Is there any religion that has no brainwashing?
Ego and testosterone and religious dogma are a dangerous mix.
What's the word for a libertarian spirituality?

Too bad so many people need external structures to define themselves by.

Completely agree with the OP. Nowaday.s, there is a lot of religious fanaticism around the world. Brainwashing is everywhere and the two major religions (Christianity and Islam) are fighting among themselves to convert the maximum number of people. There is religious intolerance everywhere.
yes, I agreed with you mate, and to some other religions it is insulting for them if they read this title Grin
There are lots of religion beliefs brainwashing the mind of  individuals just for the sake to convince them to be part of their church. Which is very deceiving actually.

At first the media was covering the incident. But then Muslim groups threatened them that every Muslim would boycott the media, unless they withdraw the story from their dailies and tv channels. The Muslim lobby is quite powerful around here, and so the media apologized to them and withdraw the news.

Ah, the Muslim lobby. This reminded me of a soap here in the Philippines. They've already released teasers of it, supposedly the title would be "Haram". Seems the story would revolve around the religious tensions in some parts of the country. The male lead is supposedly going to a Christian soldier while the woman is a Muslim. Not much details though about her background though but the actress playing the part is a Muslim herself.

The show never aired. No media releases, no explanation why it got dumped, nothing. Just hushed whispers that there where some who lobbied against it.

Religion is like a penis: hard, scary, mushroom-like and fantastical, soft, weird, always coming for people, and in some cases long.
I think it's not good to compare. Religion in a particular category, what you are trying to compare is another. If you compare yourself, I find it really vulgar when you identify them together.

For once i agree with you, No one should go around enforcing their beliefs on another person. Everyone's religious choice must be respected including those who have no religion whatsoever, we are all human beings.

Stupid ideas should be ridiculed and DISCARDED.

If people feel personally offended when their imaginary friend is ridiculed they need to grow up.  Grow some thick skin.

Religions are businesses selling imaginary products.  They are institutionalized scams.

That's sad... and recent

The Judeo-Christian religions are the worst when it comes to attacking other people... it happens hundreds of times in the bible

Jews, Christians, Muslims (the Judeo-Christian / Abrahamic religions) are very barbaric and warlike...

Here is the similarity between Islam and Christianity. What the ISIS is doing in Syria and Iraq, the same thing the Christians are doing in Northeast India. Both these religions are more like organized cartels, doing any sort of things to gain the maximum number of followers.

Women are wonderful. Many of them have way better personal and public religion than the OP. If I were a woman, I would totally boycott this thread.

Cool

Being a religious Hindu, who had to flee his hometown to defend his religious views, I have to disagree with you. We take out religious processions in the public, as a message to the Christians that despite committing genocide against us, they can't force us to abandon our religion.

I honestly didn't realize groups of Christians are still committing genocide (other than USA bombing/invading countries)... I thought that ended with the dark ages, crusades, inquisition, witch hunts and slavery

How long ago did they attack your village?

Happened almost two decades back. My people are still living in refugee camps in inhumane conditions. They can go back to their villages only if they are ready to convert to Christianity. The biggest joke is that all this happening in a country which is having a Hindu majority. Check this:

Jews, Christians, Muslims (the Judeo-Christian / Abrahamic religions) are very barbaric and warlike...

It started in the bible with the Jews leaving Egypt and finding the "promised land" aka "the land of milk and honey" (because there were cow and bee farmers there)

Well, the Israelites killed the people and took the land of milk and honey for themselves... then did the same to hundreds of more villages in the bible... and then the crusades, and dark ages, and inquisition, and witch hunts, and slavery, etc, etc, etc... and they never really stopped it seems

I wouldn't be surprised if India was "the land of milk and honey" from the bible... there have been cows in India for 3000+ years, right?

this type of comment is really destructive, everybody should respect every religion and belief, maybe someone cannot put faith on any religion or principle but they should not put any destructive comment or insult to any religion. I personally believe that every religion has some basement so we must respect religion...

What are you talking about?

It's a simple analogy about not preaching in public, or sexually molesting children

It's not insulting to any specific religion, unless you take offense to it

It really isn't insulting at all (except to catholic pedophile priests, butt fuck them)... it's not calling your religion a penis... it's simply saying don't wave it around in public like a dick

I assume you didn't even bother to read the OP?

I suppose if someone would be able to find the number of abuses committed by imams, it might equal those by priests. Or even exceed them.

The crimes committed by the Muslim clerics are seldom reported, because of their powerful position in the society. A few years back, there was an incident in my hometown, when a madrassa (Muslim religious school) teacher sexually abused 40 or 50 of his students (both male and female, most of them below 10 years of age). The incident was quickly hushed up, and the teacher was transferred to another madrassa.

Sigh. This is why we really need massive secularization of the state. If the religious elite can still keep on abusing their power in secular countries, just imagine if the religious establishment actually have a larger control the government, like how things have been in the past.

That madrassa incident reminds me of erring parish priests. How where they able to completely hush it? Did they manage to bribe media as well? I just hope enough people managed to hear of it through social media, at least they'd be able to protect their kids by moving them to a different madrassa or cautioning them of possible abuses.

At first the media was covering the incident. But then Muslim groups threatened them that every Muslim would boycott the media, unless they withdraw the story from their dailies and tv channels. The Muslim lobby is quite powerful around here, and so the media apologized to them and withdraw the news.

It completely pisses me off every time a few friends from a certain religion try to give me reasons why I should convert to their super 'holy' religion. The world will be so much better to live in once people from different religions learn to tolerate each other.

I can't imagine religions ever tolerating each other

Most religions have texts with words like:
Quote from: The "holy" bible
Deuteronomy 17:12 - Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death.  Such evil must be purged from Israel

Exodus 22:19 - Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed

Zechariah 13:3 - If a man still prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall say to him, “You shall not live, because you have spoken a lie in the name of the Lord.”  When he prophesies, his parents, father and mother, shall thrust him through

Deuteronomy 13:7-12 - If your own full brother, or your son or daughter, or your beloved wife, or you intimate friend, entices you secretly to serve other gods, whom you and your fathers have not known, gods of any other nations, near at hand or far away, from one end of the earth to the other: do not yield to him or listen to him, nor look with pity upon him, to spare or shield him, but kill him.  Your hand shall be the first raised to slay him; the rest of the people shall join in with you.  You shall stone him to death, because he sought to lead you astray from the Lord, your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.  And all Israel, hearing of this, shall fear and never do such evil as this in your midst.

Deuteronomy 17:2-5 - Suppose a man or woman among you, in one of your towns that the LORD your God is giving you, has done evil in the sight of the LORD your God and has violated the covenant by serving other gods or by worshiping the sun, the moon, or any of the forces of heaven, which I have strictly forbidden.  When you hear about it, investigate the matter thoroughly. If it is true that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, then that man or woman must be taken to the gates of the town and stoned to death.

The bible is pretty straight-forward... god commands his followers to murder non-believers in at least 100 different places in the bible

With words like this in their "holy book", it is difficult for religions to "tolerate each other"

LMAO I agree with this though.
This is hilarious.

Im not religious myself but I believe in divinity..

True, it's annoying how religion is sometimes use to brainwash people.
Religion as the cause of something huge has always been history.
Wars and etc even marriage can be triggered because of religion.

It's a belief and people certainly do everything for what they believe.

I know it's not bad.
But it's annoying when forced
 hence the saying

"Dont wave it on public or shove it in my children's throat"

Religion is a penis that Fucks everyone who approaches him. This is of course not literally but metaphorically. Religion uses all believers for their own selfish purposes. I'm sorry that religious people do not understand.

Religions are nothing but a way to control humans and makes us human beings self righteous they say that they want but ask money in church but watch the poor starve to death. I hate how the vatican preach about how to give the poor and the helpless support but doesn't do anything to save this people, this hypocrites teach righteousness while they sit in their golden thrones and piles of cash while the people in poor countries like africa are dying from starvation and poverty. Why are there countless wars that has been declared all for the sake of religions, why are random meaningless murder all for the name of religion.
