Wrong timing, I doubt anyone will want this graphic cards right now, not miners and not the gamers themselves, RTX 3060 and other 3*** cards are flooding the market and in the next few months its going to get more serious, gamers will be able to lay hands on these cards for a cheaper price than buying the new RTX 4*** cards.
The Nvidia RTX 4080 price varies depending on the model that you buy, with pricing for the RTX 4080 12GB starting at $899 USD / £949 GBP while the RTX 4080 16GB will set you back $1,199 USD / £1,269 GBP.
https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia/rtx-4080-release-date-price-spec-and-benchmarks
For $900, gamers will probably buy a new modern video card with the latest technology, instead of the used RTX 3090 for $600-700.

Nvidia’s RTX 4090 breaks all limits in a leaked benchmark

Going by the 20,192 score spells good news for the RTX 4090 — it beats its predecessor by a healthy amount. We’ve previously heard whispers of Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs being able to double the performance of the RTX 30-Series, and we’re not quite hitting those numbers, but it’s definitely close. VideoCardz notes that the GPU is 78% faster than the flagship RTX 3090 Ti and 90% faster than the RTX 3090.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-excels-in-early-benchmarks/

2900 usd and 78%  better than a 3090

so

2900/1.78 = 1629 usd for a 3090

since used 3090's are selling as low as 750 on usa ebay.

2900 is a really high price

here are  a few examples of buy-it-now on usa ebay

Note I do not endorse these sellers.

1) https://www.ebay.com/itm/165682100100?

740+15 to ship good seller 280 feedback 100% and you can make an offer

this guy his 3 listings

2) https://www.ebay.com/itm/204095407781?

750 + 15 to ship good seller 720 feedback 100%

3)https://www.ebay.com/itm/185516824789?

800 + 8 to ship good seller 158 feedback 100% and you can make offer

so I could get 2 3090's for 1500 and use 1400 to build a rig

or buy one 2900 4090

Sales will suck on the 4090 if they stay at 2900

only  competitive gamers that join tournaments will pay that premium.

Yet one more example of V.B. and eth harming the gaming industry bigly.

Finally, only gamers will buy this gpu, the question is how much nvidia will sell it for, 3080 for 400 usd and this gpu for 3000 usd is not going to sell, gamers are not stupid like miners. They will rather buy a 3080 for 400 usd and say **** off to nvidia hehe

By the way I will buy one 4090 if performance is 2x 3080 and if price is less than 1500 usd, I need for deep learning and gaming.
Why do you need this heater? This graphics card will have even more mining problems than the RTX 3090

EVGA has invited members of the tech press to a closed meeting to announce the discontinuation of their graphics card manufacturing. The company has confirmed it will not launch GeForce RTX 40 series as well as future series.

EVGA will not be making cards from competitors either, such as AMD or Intel. The company has completely ceased making video cards moving forward. This decision will stand as long as EVGA has the same CEO, reports the media.

https://videocardz.com/newz/evga-ceases-video-card-production-no-more-evga-geforce-gpus

philipma1957, are you disappointed?
In Russia, EVGA products are rare and expensive, we won't even notice it.

It's a surprise for me, and I think for all of us. EVGA for me is (was) the best partner of Nvidia.
I had some EVGAs and all of them are great gpus, without any problems

It was the first in my country to offer 3 year warranty, even if we need to send to US after the first year, but at least we had 2 more years of warranty, and the warranty always worked.
It's a shame for Nvidia to lose this kind of partner, the situation in Nvidia is not good at the moment, this is not their first loss.

I wish EVGA goes to AMD in a near future, but as they said, they are leaving GPUs, maybe they will focus on another stuff they already produces, like PSU, Motherboards, mice and keyboards etc

I'm disappointed, I have almost exclusively EVGA GPUs. But I don't blame them I blame nVidia.
The announcement doesn't mention LHR but I think it's the elephant in the room.

EDIT: I've been trying to think of another example where a business intentionally gimped their product for specific applications.
I can't think of anything that comes close. Not even the phone company intentionally pisses off customers.

I assumed that the hashrate of Ethereum classic would be 150-200 terahash, but 300 terahesh is a lot. Although yesterday’s mining experience may have shown that Ethereum Classic mining is more profitable than all Ethereum forks, because the price of Ethereum forks has fallen very much.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 & RTX 4080 16GB/12GB max TGP and GPU clocks specs have been leaked
GeForce RTX 4090
Starting with RTX 4090, this model features AD102-300 GPU, 16384 CUDA cores and boost clock up to 2520 MHz. The card features 24GB GDDR6X memory, supposedly clocked at 21 Gbps. This means that it will reach 1 TB/s bandwidth, just as the RTX 3090 Ti did. Thus far, we have only heard about a default TGP of 450W, but according to our information, the maximum configurable TGP is 660W. Just note, this is the maximum TGP to be set through BIOS, and it may not be available for all custom models.

GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
The RTX 4080 16GB has AD103-300 GPU and 9728 CUDA cores. The boost clock is 2505 MHz, so just about the same as RTX 4090. This model comes with 16GB GDDR6X memory clocked at 23 Gbps, and as far as we know, this is the only model with such a memory clock. The TGP is set to 340W, and it can be modified up to 516W (again, that’s max power limit).

GeForce RTX 4080 12GB
GeForce RTX 4080 12GB is what we knew as RTX 4070 Ti or RTX 4070. NVIDIA has made a last-minute name change for this model. It is equipped with AD104-400 GPU with 7680 CUDA cores and boost up to 2610 MHz. Memory capacity is 12GB, and it uses GDDR6X 21Gbps modules. RTX 4080 12GB’s TGP is 285W, and it can go up to 366W.

After seeing today exponential increase in network difficulty for ETC going to well over 2.3 P I doubt anyone except gamers will be interested in buying such cards, especially at these high power consumption now that electricity prices will rise further starting October for most of Europe.

Beside that, they don't look like they will bring a much better performance compared to the old 3000 generation of cards thus Nvidia will have a lot of problems selling these cards if these are priced high enough.

It will be interesting to follow the market in some weeks/months

Nvidia will launch this beast, and the next generation will come, while there's still plenty of RTX 3XXX in the market and miners are not buying anymore. Some gamers are buying used hardware from miners...
Unless the POW comes with a good coin to keep profits, 4XXX generation will be way smaller than 3XXX, and market will return to "stardard" without miners buying every single piece of GPU.
Another thing to consider, 3XXX series got the hype for Cyberpunk 2077, this generation don't have a similar hyped game.

In my situation I already have 3080 EVGA, only thinking about gaming and using PC to work maybe I'll not buy this new generation in a near future, let's see.

That is what I was thinking. If after Ethereum mining ends which has only few days left now and this week most likely will see the merge or at worse the next one,the other PoW coins so far are not showing that good of a result despite mining continuing normally with these other coins, this though is done with already bought equipment, many people are not buying cards again especially high end ones.So what will that price of 2925 USD for a 4090 mean, well only the enthusiast architects and engineers may need that much of a horse power as for gaming I think the 3090 is far more than enough to run every game at 4K right now,so it does not make any sense that huge price.
