Addiction is always difficult to control - even if you know exactly what scenarios to avoid. In theory you are right - but the fact is that many gamblers fail to practice it well and get out of addiction problems. Today you can say that you are responsible for the gambling you start - of course because you are not yet addicted, but if you gamble too often and lose a lot, then you will get into trouble.

Another fact - many gamblers lie to themselves posting publicly that they are not addicted. I don't know what makes them hesitate to reveal their addiction - it's still hard to believe. Something that is done repeatedly is called an addiction in the sense - but it is very wise if they are still able to be responsible and avoid problems.

Finally you need to ask yourself some questions frequently:
A. Is gambling affecting my relationships, work, or finances?
B. I'm I spending more money or time than I planned?
C. I'm I gambling to escape problems or stress?
D. I'm I enjoying gambling.
This question should run through our minds frequently because it will help us know what we are really doing and keep us in check.

The issue with addiction and responsible gambling practice is so common, there’s an extend people direct their focus only on gambling and it seems irresponsible though. All what’s listed is correct besides spending more time when it comes to gambling practice is a problem rather gamble the least amount available before thinking of strategy or games. Definitely everyone loves to gamble either for fun or money as usual but, gambling responsible is not just a choice rather a must else for example there’s a difference between addiction and ignorance, some might spend every time gambling yet they’re not addicted meanwhile addicted gamblers spend everything and fail to realize their lose.

4. Avoid alcohol, drugs and emotion.

Avoid life?

Some people have the desire to get into adventure and try to make a career out of sports betting...but very few succeed. Just a dumb guess maybe 1 in a million. When someone decides to go that way, it would be wise to turn off emotions and follow all these rules, without all of these there is no long-term success, but it is not for everyone. You have to dedicate yourself to it, and take time for it, not everyone has patience and perseverance... I know I don't.

So we can just have fun with some money we can afford to lose... not everyone wishes to be a pro.

The intense gamblers need countless reminders for them to still get away with addiction. That's where everyone is heading when they don't know what to do anymore trying to chase their losses but seems a failure. It's nothing new to be said of but there's a need for them to calm down for them to be able to reflect on themselves and understand if they're doing the right thing or not. Being responsible is hard but being addicted is harder so, every gambler needs to choose what they want to deal with any kind of hardship.
Being responsible in gambling is just being determined to keep your own rules, which is much easier to say than to be done. What I see as very easy is getting addicted when the gambler doesn't have control over what's happening anymore; then they can't control their limit again. It will be like a poison eating them up from the inside. If they don't gamble for a time being, it will be as if some part of them is not complete.

Some addicted gamblers don't even admit that they are addicted, which makes it even harder for someone to render help to them. Even when you notice their gambling behaviour to be outrageous, they will still claim to know what they are doing even when they don't until it has gotten to a stage where they can't hold it anymore; that's when they might eventually speak up.

We would make money from gambling even though it's not going to consistent but it's wouldn't be bad staying safe while gambling.

I’d be thrilled to make money from gambling, but if it’s not consistent, I know I’ll eventually lose in the long run. For regular gamblers, consistency is what we aim for. However, addiction is a completely different matter. We’re all at risk of it if we don’t approach gambling with a mature mindset.

A mature gambler loses money too, but they do so responsibly. They enjoy the process because they incorporate proper risk management, which is a key factor in keeping gambling fun and under control.

Though there are limited numbers of people who can do that but yeah it's possible as long as they are aware with the risk that it takes when they participating inside gambling, like what you have said, mature gamblers or experienced gamblers are basing their actions with how they anticipate the possible outcome, though there's no consistency or any accurate analysis in terms of predicting the possible results though by experienced, experienced gamblers understand the risk if they will not follow certain limitation that they plan to implement.

Having that set limit on both possible profits and acceptable loses, it will allow you to reassess your position and strategy, if it's needed to adjust you have that time execute new one and try if luck will permits you along the way.
I see that some of you guys mentioned in your comments about (consistency)in gambling winning, which is something that is not possible, so taking our minds off making money from gambling is very important and a set mindset before we venture into gambling because being aware of the risks involved and how gambling and how hard it is to win against the house you will know that gambling shouldn't be taken as a way to make money.

The impossibility and inconsistency in repeating gambling winnings is the reason why gamblers make a set limit for their spending both in time and money because whatever you risk in gambling may never come back as returns in profits like it is in other businesses.

These questions make sense, but folks wrestling with a gambling compulsion likely wont give straight answers.  Addiction kind of warps your sense of reality.  Denial can be a powerful force.  Addicts tend to downplay or outright reject how their behavior hurts themselves and others.  Its like asking a smoker if they like the smell of their own smoky breath first thing in the morning.  They will probably say it doesnt bother them because they dont want to admit they have a problem.

Im not saying its impossible to get truthful insights from interviews with gambling addicts.  But their disease could seriously impact their perceptions.  So take any self-assessments with a grain of salt.  The addiction itself makes it tough to even see the harm youre doing sometimes.

Point number one and two cannot be overemphasized, setting a limit for yourself is important so you would stay disciplined and also not ending up with a lot of losses. Have a limit that you don't exceed no matter what , whether you win or lose. This brings me to the second point, chasing your losses is the fastest way to exhaust your bankroll easily. You must learn to control the urge of trying to recover what you have lost by gambling more . This is a sign of indiscipline and it can make you lose a lot of money in gambling. Accept your losses and just move on.

A. Is gambling affecting my relationships, work, or finances?

C. I'm I gambling to escape problems or stress?
D. I'm I enjoying gambling.
This question should run through our minds frequently because it will help us know what we are really doing and keep us in check.
A. No, as long as I am still responsible for any risks, then I don't have any problems. Too much of anything is difficult to control, so so far I'm still within safe limits.

B. No, still within reasonable limits.

C. No, this is done out of full awareness out of a desire to have fun, especially on sports betting.

D. Yeps, I enjoy playing some games like slots, but focus on sports betting.

At least that's the answer I could answer if someone asked me, but fortunately it's a question to ask myself.  Cheesy

Just as a user had to say in one of the preceding page's which I very much agree with about discipline which is the core path to being a responsible gambler, because if you are not self discipline there's no way you can keep to the practices of maintaining a healthy gambling culture. I trust that if a gambler could be well discipline with himself on how he gambles then every other thing is just secondary and there's no doubt about that.

Topics like this has been raised so many times, reoccurrence like this are still appreciated just to refresh the mind and keep awareness. Not for any reason should our gambling activities have any complication to our lives either mentally, emotionally or being recked financially. The common effect that can happen to any gambler is first motioned by addiction, bigger issue in the sense that many gamblers refuses to accept their unconscious/conscious state of addiction and still call it a fun play.

The easiest way to keep responsible gambling is admitting when it has taken too much of what should be given, either time or finance and by all means try to detach from such before it keeps getting worst.

We have discussed almost all these tips in a single thread, and some together, and they can't be overemphasised. The only thing there is are those who are aware of these rules following it up as it should be. People set gambling limits on both the time they are to spend and the amount and still end up breaking those rules. One thing I say is most important and can help keep every other rule is self-control. If anyone can control themselves and their actions, then everything else is easy.

Moreso you have to ask yourself these questions too
  • Is gambling affecting my relationship with myself, consider personal hygiene and self-care?
  • Am I gambling of my own volition or because my pressure from my peers?
  • If I were offered a million dollars to quit gambling, would I do it. This question will check if the individual gambles for fun or as a side hustle.People who gamble for fun will accept it and look for another activity the they get entertained by just s gambling does.

1. Set your Limits

It is very important for you as a gambler to set a limited time for yourself, you need to know when to stop and when to start, some set of people gamble from morning till evening which is very bad, one needs to set his limited time.
One also needs to set a budget and stick to it, for example one can say for today I'm only using $50 or $100 to gamble as soon as that your budget is exhausted you stop for the day it prevents you from spending too much

2. Avoid Chasing your Losses

This one is very important, avoid trying to win back the money you have lost, if you want to recover all the money you have lost you will keep losing and that will lead you to depression, so forget about your lose and move forward it will help you to relax with an open mind.

3. Gamble for Entertainment, Not Income.

I know everyone that is into gambling has one reason for joining gambling and that is to make money however do it as a form of entertaining your self, just like people that dance, musicians and footballers they do it to entertain there self and others and still make money out of it so use that Same ideology don't rely on gambling to solve your financial issues.

4. Avoid alcohol, drugs and emotion.

In other to succeed when it comes to gambling you need to avoid alcohol, drugs and emotions when trying to predict a game because these things can impair judgement.

I think your number 1 and number 2 points are taken but the rest are actually not correct or right per say because there are people who don't gamble for entertainment but yet they still gamble responsibly and just like you said it, everyone has their reasons why they gamble and I want to be believe the percentage of people that gamble for the money is more compare to the ones that gamble for entertainment and I want you to know that the people that actually gamble for fun are the people that has the money enough because you don't expect someone that is struggling to survive in life to be gambling for fun when they have needs or problem to solve.

Lastly, avoiding alcohol, drugs and emotion is not actually correct rather you should have said excess or too much taking of alcohol and drugs because saying avoiding alcohol and drugs means one shouldn't even take it at all. I want to also remind you that there are people who predict game well when they take alcohol or drugs than when they didn't take it and there are also people who win more when they take alcohol or drugs than when didn't perhaps that your point is not valid.

Honestly, all of these things exist, but the most important thing is to limit finances, whatever the intention is, it is subjective and dynamic or changes depending on the situation because someone gambles must have the right reason, pursuing money is also actually not wrong as long as you limit yourself and finances properly, with the intention that you gamble within the limits imposed and by using the money that you are ready to lose in gambling, if it runs out today then don't make another deposit, use the session next time when you have money back as a fund for the gambling activity that you will do.

For me I think chasing money via gambling is not good because at first you’ll be able to manage yourself and set limit but with time you’ll start to think otherwise like “if I just increase my stakes a bit I’ll be able to win more”, “If I used a larger amount for cuz game I won in the past I would have won an even greater amount of money than I did” these kind of thoughts usually come to those that have take gambling as a means of earning.

Even if you want to earn via gambling don’t make it the primary reason you’re gambling - it should be a secondary reason that way you’ll be able to convince yourself not to increase your stakes each time that thought comes to your mind.

This point is the most important, no matter what your intentions are in gambling as long as you stick to the limits you set to stay within the scope of gambling responsibly then you will be on the right path, because of all the reasons mentioned, when we have limits, then that is the most correct answer in gambling responsibly.

The third point is actually very important... Gambling for the sole purpose of trying to make Profit is the reason why a lot of gamblers have lost a lot of money in gambling,..you can't turn this into a business or try to make it a source of income because this would only make you addicted to the game..a lot of gamblers come up with strategies to just make profit from gambling forgetting that the system is rigged and a losing game..when gambling isn't done for the purpose of entertainment it becomes an obsession... Gambling can't be a business or source of income to you

Of all been mentioned on the conciousness of responsible gambling, I am more interested to discuss about that of Alcohol and Drugs.
Taking any of this toxic substances can actually instigate the gambler to wager highily amount of money that he never budgeted for and the bookmaker definitely has no ideal of what is going through the bettor.

At such moment, the gambler not being in control of his conscienceness may as well lost the aid of analytical mindsets of the games he picks, all best known to him is just to pick any number or team and stake whatever amount that is not his concious mind.
Infact, he can even stake with the whole sum of money with him for just a game that could serve him for over 10 round games.

I don’t face any of the problems that you mentioned above because I am a responsible gambler. Gambling doesn’t affect my relationship because my partner knows that I am just gambling for fun, and mostly I don't gamble when I'm close to her, I always give her the attention that she deserves. Also, I don’t gamble whenever I'm at work, and whenever I decide to gamble at work, then it’s going to be during the break, so gambling doesn’t affect my activities at work.

I don’t spend more just because of gambling because I always have a specific amount that I do allocate for gambling, and immediately I use up the money, no matter the condition I am in, I won’t even go close to gambling for that moment.

Good topic, setting limits, avoiding chasing losses, gambling only for entertainment and avoiding foods or drinks that can potentially take away that awareness is indeed the best responsible approach to gambling, that's how gambling should be done, but the problem here in my opinion is that not all gamblers are truly able to gamble with good awareness in themselves.

This means that it is quite difficult for them to evaluate and ask themselves what their purpose is in gambling or whether gambling is disrupting their lives in some aspect, if from the beginning they come because they are attracted by winning in gambling then it will definitely be very difficult for them to achieve such awareness, and that's the problem.
