The difficulty of finding such an address makes it rare though and I'm still working on
Finding 1234xxxxxxxxx4321 can't be that hard, right? I'll let it run for the night, see if I get it. Using vanitygen, it's faster than oclvanitygen for addresses this short.
I found 1234imbqWvqq1nNUgDxQ2wrg1R7GBZF321 in minutes.

but I don't expect to be done any time this century unless I buy another Nvidia 970 or 2... X1012
If you could find this, you could just as well find an addy with 50 million dollar balance in it. It won't happen.

In order to better the first one, you would need the format ABCDE*EDCBA as the one I bested was 123*321 so you might tie mine but I believe you have to beat it to get it listed.

The second item was kind of an inside joke between Awesome31312 and myself... I'm not working on 12345amanapLanacanaLpanama54321 Wink

The most remarkable addresses (*) found in the blockchain will be listed below.
1234mNnAPb8YnCsbacaNhB4BqwxB4U4321      (2016-04-27: 8-character palindrome address - owner: xhomerx10)
1ANoNYMURccWEEGMoMTozTtjBj7CmtRZdb
(2014-01-24: longest pronounceable prefix - owner: Nikinger)

Top one is not a palindrome, bottom one lacks enough vowels after "ANONYMUR"

Not precisely a palindrome but palindromic in nature if you take some liberties and consider the central text as a word divider Wink

I read a while ago someone has a 20,000 word list of search items they are searching for
That may have been me Cheesy 38000 entries now. Some are duplicate, as vanitygen always tells me. For example: abandon/abandoned overlap. End result is it searches 25000 prefixes. I just composed it from a few "long word lists" I downloaded.
I have 7000 addresses saved now, with lots of duplicate prefixes. I only keep the special ones, the rest is just stored in a long list. I haven't been searching in a while.

I just saw I have Address: 1fairsex6JFJNnPRwjCXaXmkBLDpKFFQ8 in there Cheesy

Let me sort the results on length, see if I missed anything special:

The rest of this list is partially case insensitive. I have 1Lingerie and 1Leftover though Cheesy
Starting with L is easier to find than anything else.

My list has one shortcoming, the words don't start with a capital, while that is easier to find. I only want the first character to be case insensitive, so I should add them all twice.

I'm a little stumped what else to search for that is random?  I could say things like 1Xena 1House 1StarWars 1StarTrek or did you have something else in mind?
I made this puzzle 2 weeks ago. It doesn't require a search for vanity addresses, but it did include them.

Why would you want something random? To make sure nobody has it already? You could just pick a Bitcoin-related word. But even then, it's nothing more than a combination of computing power and luck to see who wins.
1bitcointaLk is too much BTW.

If they are random, then no one could be searching for them already.  If participants came up with search items, they could already be searching for them ie 1GhennomhhcG813vjQkCrDJ67LFMrQwcCW or 1MjoLLnirmoZtc3fD7WfCMGswvHV7AWUmr from NetHack.

I read a while ago someone has a 20,000 word list of search items they are searching for, so the only thing I could think of was to make it totally random - it's more to see who has better "luck" than the others for a given phrase.

Unless you make it a more fun thing to do than searching for some random strings that will never look more impressive than any random addy.

I typed a 1 in front of the copy-pasted prefix, that lead to the very high difficulty.

I've been thinking of doing a challenge for anyone who wants to participate, I use PWGen to generate random things, and thought if I roll up some six, seven and eight number/letter combos people can search for them and compare their speeds.

No prizes or anything, just fame and glory.

eg.

Code:
1DWutrU
1eMHMBn
1zBlvyQY
11GSOq7b
1T8AJtk2z
1oGoMo16h

If anyone wants to do it, I'll start a new thread and port it over there.  (they're not as easy as they look)

666666666 has 9 decimals now, as it's the only number prefix that I have with 8 decimal already.
I search case-sensitive, that's why they're all in the list with both cases.

I think there's a bug in the difficulty from oclvanitygen: if I search just the above list case-sensitive it gives the exact same difficulty as case insensitive. If I just search 1AAAAAAAA case insensitive, it expects to be faster than the full list.

For its not a great matter to have a bitcoin address with real words or string because i use bitcoin only for holding purpose and very rarely i send bitcoin or receive. But it sounds good to have rare address. Can i generate my own rare address in some wallet.

This thread of rare addresses is rare itself. Nice one!
But please let me ask, how do you make custom addresses? I wanna try to join the fun too. Thanks.

I'm using custom software to generate mine, but in general, check out vanitygen. Depending on what you want, it may take a long time.
