Most rigs use Intel CPUs, there won't be 11 KH/s per rig. Even if they all were AMD AM4 boards, have you tried to buy 3900X recently? Mission impossible. But I do think hashrate will go up to 1 GH/s after the fork.

There are many more CPUs running at a current moment rather than GPUs. So if they are all turned on at the same time and pointed towards Monero, the hash will be at a crazy number.
It will also be easier to create a miner for it to run in FPGA because of the compatibility with CPU mining. So, that's that.
Still, I hope early adopters can crunch some hashes and earn a good number of coins before it hits the fan.

$600 usd cpu to give $1 per day still better than anything a gpu can offer at moment but is not only the $600, you need motherboard $100, memory $40 and ssd $30, $770 just to start it off. ROI 770 days, 2 years, hehehehehehehe if is $1 per day net, i mean without electricity or any other cost. Investing in mining has been the worse investment for the past 2 years and will continue till coin prices multiply in 2020 or 2021 but even though, it might still be, best thing is to protect yourself from stupid decisions and that includes, invest any money in mining whatsoever.

From what I've seen so far on loki/wownero/arqma, there's 100 MH/s ready to mine Monero from day 1. How much more is ready? No one knows.

Sorry for a bit off topic.  For the same price would it be better to buy (2x Ryzen 5 3600) or a single Ryzen 9 3900x?

well 2 R5 3600 should be around 200 euro less, then ofc mobo ram etc...

also you will need a good motherboard for 3900x, decent cpu cooler etc.... from my point of view the 3600 is the winner.

At this time I would agree because AMD now owns the 8+ core consumer market with no price pressure
from Intel........yet.

When Intel launches a price war with Cascade Lake X AMD may respond by lowering the price of the bigger R7s
to keep their price advantage.

Then there's the upcoming TR3000 which could also be disruptive.

In other news, Tom has a story about the new Intel Ponte Vecchio GPUs to be released in 2020 possibly
creating more competition in the GPU market.

With all these exciting developments it's too bad mining is in the dumps generally.

- They released it as a separate binary, not regular xmr-stak.
- Source code they attached is straight copy from XMRig in RandomX part.
- No fee means they don't plan to support it, it's a throwaway release.
- Some long and obscure instructions on how to prepare for the fork.

Given the history of Fireice's and Monero "relationship", I wouldn't trust this release. It can be anything inside.

'The right to privacy matters'
Right now my i7 3930k making 300h/s on cryptonightR and it values as 0.10$ for a day consuming 130w .
if im not wrong it will pay me about 0.25$ with randomx.im sure it will pay this for 2-3 days then after it will be again like 0.10$.All people waiting something huge but results becomes same at the end of the road.cryptonight always paid for cpu very little.so dont be sooo exited.

It's not that cryptonight paid so little for CPU.
It's a fact that there are many more CPUs active at the moment rather than GPUs.
So, there will be a lot more CPUs mining RandomX algorithm for Monero thus reducing profits drastically.
If it's profitable for people, they are going to mine and they will activate each and every bit of CPU power they have which is really good for decentralization but not for incentives.

This is what I have been saying all along. If you think you will profit from investing in 4-5 or even 10 Ryzen 3900x systems in preparation for the XMR RandomX fork, you will be sorely disappointed. Please learn from both the Loki and ArQMA networks....there are a lot of CPU hashpower out there. Your multiple 3900X systems isn't going to make you any profit worth investing on. You have been warned..
yes long term maybe you are right but its all about efficiency, a 3900x will do 12k or more of randomx for 130 watt

those older cpus will do 3k for 70 to 100 watt so you are talking 4x maybe power use, the 3900x will make momey for at least six months and probably pay for themselves, beyond that who knows but either way its a new cpu so you can probably sell it in a year and be green greeN

Everyone talking about hashrate why no one saying about payment for these hashrate? waaaaww 12000H/s.they think it will pay like CN4?
I dont care  what hashrate they are promising,i do care is what do they pay for. What a meaning of 12k hashrate if it pays for that 1.5$. 3900 costs 700-900$.only cpu ROI 500 days.
my 3930k makes 0.25$ it is old cpu and what did you say about 3900 more 4 times efficiency right? ok 0.25x4=1$ for a day. What a joke.

I am buying ryzen 9 3900x for 500 + 33 = 533  and I get 50 + 30 = 80 in rebates so they cost me 453
I did bios upgrade on my asrock x370 board cost = zero
I sold the ryzen 7 1800x for 106

453 - 106 = 347 for upgrade  from 1800x to 3900x   The pc unit uses 110 watts  to mine.  that is 2.64 kwatts a day or say 3 kwatts.

at 15 cent power I pay 45 cents to run it.    so 100 cents - 45 cents = 55 cents a day pure profit.  Oh for the next 4-5 months  I will save 10 a month  so 50 bucks off my heating bill.
It is quiet and can mine for years with no issues.

PLUS IT IS  a solid pc.  I have 3 at the moment.  I may do 3 more.

my 3900x have been making between 1.50 (loki) and $3 a day

i expect $3 a day to be the min when randomx starts on xmr that’s pretty good to me

i paid $499 for all my 4 3900x cards in october  and currently one is alreddy paid off lol , no i won’t tell you what i am mining
the cpu is so powerful i get 3x to 4x hash rate of older cpus on other cpu algos, even if xmr is not profitabilty on randomx that just means ill continue to make nice profits on the. other cpu only coins im mining now.

i cant see that happening though, i expect to pay off all 4 boxes in six months max which is 3x better than buying asics or gpus atm.  Of course i also have gpu rigs , all im doing is upgrading my existing gpu rigs to 3900x rigs

It's time to turn on some servers, is HiveOS a good option to boot these servers and mining RandomX? or does anyone have any better suggestions?

nicehash OS could be a free alternative for you.

I'm testing nhos but after loading the OS nothing happens ... do you know if it is currently supporting mining via CPU?

Tomorrow I will test hiveOS.

Im not using nhOS myself , but im sure they support cpu mining, xmrig 3.1.1 installed so. probably some settings you have to figure out.

Take a look and see if you have missed anything: https://www.googleapis.com/download/storage/v1/b/public-prod-data/o/marketing%2Fnhos-guide-en.pdf?generation=1563192105178740&alt=media

I haven't found a xmrig discussion thread so I'll post here.

Has anyone gotten cuda-plugin to compile on Ubuntu 18.04?
It compiles on 19.04 but 18.04 fails:

I just asked them about this on reddit, this is their response:

CUDA has very strict compiler requirements, so you have 2 options:

1. Update CUDA to recent version.

2. Install older compiler like
sudo apt install gcc-6 g++-6
and specify compiler on cmake phase
cmake .. -DCMAKE_C_COMPILER=gcc-6 -DCMAKE_CXX_COMPILER=g++-6

Link to answer: https://www.reddit.com/r/MoneroMining/comments/dvv637/xmrig_500_stable_release_unified_3_in_1_miner/f7iota4?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x
install latest cuda: it should use gcc 7

gcc 6 did the trick. It's the simpler choice as the package is available in the repo, cuda 10 is not.

Thanks.
