Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think it may have been an elaborate "boating accident"

Its not a 'boating accident' when you end up scamming hundreds of thousands or millions of EUR from other people. It is a bank robbery with a boat as a getaway vehicle.

The whole "character" thing at the end did feel to be swallowing him up. People said it was amazingly believable, but I think it became more of an alternate reality.

*edit* I'm not a doctor. I just have an interest in neurology and the mechanics of humans

Sad end for sure.

What happened to him? Gosh guys, I am starting to worry!

Scammed people. Turned mentally ill. Is now in mental care. Says the rumors at least

If you followed rpietilia it was noticeable that his personality changed considerably after his marriage failed and he was hacked for millions in 2016. The scamming people came 6 months later in 2017, so reality is more 'turned mentally ill, scammed people', which makes more sense.

I agree. This is a more plausible turn of events

His last words
Quote
Writen in psychiatric ward. You can put it on the Moon, though.

Last time it was 6 weeks.

I may return

Sad end for sure.

P.S. i dont believe a word he says but the point is he's off the game. At least for a white to win time and rethink new strategies. The point is that he quit and many people lost money.... And now XMR should crash even more. And community lost a valuable member. Trust will not be regained that easy.

It is quite amusing to see the OP ( Legendary Donator ) gone scammer even after donating BTC to the community. This thread is a shame to digital ecosystem and should be closed.

Absolutely agree ... 3 years ago i have been reading Rpietila wisdom and it was heavy and wise stuff, loads of economics and math and all interesting things. Now  whats left is only madman ravings. I think he's different person now. Possibility that account is being controlled by another party that only posts on his behalf. Anyway its a shame... a someone who has been so helpful to the community at first turned out to be a scammer. Huh

At present, I'd invest in:

BTC
ETH
XMR
DAGcoin
Mark (my new project, coming up this year)

About the same in each..

DAGcoing???!!! Are you kidding!!!??? Its a 100% pure Estonian scam!! :DDD

Risto tipped several of us about the Monero being good. I bet a few people got rich thanks to that.

Sad end for sure.

Looks more like mental illness imo, combined with drugs and alcohol abuse, not very amusng at all really.

If risto gets treatment and stays sober he might make a come back.

In light of the recent Satoshi hack it made me start thinking about the bitcoin "backup coin".

How long until from a technical perspective a cryptonote coin (Probably Monero or Boolberry) can handle the # of addresses & transaction volume of bitcoin?  (Knowing that litecoin COULD is partially where I believe it's value comes from)

Some people are just looking for excuses to start a fight. Either they are naturally childish and belligerent or they deliberately try to divide and spread FUD.

Now wonder who have interest to weaken both XMR and BBR communities by playing them off against each other...

Just a bloody period for all crypto over the last couple of months.

Still trying to do work on indexing, but I have a record of coinmarketcap showing total crypto cap at $8.6 billion on August 4th.

Just two months later, we're at $4.6 billion for a whopping 46.5% slide.  Not a lot of hiding places.
