If anyone can correct or embellish my understanding of what I am seeing, please do so.

I am not sure if anyone ever responded to this so I will go ahead. Just to be safe I would verify the 4 pin cable is good and change the micro usb cable but it sure looks like you are seeing a continuous restart loop of the AUC dongle. You will almost assuredly need to replace it. As far as power requirements go the Rpi should have at least a 1.5 amp power supply (I would recommend a minimum of 2amp personally). A 1 amp power supply will not support the AUC dongle and the RPi at the same time. The dongle will sit idle with just a single green LED on and the Pi itself will crash and only have its red power LEDs on. My impression is it is corrupt firmware on the dongle causing the boot loop. Avalon does has firmware for the AUC on its canaan creative site but I do not know how you would actually reflash the dongle itself or if that will even fix the problem.

I have found this wall wart  can do 2 rasp pi's

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014ZMOZY0?

I have found this usb 2 cable to be very high quality

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B015MJLEUS?

If you do the usb cables above with the wall wart above and you have a fail then the little dongle converter is very likely no good.

but I would give them a try.

use two of the three usb cables
one for power to the rasp pi
one for power to the dongle

save the third
 one for back up

I don't do anything special on my RPI power.  I had a decent amount of phone charger's and usb cords.  So I just used them and then there was zero cost.  I'm all for re-using parts.

I have a good amount sorted at this point just waiting for projects.

If there is enough interest and if Philipma (or another iindividual with good qualifications) is willing to do a group buy we can get them for $650.  I just spoke to Yan at BlockC.

I will write up a thread under group buys.

Give me a little time.

Boom  a little time and new thread:

Thanks for talking to Yan and getting a current quote.   Nice to see as a customer it went down some. It really is a great miner would be great to see even more adapt and use them.

Have they lowered the price on these to $400 yet?

BlockC's last lowering was 9,000 for 10 - http://www.blockc.co/products/avalon6-bitcoin-miner

So no not 400 mark on Avalon 6's.

Zoomhash is 799 for one plus 40 to ship west coast to east coast.

While I prefer these to the s-7 they are costly.

@ dogie try different pools and try a fan speed like 50 or 60.

I seem to have a board drop out in about ten to sixteen hours.

I rotate pools and it seems to go,away for another 10-12 hours.

Actually we can get them for $725 last time I checked.  I will find out if it is still the same.

all set now started mining  Grin

is there any way to control the fan ?

yes go to  the GUI screen and click on

Status

then click on

cgminer configuration

then

look at fan speed %

type in 45 note for my place I use 36  not 45

then look to the bottom right and click

Save & reply

I have 4 avalon 6's note  temps  and fan speeds.

the one with the higher fan is a newer model and has a sanyo ace fan  the lower speed ones are using the stock delta fan

One of the hashing boards seems to keep dropping only a few minutes after I restart cgminer, any ideas? Its temps go down to idle and hashing speed goes to approximately half.

Hello
I'm new in the mining world
just got my avalon6 miner today

I missed up in the network settings
now I'm unable to log in 192.168.1.2
all I get is a black screen with these words

luci - lua configuration interface

Ps. I'm a newbie I know nothing about mining just started into this problem today  Sad

Did you get a Pi with your miner?  You have to log into the Pi (with the Avalon software on it).

I have on first page BlockC's kit image.  It is dhcp so easy to connect to your network, and after you can set up a static IP.  As most like static IP's more.

But I would look at that image and try it.  It's a good one to get started with.

Thank you !
that really worked !

now after I set a pool what do I need to do ?
I see my hash rate is 0
how to fix this ?
sorry I'm newbie in here

1. How do you know which version of A6 you have? I understand there are 2 hardware revisions for A6, so how do you find out which version you have?

Another way to tell is hash rate, as the Rev 2's have a higher base rate - closer to 3.7 than 3.5.

2. Both of my A6 have hot spots on the bottom side. Is it okay to place it upside down? I think I can reduce the heat coming from the bottom side by directing forced air on it if it's placed upside down. Are there something innards that can fall from being placed upside down?

The reason I was told that they have a hot spot on the bottom is because the heat sink is closer to the case on the bottom - plus there's a pretty big open air cavity on the top.  Flipping them over probably wouldn't hurt, and might also help address the issue that hot air sometimes gets trapped in that upper area (because it doesn't have a clean air inlet that goes over the controller board), which can cause the controller to read higher temps than actual ambient.

And yes, those Sanyo Denki Ace fan's are sweet in terms of quality, price and performance!  I use them on all my PSU's as well...

Thank you, MarkAz!

The Avalon 6 miners I bought from you work great! They're Version 2 hardware. OgNasty as escrow is another gentleman. I can recommend both MarkAz and OgNasty, they're an example of true gentlemanship in this cesspool of scammers and low-life scums that infest the forum.

I was also happy with my purchase from MarkAz and used OgNasty to escrow.  And the Sanyo Denki Ace fans are very good.

I would agree on Sanyo Denki, they are good with high RPM depending on what model.   Have not used one on a A6 but in day's of S4's it was my fan of choice if a S4 needed replacement.

So don't think you can go wrong with them I always had good luck with them.
