Explosion at chemical warehouse in China's Shandong province



" An explosion occurred at a chemical warehouse in Shandong province in eastern China on Saturday evening, the People's Daily China reported. The site is only one kilometer from a residential area.

Firefighters were dealing with the aftermath of the blast in Zibo County, Chinese media reported.

The explosion was so strong that its blast wave was felt within a five-kilometer (3.1 miles) radius, TASS reported, citing local media. Windows in nearby houses shattered.

Chinese media report that eight people have been injured.

You mean when the stock market finally tanks they won't be prepared? I would think anyone with stocks should be paying attention to how the market is doing, and it's not doing well right now. Besides strong diversification (like multiple things, maybe silver, maybe bitcoin, different types of stocks, etc), I don't know what I'd even suggest to someone if I had to. Lots of these things are just becoming more likely to be even more volatile in the future depending on what happens with the market.

Researchers seek to uncover cause of ‘unusual mortality event’ after 30 whales mysteriously die off Alaska

A federal agency announced plans Thursday for a more intense investigation into what caused the deaths of 30 large whales in the western Gulf of Alaska since May.

NOAA Fisheries declared the deaths an “unusual mortality event,” triggering a new-level investigation that brings with it access to additional resources. The agency said the deaths are about three times the historical average for the region.

Julie Speegle, a spokeswoman for NOAA Fisheries in Alaska, said a leading hypothesis for the deaths is harmful algal bloom toxins but she noted that there currently is no conclusive evidence linking the two...."

Lightning strike hospitalizes 16 soldiers in North Carolina

"FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — A lightning strike has hospitalized 16 soldiers on an Army training exercise in North Carolina.

Master Sgt. Patrick Malone, a spokesman for the 82nd Airborne Division, says 60 soldiers were gathered to discuss the day's training when lightning struck nearby around 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Malone said 15 soldiers were hospitalized overnight for observation at an Army hospital, and another was taken to a different hospital for heart monitoring. Two others were examined and returned to duty without staying overnight.
