It's greed and the perception that the negative outcomes of gambling won't occur to them, along with overconfidence; it's the recipe for disaster. I also don't think it's that difficult to contain yourself and be careful; you don't even need a strict budget. At least that's my personal experience, but that also depends on your financial situation. Generally, it's easy to get carried away, we've all been through that phase, and I also believe we've all let our greed cloud our judgement, but that's not an excuse if it's a reoccurring phenomenon
One thing have know About gambling is that one of the reason why most endup being irresponsible when comes to gambling, is due to their mindset, most gamblers came into gambling with the wrong Mindset, and also with the wrong emotions (greed).
But one beauty about it is that as time goes on some gambler may endup making some adjustments from being irresponsible to responsible gambler, while some may endup being worst , what most folks need is a changed of mentality of taken gambling as a source of income.
I think that's right, or what I mean is that irresponsible gambling starts because of a wrong perspective on gambling, such as misunderstanding what and how gambling actually is, most likely they don't understand the concept of winning and losing in gambling so that misunderstanding always leads them to fatal carelessness, such as gambling aggressively in a win or lose situation which is simply when they win they are greedy and when they lose they can't accept the situation which ultimately makes them make crazier decisions until all their money is gone.
On the other hand, experiencing a change for the better is indeed possible, and usually this awareness will arise when they have experienced a lot of setbacks and pressures that continue to slap themselves, but for the matter of time it is always unknown, because everyone is different in achieving their awareness.
