Hey Rockminer,

Thanks to Eyeboot, I got a new heatsink for that R3. However I think you'll notice something wrong in the picture below. Same unit. Not even 30 days in. Using a pretty nice 80plus gold PSU to run it at stock speed. I don't expect much given how the overheating issue was handled but thought others might like to see this. Again, I got 2 and the 1 running right next to it has been fine. I've tried to RMA this twice now, and people just quit talking to us.

Can't see in the picture - is either of the burned pins (in the red PCI-E plug or in the white socket) pushed in? Typically this happens when there is poor contact and that can be caused by slightly misaligned pins. They don't go into each other, you force the plug, and one of the pins gets pushed in or bent resulting in bad connection, heat, sparks, and melted plastic.

I'll take a closer look but tbh, this unit has been a dud since the beginning, see my earlier post. I've connected enough cables to enough miners to know not to force and make bad connections, and really RockMiner needs to replace this unit for me.

HI Alex and Rockminer,
The T1 is running great my review is scheduled to go up tomorrow.
Great work guys and excellent customer service.  The Controller while working well is touchy.
Alex jumped right on skype and all was set.

Does anyone have the root password for the RPI R-Box 30-32GHs miner?  I have so many RPIs running, I like to edit /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts files to assign unique names to the devices so they are easier to spot when listing addresses in the DHCP host.

It be:

pi

raspberry

That is the default for all r-pi units.

Nope, that is not it.  Neither is root/rockminer, or pi/rockminer.  This is for the image labeled RaspberryPi_Rockminer_Rocket_V1.30.0_192.168.1.254 .  I suspect the publisher put something on there that is non-standard.  The RockMiner info on a google search all says root/rockminer that does not work to get in to edit the fields I want to change.

It should be:

username: root
password: rockminer

but try this

username: pi
password 123456

was the login for the 0.93 version (which I still use for my RK's)but have never found a working one for the latest R-box image (I gave up and connected to a laptop since I couldn't change the setting to not conflict with my RK-boxes)

Try sending Rockie a PM or skype calling / text tech support.  They are pretty responsive with their help.

Hi,

I have spare heatsinks. They are official rockminer ones with the correct number of fins. Although you didn't buy from my online shop (https://www.eyeboot.com) I would happily send you one free of charge if you just pay for the postage. Let me know what you think.

Klintay

Hey, the heatsink arrived today. Thanks again for your help!

Hi, why you increase the price from 4.7 to 5.3 for the T1 ?

I WAS about to buy one set of four.

Im guessing its because the price of BTC has droped.   5.3 is prob = to what 4.7 was a week ago in fiat.

If the btc price is low there is less reason to mine, if the miner price is higher there is even less reason to mine.

You betcha! Yeah I am big into micro-electronics! Just got word today that my Microview has been shipped! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1516846343/microview-chip-sized-arduino-with-built-in-oled-di)

I am working on couple other case designs and one incorporates the Adafruit 16x2 LCD (http://www.adafruit.com/products/1115) which is another custom requested enclosure.

yeah that is wicked. would be super useful to have hash speed and temperature displayed on the a monitor like that.
