Kerry: Global Warming Goes Against “The Creator’s Original Plan”

Also Kerry the other day: "Propaganda works" complaining about how people believe the Russians over him and other habitual serial liars.

First, there's never been any secrecy over Soon's having some funding by fossil fuel interests.  This was paraded around six or eight years ago - at that time the major "evil meme" of the nutcase warmers was "Evil Exxon."

Notice it was NEVER "Evil Saudi Arabia Oil" - always "Evil Exxon."

Second, Soon has never been a top tier skeptic, if there is such a thing.  Seems like his research specialty is something pretty obscure, like analysis of really old sediment (mud).  Granted, it does tell a tale....

How about we get out in the open all the people that got bought off by the ethanol scam?

The university people that are taking money from environmental "causes"?  But wait, that's "good" and taking money from fossil fuel interests is "bad."

No, ethanol production was as "bad" as equal amounts of gasoline produced.

Oh ya.  Two can play at this game.  Let's get it ALL out there, and let's not limit things to higher education.  The propagandization of school-age kids is a very key element to this story and will have probably the biggest long-term impact on our world.  I'm not the only analyst to recognize this.  Hank Paulson sees things similarly.  The main difference is that he's almost certainly playing the thing for money (the eco-scam angle, and probably big money) while I am not.

Dem Rep. Raul Grijalva Tries To Intimidate Universities Into Handing Over Records To See If Global Warming Skeptics Are Funding Them…





A key Democratic lawmaker is seeking an expanded inquiry into whether fossil-fuel companies have been secretly underwriting the research of some of the country’s most prominent scientific skeptics of climate change.

Rep. Raul Grijalva (D- Ariz.), the ranking member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, sent requests to seven universities asking for detailed records on the funding sources for affiliated researchers who have opposed the scientific consensus on man-made global warming. Grijalva cited concerns over possible conflicts of interest involving scientists who have sought to influence the public debate on climate.

“Companies with a direct financial interest in climate and air-quality standards are funding environmental research that influences state and federal regulation and shapes public understanding of climate scientists,” Grijalva wrote in letters addressed to the presidents of the seven universities. He asked for copies of the scientists’ financial disclosure forms as well as information about the sources of research grants.

The move follows the release of documents that shed new light on extensive financial links between fossil-fuel interests and prominent skeptic Wei-Hock “Willie” Soon, a Cambridge, Mass., aerospace engineer. Soon’s loud dissents on mainstream climate science have made him the champion of global-warming skeptics in Congress and around the country.

Sure. We all support reddit's right to do what they did. And even if the AGW true believer position is unsound and unfounded, it makes sense for them to want to have a place to discuss the details of their beliefs without constant interruption. However they should probably want to have other places which are open to dissenting positions, i wonder if they simultaneously opened a different reddit where skepticism is welcome. If not than this would offer some support for the idea that they are dogmatic in their beliefs.

If Al Gore can run, that's a true miracle.

Dems Launch Campaign To Out “Climate Denier” Politicians And Academics…



Democratic activists and lawmakers have launched a massive campaign to discredit academics and politicians who are skeptical of man-made global warming.

On the heels of a New York Times report critical of Harvard-Smithsonian climate scientist Wei-Hock Soon for getting funding from utilities and energy companies, Democratic lawmakers were quick to launch a campaign to uncover which fossil fuel companies were funding climate science. […]

Democratic lawmakers’ efforts are being bolstered by the former Obama campaign group, Organizing for Action, which is now on the offensive against lawmakers skeptical of global warming.

“It’s tough out there for climate change deniers,” reads an OFA email sent out on Friday encouraging followers to join in on “calling out climate change deniers.”

“One by one, literally every argument and excuse they’ve been using for years is being proven false. They’re still grasping at myths and conspiracy theories, but deniers are on the run,” the OFA email adds.

So Kerry shouldn't be allowed to talk about climate?

Some people should be banned.  I mean, you wouldn't want to invite a bunch of religious zealots to a discussion of evolution and astrophysics---they just don't have the same shared assumptions to get the conversation going.

When the Swift boat veterans who oppose Kerry presented statements from his commanders and members of his unit denying that his boat entered Cambodia, none of Kerry's shipmates came forward, as they had on other issues, to corroborate his account. Two weeks ago Kerry's spokesmen began to backtrack. First, one campaign aide explained that Kerry had patrolled the Mekong Delta somewhere "between" Cambodia and Vietnam. But there is no between; there is a border. Then another spokesman told reporters that Kerry had been "near Cambodia." But the point of Kerry's 1986 speech was that he personally had taken part in a secret and illegal war in a neutral country. That was only true if he was "in Cambodia," as he had often said he was. If he was merely "near," then his deliberate misstatement falsified the entire speech.

Secretary of State John Kerry continued to beat the drum on the dangers of climate change Friday, noting that “there is no Planet B.” The secretary made the remarks at the swearing-in ceremony for Ambassador-at-Large for Religious Freedom David Saperstein. He drew a religious connection to the issue of climate change, saying that “when it comes to the fundamental health of Earth, folks, we’d better stick to the Creator’s original plan.”

Kerry said he and Saperstein had worked together on a number of issues in the past thirty years, including climate change:

“Together we got behind the CHIPS legislation for children’s health care. We pushed for the proposed Workplace Religious Freedom Act, which unfortunately never passed. We were partners in the struggle to help veterans who had been affected by Agent Orange. And we have been allies in trying to awaken the world to the dangers of climate change – and let me just say that when it comes to the fundamental health of Earth, folks, we’d better stick to the Creator’s original plan, because there is no Planet B. (Applause.)”

Republicans To Investigate Climate Data Tampering By NASA






Are government climate agencies tampering with climate data to show warming? Some Republicans think so. California Republican Rep. Dana Rohrabacher says to expect congressional hearings on climate data tampering.

Rohrabacher serves as the vice chairman of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, which has jurisdiction over NASA and other agencies that monitor the Earth’s climate.

Rohrabacher has long been critical of the theory of man-made global warming. Lately, the California Republican has criticizing NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration for allegedly tampering with temperature data to create an artificial warming trend. Such data is then used to justify regulations aimed at curbing fossil fuel use and other industrial activities.

Rohrabacher isn’t the only one to call for hearings on the science behind global warming. Oklahoma Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe has also promised to hold hearings on global warming data.

“We’re going to have a committee hearing on the science,” said Inhofe, who chairs the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. “People are going to hear the other side of the story.”

For years, those skeptical of man-made global warming have argued that government agencies are altering raw temperature data to create a warming trend. Allegations of tampering have increased as satellite temperature readings show much less warming than land and ocean-based weather stations show.

Science blogger Steven Goddard (a pseudonym) has been a major critic of NASA’s and NOAA’s temperature measurements. Goddard points out that NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center makes the present look warmer by artificially cooling past temperatures to show a warming trend.

“NCDC pulls every trick in the book to turn the US cooling trend into warming. The raw data shows cooling since the 1920s,” Goddard told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an interview last month.

“NCDC does a hockey stick of adjustments to reverse the trend,” Goddard said. “This includes cooling the past for ‘time of observation bias’ infilling missing rural data with urban temperatures, and doing almost nothing to compensate for urban heat island effects.”

NOAA does make temperature adjustments, but it argues such adjustments are necessary to remove “artificial biases” in surface temperature data. The biggest adjustment made by NCDC scientists is cooling past data to take into account the fact that there was a big shift from taking temperature readings in the afternoon to the morning.

“We get a lot of people questioning our data adjustments,” Thomas Peterson, NCDC’s principal scientist, told TheDCNF. There was an “artificial cool bias in the data,” Peterson said.

Switching the time of the day temperatures were taken from the afternoon, when temperatures are warmer, to the morning, when temperatures are cooler, caused a cooling bias in the data. Temperature data from nearby weather stations was used to help create a baseline temperature for different regions.

But there are some drawbacks in surface temperature readings from a few thousand weather stations, boats and buoys spread out across the world. Peterson said the weather station system is “only really good for the U.S.”

“The main problem is where there are a few stations in the middle of nowhere.” Peterson said, specifically referring to weather station data problems on St. Helena Island.

UK Telegraph writer Christopher Booker joined the fray recently, using work by Goddard and other bloggers to criticize climate agencies for data tampering.

“Of much more serious significance, however, is the way this wholesale manipulation of the official temperature record… has become the real elephant in the room of the greatest and most costly scare the world has known,” Booker wrote. “This really does begin to look like one of the greatest scientific scandals of all time.”
