"A bizarre incident on Sunday night onboard an Aer Lingus flight headed from Lisbon to Dublin has left one passenger dead. According to the Irish Mirror, a 24-year-old man “ran amok” and had to be restrained after he became violent and started “biting another passenger.”
The crew reported that the man — who is reportedly from Brazil and studying in Ireland — fell unconscious after he was restrained. The Irish police said in a statement that “the flight was diverted to Cork airport when the man on board became agitated. He was attended to by a doctor and nurse who were on the flight but was pronounced dead at the airport at 6:40 p.m.”
Police also arrested a 44-year-old Portuguese woman who allegedly had four pounds amphetamine on the flight. It is believed that she was traveling with the Brazilian passenger.
“The noise he was making was like something that I’d never heard before and wouldn’t like to hear again,” another male passenger told the Cork radio station 96FM, noting that the Brazilian passenger seemed to be having seizures. “It was like a deep anguish, that is the best way I can describe it. It was very, very troubled.”
The captain declared a medical emergency, diverting the flight to Cork. There were approximately 168 passengers and six crew members on the plane. "

It's a Facebook notification you never want to see.
The social network is to start warning people when it has a "strong suspicion" that an account has been compromised by a nation-state.
Instead of simply resetting a password, Facebook warns that those affected should either "rebuild or replace" their mobile phone or computer system.
A user with a suspected compromised account will be presented with a message with the headline: "Please Secure Your Accounts Now".
The message reads: "We believe your Facebook account and your other online accounts may be the target of attacks from state-sponsored actors."
The user will then be urged to secure their account by turning on a feature called Login Approvals, which sends a one-time confirmation text to the account's registered mobile phone whenever a login is made from a new device or browser.
Facebook said the message is not an indication that Facebook itself has been hacked in any way. Instead it alerts users that their own system has been compromised.

Illinois Lottery spokesman Steve Rossi blamed the hold-up on "the ongoing budget stalemate in Springfield," the state capital. "Once a budget is passed, all outstanding claims will be paid."
The administration of Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner has been tussling over the state's finances with the Democratic-controlled legislature for months.
Things have been going downhill for Illinois lottery winners for a while. Back in July the state capped its payouts at $25,000.
Up until Oct. 15, winnings between $600 and $25,000 could only be cashed in at the state's lottery claims centers. But now Illinois' ability to make payments over $600 has been "exhausted," said Rossi.
Winners can still cash in up to $600 at any store selling lottery tickets.
The state is still advertising a big fat jackpot, regardless of its ability to pay it. Illinois Mega Millions jackpot is currently $84 million and Powerball is $80 million. "

IS leaders are demanding that their field commanders employ more car bombs and other home-made explosives against advancing Syrian forces, the report says."

EU Committee Wants to Demolish Existing Law Allowing Member States to Ban GMOs
"Stating a concern that the proposed law would lead to the reintroduction of border controls between GM and non-GMO-growing countries, the European Parliament news service reported that Members of the Environment Committee shot down a draft EU law that would allow member states to restrict or prohibit sales of genetically modified crops.
This vote goes against numerous EU states that have made it clear in recent months that they plan to instate total bans on GM crops. A total of 19 EU countries have sent letters to the EP saying that they plan GM bans, citing concern over spoiling agricultural markets, and also the desire to provide their citizens with organic food.
Environment Committee chair Giovanni La Via (EPP, IT) said:
'A clear majority in the committee does not want to jeopardize the internal market. For us, the existing legislation should remain in place, and member states should shoulder their responsibilities and take a decision together at EU level, instead of introducing national bans. This proposal conflicts with the principles of “better regulation” and transparency which the new European Commission has taken on board. After we spent so many years getting rid of internal barriers, this proposal could fragment the internal market and lead to a return to border inspections, which we all worked hard to get rid of at the time.'
The recommendation was approved by 47 votes to 3, with 5 abstentions. It should be noted that this is an amendment to existing legislation that allows member EU states to ban at will.
In its proposal, the Commission suggests that it should mirror, as regards genetically modified food and feed, the recent legislation in respect of GMOs intended for cultivation, which entered into force in early April 2015. Rabies-laced Baits
In an effort to control the spread of rabies in wildlife, the US and Canada regularly dump rabies-laced baits into rural areas. You may see the planes fly by, dropping their little fish-meal covered bait bombs in the forests and fields surrounding your home. You may even feel a little safer, knowing that the foxes, skunks and raccoons in your neighborhood might now be a little less likely to pass rabies on to your dog. You may be wrong and both you and your dog may now be in even more danger than before. Those little baits may pack a lot more punch than anyone ever suspected.
These baits are recombinant vaccinia/rabies glycoprotein, which is an oral vaccine intended to control rabies in wildlife. Recombinant means they have spliced two viruses together. In addition to the rabies virus, these baits also carry vaccinia which is the immunizing agent used in smallpox vaccines. This combination of two viruses is an example of a genetically modified vaccine. Genetically modified vaccines have some pretty nasty and unpredictable habits. The first problem is the viruses in rabies baits are live and that can cause some problems.
Dangers of the Live Virus
The live virus vaccines found in the oral rabies baits are supposedly comprised of a weakened strain of rabies. This is theoretically done by recombining it with the pox virus. If that is true and if all goes well, the body will form an immune response to the vaccine, and the animal that eats the bait will be successfully vaccinated against rabies. That’s what happens when things go right.
When things go wrong, the animal is in a weakened state when he consumes the bait. When modified live vaccines are given to animals that are ill or stressed at the time of vaccination, there is a very real risk of vaccine failure or the vaccine actually producing the disease it is supposed to protect against. Alternately, any latent disease the animal may be harboring will become a full blown disease once he consumes the bait because of the resulting stress on his immune system. With humans encroaching on their territory at an alarming rate, it is likely safe to say that many members of the wildlife population are stressed and malnourished, making them susceptible to vaccine-induced illness.

First thousands reportedly saw a ghostly alien city floating over Foshan in the Guangdong province of China. A few days later people in the province of Jiangxi, China, also reported seeing a similar cloud city. Weather experts have explained the phenomena as natural mirage, an optical illusion called Fata Morgana.
Fata Morgana can be seen on land or sea and involves the optical distortion and inversion of distant objects such as boats, which can appears as skyscrapers because the images become stacked, when rays of light bend as they pass through air of different temperatures such as in a heat haze.
But the mystery has sent conspiracy theorists into over drive. There were previous reports of a similar sighting in China in 2011. YouTube channel Paranormal Crucible said in a video report: "The footage captured by a local resident appears to show a huge city floating in the clouds.
"The apparition, which was witnessed by hundreds of shocked residents, only lasted a few minutes before completely disappearing." The channel speculated it could be "the result of a project blue beam test."
Project Blue Beam is a prolific conspiracy theory which believes NASA will one day simulate an alien invasion of Earth or second coming of Christ through holograms. Serge Monast, a conspiracist from Quebecois, first predicted in the 1980s it would happen by 1983, 1996 and then 2000.
One online poster noted: "Notice the group of buildings is repeated three times? If it isn’t someone making it on their computer, it seriously could be project blue beam."
The Paranormal Crucible video added: "But added: "Or a temporal vortex, a possible parallel universe material briefly into our own reality."

Fluoridation Chemical Company Fined $2 Billion
"NEW YORK, Oct. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The company that gets rid of highly toxic wastes by selling them as a "product" to municipal water departments across the country as cheap fluoridation chemicals has been fined $2 billion for gross violations of the federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), reports the Fluoride Action Network (FAN).
Mosaic Fertilizer, LLC, is one of the largest sellers of a toxic fluoride chemical, "fluorosilicic acid", that cities add to public drinking water. Fluorosilicic acid is described by EPA in the Consent Decrees as a "hazardous waste" produced at Mosaic's fertilizer plants. More than 200 million Americans drink these wastes every day.
For decades Mosaic has been selling fluoridation chemicals to public drinking water systems across the U.S. This Kafkaesque scheme, approved by EPA, benefits the polluter in the belief that it helps the teeth of the poor, according to FAN.
The fine was levied on October 1st by the EPA and U.S. Department of Justice. These wastes are produced at Mosaic's six phosphate fertilizer plants in Florida and two in Louisiana.
"It's outrageous that Mosaic is allowed to sell an EPA 'hazardous waste' to dump into the drinking water used in most major U.S. cities," says FAN scientist Dr. Neil Carman.
Dr. William Hirzy, also with FAN, added, "This loophole needs to be closed by the EPA. It was not addressed in the Consent Decrees which allow Mosaic to continue selling a hazardous waste to the public disguised as a way to boost fluoride in drinking water."
The RCRA laws govern the storage, treatment and disposal of hazardous waste. Mosaic's 60 billion pounds of improperly handled hazardous waste cited by EPA is the largest amount ever covered by a RCRA settlement. Mosaic's wastes have also caused huge local environmental problems, due largely to their high fluoride levels. The fluoride, not captured in pollution control devices and sold for water fluoridation, ends up in their liquid and solid wastes. Other toxic constituents include arsenic, lead, cadmium, uranium and radium. Enormous quantities of these wastes have been stored for years in so-called gypsum stacks. They will never become non-toxic, and these open hazardous waste piles have regularly leaked into rivers and groundwater causing huge fish kills and other problems.

Cars Trapped in Mud From Flash Floods
"All northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway were expected to be closed for at least 24 hours after a powerful storm brought rain and mudslides, trapping cars in Castaic, the CHP said.
Crews were working through the afternoon to free vehicles that were trapped in mud in Castaic, more than 40 miles north of downtown Los Angeles. Some 20 students and others remained inside a school after hours because buses couldn't get through the muck to pick them up, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The mudslides forced the closure of a stretch of Lake Hughes Road north of Castaic. All northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway are blocked by flooding near Fort Tejon north of Gorman, according to the California Highway Patrol. Southbound lanes were expected to be closed for at least three hours.
Drivers, meanwhile, were frustrated."
