Of course, at first it would be difficult to examine that far, in certain circumstances they will realize that they will not return to that winning position, but on the other hand, they believe more firmly in the possibility "maybe making another deposit will get a win, at least what was previously lost can come back again." " it must be there, both of them are more confident in luck and really believe in it like "maybe this time you will be luckier and can get another win" and every day carry out that thought continuously and make them lulled by the frustration of defeat and want back the money they have was eliminated in previous gambling, this position makes someone careless and becomes irregular in gambling.

Greed and wanting the money back, keeps them doing it.
They need to change their mindset that by making another deposit, they will get a win because that doesn't guarantee they can get it. What is there is that they can experience more losses and even the money they deposited can run out too. That is why when they have lost in a row, they should immediately stop and leave gambling so they do not want to deposit money again. Or if they get a win, they also have to stop immediately so they don't get greedy because they want another win.

After it's all over, they also have to be able to deal with their increased emotions and maybe they can do some relaxation to reduce the emotional tension. Greed won't give them anything so we have to try to prevent it from getting bigger and we can't control it.

in this condition it is caused by greed which results in losses and regrets and after that does the same thing until it becomes addicted because of chasing and continues to chase losses because of losing big wins. this is a normal condition and almost old gamblers have experienced problems like this, even I myself have experienced when I got a win but kept betting in the hope of winning even more without realizing that I lost all my winnings.
and in this case having the mindset to know when to start to stop betting will be very important when you get a loss or win in the specified amount, you must quit immediately, avoid emotions that are getting higher and lose control to continue betting without thinking about the long term.
So almost all gamblers who have been gambling for a long time have almost the same experience and keep trying to chase their losses. But when they want to chase wins or try to recover their losses, they are not successful and even if someone manages to get their money back, there will still be losses from previous gambling. But some gamblers can realize their mistake and try to stop it as soon as possible before they get another loss. And that's where they come from, the gamblers try to practice self-control so they don't interfere with their gambling and can still enjoy gambling. And since then, their gambling goal has changed, not chasing wins or recovering from losses.

Being greedy can really ruin us and make us bankrupt with nothing left because we will become reckless and decisive and we will lost even more so I think we need to be disciplined enough and also we need to make our minds powerful than our emotions so we will not go wrong in our decision, if we might be wrong still we will have the plan B that can be very helpful to us.
That's very true because greed makes us forget ourselves and won't realize that what we are doing is a mistake so it can make us lose all the money we have prepared as our budget for a week or a month. To overcome this, we clearly need to learn about discipline so that we can stay on track and we can really have good self-control in gambling. In addition, we must also have a plan for gambling so that we will not sink into gambling. And with all that we learn, we can make gambling entertainment.

You may argue that gambling is only for enjoyment, but let's be honest about this. Most gamblers lose money, and many of them have substantial addiction issues. Its more than just a game; its a seductively perilous world where losses may swiftly get out of hand. You're headed down a steep slope the instant you begin using the phrase "its all for fun" to excuse your losses. And the idea that one may choose to be happy? Although it has advantages in other situations, in the gaming industry its only a front for harm that cant be undone. You should take a step back and reassess if your emotional health is being negatively impacted by gaming.

If we say otherwise, we do gambling to earn extra money, or make it a living. isn't that also not better. so it would be very natural for someone to say that gambling is fun entertainment, or we can say for fun. after all, now this type of gambling is included in the category of modern entertainment. well, let's be honest. Don't we really realize that gambling has risks in it. if, someone does not want to lose his money at the gambling table. ideally, never even to do gambling. because gambling has a risk in it, if we don't win it means we lose.

It cannot be denied, there are many gamblers who become addicts to it. but not all, gamblers are addicts. interestingly, the point you made was overly dramatic. I thought, it's simple. if you do not want to go down a steep slope, you should not climb the mountain. the phrase "have fun" is a notion so that gamblers don't get stuck in the powerlessness of addiction. With this idea, someone who does gambling does not have to target winning every gambling session. someone who has such an idea, can control the gambling he does. provided that, has limits in each gambling session. or, just spend a few dollars in each session. thus, someone will avoid big losses and even lead to addiction. after all, every gambler, has his own way of how they get around gambling.

Different from compulsive gamblers, usually they will find ways to fulfill their gambling desires even though they don't have money.  the point is, how do you define gambling for yourself. you are free to express it, be it for fun, or according to your understanding and desire. Most importantly, we are fully aware that gambling always involves risks.

Definitely! Developing a gambling addiction is entirely possible, regardless of whether you've scored any winnings or not. Various factors, such as psychological or social aspects, can contribute to gambling addiction. Winning can undeniably play a role in fostering addiction, as the thrill of winning and the allure of more wins can drive a compulsive urge to keep gambling. But, losing money can also be a trigger for addiction, as individuals might chase their losses in a hope to recoup what they've lost.

Yes, the adrenaline rush or that surge of excitement you experience while gambling can frequently contribute to the addictive nature of the activity, but it's only one piece of the puzzle.

Do you think its possible to become addicted to gambling when you haven't win a dime or after you win?

I think addiction starts after you win, even if it's just once, that's when you start gambling recklessly and you also start betting higher.

I think it can work both ways, you can become an addict with or without winning. When you're winning many people don't think someone can get addicted but it can happened because you get used to gambling that you play always and become very addicted then can't stop.

When you don't win you can get obsessed with winning that you keep gambling and sometimes you gamble just to revenge your previous losses and that's how most gambling addicted starts. You might borrow money to gamble because you don't want to lose but keep losing.

For different gamblers there are different reasons why they get addicted but all starts because of lack of discipline. As a gambler you have to discipline yourself so you don't over gamble or chase after losses because if you don't do this, a time will come that you'll get tempted.

Typically, gambler only think and come to realization after or before they gamble and not during gambling. Only few players can think straight withoiut being affected by risk pressure during gambling.  Cheesy

You are right, mate. It's even kind of a waste of time to advise a gambler  Grin, because while they will still end up doing whatever they please, perhaps they would say, "It's not your money they are spending," and it's not your business to tell them what they will do. I have talked to a friend before about his gambling habits, and those kinds of responses were what I got. You feel you are doing some good thing by asking them to control their reckless gambling, and they ask you, "If really the money they are gambling off is yours." So sometimes the advice is not even necessary. I would just say, Let the gambler test the game and let themselves decide if they are really gambling with self-control or not.
Most of the time these gamblers understand on their experience. Just on sharing our experience they never care about the gambling activity. Once after huge loss they used to remember what we had said earlier. When they realise it is far away and the loss could've been very big. With gambling we shouldn't have the never giveup mentality. Gambling should be considered fun and advice received should be considered and whether we follow or not is secondary.

Well, the thing is, gambling does have its up and downs for everyone, there is always the negative side of gambling for every gambler, but like you have said, first, the outcome of a gamble or bet is not in the hands of the gambler to decide, this is absolutely certain and i believe all can agree with me, but then, how we allow the outcome of the game affect us or our emotions, very much depends on the gambler, it is like the common saying that "happiness is a choice", which means that, in every circumstances of life, be it a good or bad result, being happy regardless is our personal decision.

One way to overcome the aftermath effect of losing in gambling is to always remember, even before we start gambling, that gambling is nothing but for fun, if you win some money in the process, that is entirely your luck, if possible, never expect to win anything from gambling, so that if in the process you dont win, you wont feel too bad about it, but if you win in the process, it can make you more happier, as that could feel like money picked on the way side.

If you are onto gambling for the first time it's not possible to get addicted to gambling because you haven't tasted what winning feels like, you will be consumed by doubts and uncertainty.

But wait till you have a taste, win some money, that's where you start feeling like there is more if you keep digging, is this not where gambling addiction starts?

We have had a lot of conversations about gambling addiction, but I had the same conversation with someone close yesterday and this was my answer to him.

Do you think its possible to become addicted to gambling when you haven't win a dime or after you win?

I think addiction starts after you win, even if it's just once, that's when you start gambling recklessly and you also start betting higher.

I do think that addiction manifests to people differently due to the reason on why they are getting addicted in the first place.

Some people may feel addicted due to the adrenaline of betting huge amounts of money per round; while others get addicted due to the fact that they are clinging to that hope of winning a jackpot whenever they gamble. At the end of the day, they gamble because they truly want to experience something that is otherworldly- something that can only be found while gambling.

Personally, I find the adrenaline to be the main reason on why most get addicted. That surge of emotions that you feel whenever you are holding on to that hope of winning, only to discover that you won/loss. I guess that feeling of slight ecstasy is what makes gambling addictive.

If we gamble and have the luck to make a win, we should count it a privilege and also a challenge to work more harder the next time, that might be the last opportunity of it's kind we may have then, we don't need to be reckless in gambling, we have to create a modest pattern to how we gamble to position us to the best way we can appear being a gambler, what works for others may not really work for us the same way.

@Aanuoluwatofunmi, you gave a perfect advice, but the truth is that people read or hear advice but easily forget what they have read because they get either greedy, carried away by the fun, chase losses, or just lack proper financial management. Every gambler knows that it's luck they are gambling with because there is no certainty in gambling; it's either win or loss. So, whether a gambler wins or not, he or she must just let go of their losses and accept their results instead of becoming compulsive gamblers. Just as you noted, gamblers must know that if another person is lucky, it doesn't guarantee them luck either.

The truth is, Remembering an advice or something especially if this coming from a person that doesn’t gamble at all and just using a logical advice without considering how the mind of person works during the influence of gambling is really useless. Even a financial advice is bery hard to follow due to its risk and greediness on profit involved so what's more for gambling that is full of risk and just based on luck.

Based on my experience, gambling addiction may develop and grow in anticipation of future profits. It does not matter whether you have tasted some wins or not, but the fact that beginner gamblers are hunger with money and profits, then addiction will easily come to develop. However, in some gamblers, they only develop gambling addiction once they have experienced potential profits. Because they feel that if they continue gambling, there will be more profits waiting for them. That’s when reality sucks when all they gained are losses.
big wins are a trigger for those who are addicted to gambling to always play by continuing to imagine the big wins they got before.

I always talk to my friends when you want to play gambling, if you don't have enough skills, at least you are rich. Because if you don't have enough money to play gambling and you are addicted, then there will be something worse than gambling addiction, namely using all means to get money so you can play gambling.
Have you never thought that those who have enough money and are rich can become poor because of gambling, while your personal needs are not fully met and you choose to play gambling, do you want your life to be even more miserable?

Gambling addiction doesn't know whether you have won big or not, whether you have risked large or small amounts of money, but gambling addiction starts when someone enters the casino and starts playing and betting.
Right from the start this will generate more curiosity and can be really addicting in every game even if it results in defeat.

You are right. exactly the same thing I thought. Some people think addiction starts after a gambler has won big; although that's how it works with some people, it's not the same for everyone.

Human beings don't all operate the same way; just like they say, "One man's desire is like poison to another man," every gambler has their own way of being influenced before they can start gambling compulsively. Some people, when they hit the casino on the first day, after they see that their friends have won and they realise that they never win any, they will begin to gamble with all their agility just to make sure they win like their friends. In the process of gambling over and over again, they develop a bad habit that makes it very difficult for them to stop.

We can have the desire to win at gambling but we have to realize that it won't always happen. Maybe the few times we play gambling, we often experience defeat so we have to think that we should stop first to let go of the emotions resulting from that defeat. The comments point to one thing gambling just like every other activity should be done in moderation. Recklessness is a result of overdoing it. And to avoid this, make only small bets. That adrenaline rush comes from huge bets that is above $100. If you have noticed that you lose tract of time when gambling, you are already being reckless and overdoing it. Look for substitute fun activities that do not require money or any other thing to be wagered.
It's not easy to avoid being careless and what do you suggest to make small bets so you don't spend too much money and it's also not an effective way because someone gambles with the goal of winning whereas the more we use the money at stake, the greater the profit can be obtained when you win and it's easy if you just talk but it's hard to implement it.
As long as you know that every gambler has their own abilities and each gambler's abilities cannot be equalized so that they understand and do what you suggest.

I agree with the sentence in bold, the fact is that I personally often experience this because I have a lot of free time and I can't control the risks. That's why I'm looking for alternatives so I don't have to spend more time gambling. For example, looking for a game on Playstore that really keeps me busy and most importantly avoids gambling. So far it can be said to be effective but only temporarily, because the games being played are getting boring so you have to find new games to keep playing. Gamblers who have no other activities are always prone to continue to focus on gambling, many of the same stories are obtained from closest friends and they also have the same free time always pushing them into the casino.

You can't get addicted to something you haven't tried yet. When playing for the first time, you can't know what awaits you ahead: that same feeling of euphoria and delight from the winnings, which intensifies more, the more difficult it is for you. Once having tasted it, you will want to get again and again, and each time, an increasing portion (winning amount). This is where the endless addiction to gambling begins, like a thirst that can't be quenched, no matter how much you drink (won). The higher the initial reward, the faster it progresses.

Most of the time, I'd see gamblers that once they win their first bet, they'll double their bet the next round as they are thinking that they could still win.
If you are in this situation and if you are new to gambling even if your plan is to just bet a small amount but seeing you had won straight, definitely will encourage you to bet more and spend more. At this point, it is just like we fall into the trap of gambling not knowing that the next round will be our losses.

yes, I have had this kind of experience before, I put everything I won and lost in a single bet.
