Radium Update #41 — Radium Core v1.4.7 Upgrade

As promised in our most recent post, our developers have been working to
improve the Radium Core wallet and are pleased to announce that
Radium Core v1.4.7 is here! This is phase 0.5 of the previously mentioned
updates, and focuses on improving the efficiency and ease of use of the wallet.
This is intended to make the upgrade to v1.5.0, at the end of phase 1,
as smooth as possible.

Radium Core v1.4.7

Click here to download the latest Radium Core v1.4.7 release
(Mac releases will coming out over the next few days).

Below you can find a list of the main changes in Radium Core v1.4.7:

  • Peer Discovery: Updated wallet code so wallets now connect to set peer
seeds, obtain a list of new peers, and disconnect from the seed automatically.
This process offloads the work of syncing new clients, so the peer seeds can
do their job without bogging down.

What this means: Wallets will now find peers much faster than before.
Updating the config file with a list of peers will no longer be necessary.
Users with low connection counts should gain connections faster.

  • Code Upgrade: Partially upgraded the wallet base code from blackcoin
    POSv3 to bitcoin 0.11

What this means: Many code improvements, bug fixes, and generally faster
and cleaner running code.

  • Increase op_return: Increased the op_return maximum limit to 480 bytes.

What this means: Entire Smart-Transactions can now be encoded as a single prunable
null-data output, reducing blockchain bloat, decreasing SmartChain fees, and lowering
RAM requirements for the wallet. We can also write more complex Smart-Transactions
with expanded functionality. The improved null-data encoding will be activated in
the future SmartChain 3.3 release.

  • Supply hard Cap: Set the total supply cap at 9,000,000, per the original project
specifications. What this means: No user impact for approximately 40 years.
Block rewards will cease once max supply reaches 9M, around year 2059.

Hardfork-level changes will be implemented early next year, so stay tuned for more
improvements and developments coming soon!

Interesting news for RADS came from the Waves project.

Oceanlab, the 1st European technical incubator for the blockchain. We're utterly passionate by the real-world possibilities blockchains have to offer and we want to create the first research and development lab for the blockchain in Europe.
The Waves platform is at the center of our work but we're already planning several technical gateways to be able to use storage, data processing and interact with other blockchain. We're currently looking into Xel for processing, Storj for storage and Radium for its security related features.

Their founder forecast 10-30x in RADS during 2018

+40% atm. but it still on the historical bottom. You can buy it, transfer into your local wallet and staking using PoS.
Current RADS staking reward is ~20% annually. Start earning more today!

this is exactly what this coin needs - adoption! Hope the results will be good, then people will realize the great potential of Radium!

RADS has a nice cup and handle formation on USD chart, within next few weeks I expect it to retest those ATH areas with a little more sustainability than last week's P&D. From there either a little pullback for handle or straight through to the new ATH 20-30 USD.

RADS now dropped more than 50 % after starting this topic.
Interestingly, no one really noticed the huge volume spike up yesterday, why?

The weekly uptrend is about to get tested, I think RADS could really bottomed out now. Risk/Reward Ratio on this level is promsing.

Support tested again and the uptrend may continue. We could see $7.2 per RADS in late December or early January depending on the intensity of Christmas effect. RADS is fundamentally very healthy and price action seems to be finally positive as well.

Radium Update #39 — Core Protocol
Upgrade SmartChain Vote Proposal

In this update, we would like to lay out the first SmartChain vote which will
decide the future of the Radium blockchain. The vote on the proposals
discussed below will be conducted between Monday 13th of November and
Monday 27th of November. We will be posting a how-to for people that are
unfamiliar with the SmartChain software.

Proposal #1: A New Codebase

Our first suggestion is to fork the Radium blockchain away from a Bitcoin-based codebase,
and towards a more ideal codebase: Stratis.
We feel that rebasing Radium to the Stratis protocol will transform development from supporting
an old Bitcoin codebase, to supporting and flourishing under a new paradigm of smart contracts
and an easily maintainable C# core protocol. Once a fork to the Stratis protocol is complete,
development will move at a much more rapid pace. The core Radium protocol will be easily
maintainable at parity with Stratis/Breeze, as well as easily extensible and auditable by the
expanding community of C# .NET developers. New features which do not require integration
into the core network can be developed using smart contracts.
The fork would take place in three stages: testnet, parity, and replacement.
During the testnet phase, we will work to fork the Stratis protocol to the point of functioning
and actively participating on the Radium testnet.
During the parity phase, we will work to further modify the new Stratis-based Radium client
to being capable of functioning and actively participating on the Radium main network.
Additionally, we will work to strengthen the stability and user interfaces within the new client
to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible.
During the replacement phase, usage of the new Radium client should overtake that of the
old Radium client. From that point, we will seek to implement features such as the SmartChain
and other passed SmartChain proposals directly into the new Radium client as either hard forks
(where needed) or smart contracts. At the conclusion of this stage, rapid core and community
development can begin.

What does proposal #1 mean for you?

As a business: Hard forks implementing new features and solidifying the dominance of the new
Radium core client will not take place until we are 100% confident in the stability and performance
of the new client. It would be recommended to continue using the existing Radium client until
the conclusion of the replacement phase.
As a standard user: It would be recommended to continue using the existing Radium client until
the conclusion of the replacement phase. When the replacement phase does conclude, upgrading
should be a simple process that will be outlined at that time.
As a power user/developer: We would love for you to contribute to the testing and development of
the new Radium client! We welcome developers of all walks of life and all blockchain loyalties to contribute.

Proposal #2: A Funding Method

From the beginning of the project, we have not explored meaningful methods to fund the unorganized
entity that is Radium Core. Funding has been, until now, restricted to personal contributions from the
developers and the community.
We would like to continue to go down a path that does not involve an ICO. For that reason, we would
like to propose a block reward subsidy to fund an official Radium Core non-profit foundation. This subsidy
would be implemented as a hard fork at the conclusion of the replacement phase, in which the community
could elect what size of a block reward subsidy goes towards the foundation. At that time, we will lay out
transparent management and bylaws of the foundation to ensure actions are taken in the best interest of
the community. Major proposals requiring funding will require the active participation of the Radium
community through a SmartChain vote.

What does proposal #2 mean for you?

For all users: If this hard fork progresses at the conclusion of the replacement phase, it will be your
responsibility to voice your participation status. You will be responsible for updating accordingly, as well as
voting on topics such as management, bylaws, and block reward subsidies.

Proposal #3: Increasing Stake Maturity Requirements

Since the beginning of the Radium blockchain, the requirements for a transaction to be mature for staking
have been 6 hours. Having such a low maturity requirement has resulted in an unintended consequence: users
trading Radium tokens on third party exchanges are able to transfer staking holdings into and out of exchanges
quickly with minimal impact on staking downtime. By increasing the maturity requirement to something such as
24 hours or 36 hours, market fluctuations will need to be much more extreme for staking users to forfeit staking
rewards to participate in the market. This decreases downside pressure, resulting in a more stable exchange rate.
Demonstration of these dynamics are visible in the markets of coins with masternodes, such as Dash and PIVX.
Market volatility is greatly reduced due to the high maturity requirements of operating a masternode, incentivising
users to keep their coins staking for longer.

All we need is for bitcoin and BCC to stay steady for awhile instead of imitating pump and pump coins and devs should start looking at releasing updates, however if most traders are just looking for anything that didn't go down to sell so they can buy into a pump and dump scenario I wouldn't release anything.  I'm buying and have been buying, I love free coins. POS is good, as long as everyone doesn't just buy and hold,   no volume means price goes lower, and price fluctuation creates volume.  so buy low, sell high   now is a good buying opp.  Once an update is released  well, you will have missed the boat again. just my best guess.

Rads is a great investment especially when you bought the bottom in last weeks but not only. It is for sure a long term investment but the fundamentals are really great. So I dont worry about it, my trading skills are not good enough so I am buying coins with good fundamentals and am holding them long
Agree, 50k sat is a great buying zone for RADS

If his Twitter isn't wrong he left that bag quite some time ago already Wink

Does not mean its bad....just that its time has not come yet. As you can see...its not really moving since months. And might not move for a few more months.

Maybe still too small to get any attention.

From technical analysis point of view, it declined to quite strong support level. A bounce back may be expected. Unfortunately, if Bitcoin continues to rise that rapidly, there are no stronger fundaments that could drive RADS price higher.

That being sad, I HODL.  Grin
