioned, Rads was a normal launched coin with no IPO and no Premine. the devs have been good about funding some bounties out of their own pockets, and as an early adoptor i have been willing to do some giveaways and part fund the translation bounties of a few weeks ago.

Remember FCT has a team of 46 members http://factom.org/team and raised 1.1 million during their crowdsale. I havent kept up with their milestones but last i knew they had achieved #1 which should have released some funds. ( i forget if it was half at launch, half after milestones or some at launch and some at each milestone from the ico to be paid to the devs)

meanwhile with that large of a team and a big bankroll factom matured quickly to presenting at conferences and doing meet & greets. I know its on Radon dev's minds to get incorporated and start making business contacts as soon as the project radon is beginning to mature. since FCT has a few months since launch ahead of the Rads smartchain's recent launch id say hopefully whenthe same ammt of time has passed RADS will be getting to where FCT is now. though lets not kid ourselves if it takes a bit longer.

notable: theres new bounties posted in slack in the past days for infopacket, useage scenarios, and azure quickstart template. this is a nice way to get the community involved while JJ and TM focus on coding.   I think though the PR could be improved the slack channel having 150 members is pretty large, things are reguarly updated here and via twitter. the website is nice and informative and the wiki is full of content. without going out and getting professional materials done rads has come a long way.

I have a question on RADS: What are your plans on PR? What I really liked about FCT for example, was that they were (and are!) very transparent presenting their team to the outside world. Photos, holding speaches, articles etc. This made them more trustworthy imo.
Will you go a similar way or stay more anomynous?

However - RADS is a great project.

We do have plans to undertake those forms of PR. First things first though, we would like to develop the software to a point at which we are confident in presenting it to the larger corporate and academic community. We are nearly at that point, but not quite yet.

Today i saw someone on the polo troll box saying " rads not have nice PR package so he dose not like rads"

PR package and all the nice looking video...etc cost money to make

don't  forget RADS did not have IPO/ICO or Premine

im sure as things develop dev's will make a nice video and a PR package , every one would love to have a nice PR package Smiley

perhaps community  can do small fundraiser to pay for a nice video

as for dev's being anon.. they are not anon at all..i know they did a id verification to list on bittrex..i don't see why they would have to be doxed on BCT (other coin did that to sell IPO IMO)

How long it will need until it start to stake?
people have been quoting an average of 1000 radium gets about 1 block per day (1radium coin + fees)
it wil take 6 hours from when the coins hit your wallet or after they perform a stake to mature.
rewards estimates are... estimates, it could take a week to get 1 reward or 10 seconds after they mature.

seriously its like any other POS coin. interest this year is 20%, so if you have 1000 coins expect to run your client 24 hours a day 7 days a week for 265 days and on March 6th 2017 you would expect to have 1200 radium. at that rate 1000 coins is more like 1 radium every day and a half.

Blockexplorer Hosting contract expired (chain.blockpioneers.info/radium)

Since TM was one of the first to order my services back in august/september 2015, I'm happy to renew the contract for a 3-6 month period, free of charge! Also added Poloniex to the markets page.

Keep up the good work team!  Smiley

Most likely in this order:
SmartChain Phase 2.4
Azure
Ion Cloud

  • v2.4 update is the long awaited refresh for the smartchain with better user experience features for ease of use.
  • ****Azure is something we all want but is not up to Project Radon to implement its up to Microsoft. please DO NOT count on this as a sure thing.
  • Ion cloud seems to be in development and there was discussion in slack last night about best ways to reward the users offering storage. I personally assume this could take another month or two.

No timelines have been mentioned anywhere. not on Slack, not on the OP posts by the dev's TM or JJ.

No problem, glad to answer any questions! We can't give a hard set date, but each are coming along steadily every day

Lastly, spin off development is happening at an alarming rate. One click verify is a super useful tool of which community memebers on slack are writing up "use cases" and examples for. one click verify wasnt on the original roadmap but im glad to see it Smiley

**edit to add, slack acknowledges MAID took years to dev, and Rads is shooting for a decentralized storage solution too. similarities could be drawn Sia, maid, storjx etc. anyways Slack says summer of fall time possible for ioncloud (stated by the python dev helping JJ with ioncloud) as usual there is NO SET DATE!  anyways there will be a lot of time between now and any Ion related releases. but im confident that there will be continued development as we have seen. and more value added projects like the 1click verify to keep the bulls excited

Hello everyone, here is the package for One Click verify on any Linux system that runs Nautilus 3.6 or higher.

To install, simply run SmartChain_Verify_Installer.sh
To use the tool, right click any file, hover over "Scripts", and select SmartChain Verify.sh

If you do not have Nautilus on your Linux system, you may use oneclick.py on its own. The only dependencies are requests and Tkinter, but most systems should have Tkinter installed.
Code:
python oneclick.py <-c>
Filename is the path to the file which you wish to verify, and -c is an optional flag to produce output purely in the command line, rather than displaying a GUI. Running the -c flag will also return the JSON verification data associated with verifying a file, for use in other applications which require verification.

oneclick.py may be imported in the following manner in order to be used in other Python applications:
Code:
from oneclick import OCV
OCV().getDataFromFile('filepath')
That code will return False if the file is not verified, and the JSON data associated with the file if it is verified.

I do plan on submitting oneclick to PyPI once I have the time to do so. Once it has been submitted to PyPI, that implies SmartChain file verification will be available to anyone running a Linux server.

Feedback and improvement suggestions are welcome.

Best regards,
-Tim M.
