That gay parade in Moscow. I saw a report of it on Western TV. You could see a lot of people with cameras, and 2 or 3 gays being held by 5-6 policemen. That's it. The reporters couldn't get a decent wide-angle picture, probably because there were more reporters than gays there. I call it not so much a rally, as a provocation.

By the way, if a parade for protection of hamsters was held in Moscow without a prior clearance from Major's office, it would have been dispersed the same way.

"No gay propaganda to minors" just mean that you should not share any gay videos, or homoerotic literature to individuals under the age of 18. How this can be claimed as discrimination against the gay people? In Russia, the gay and transsexual people face no discrimination in finding an apartment to rent, or in employment.

No, you're being deliberately obtuse. They don't need to put "spy cameras" in peoples' bedrooms to make it a state issue, you know this. With their policy of "no gay propaganda" they are discriminating against peoples' right to be gay, and perpetuating the idea that such people are not welcome in their society. That's why there are protesting - the gay community feel that they are being mistreated, and their sexuality being made a public issue by an overly authoritarian state.

As for your view on "gay paedophiles travelling to England where it's more socially acceptable", well that's just total bullshit. You just need to take a look at any daily tabloid to see this is not the case. As far as I know, the Russian government is not installing spy cameras in anyone's bedroom. If you travel to Russia with your partner, you will be able to enjoy gay sex without any adverse reaction from the Russian police. However, Russia has made it illegal to spread gay propaganda to minors. I believe it does not transgress anyone's human rights. If some gay pedophile want to molest a boy, then rather than traveling to Russia, he can travel to England or some other country where it is more socially acceptable.

You say sexuality is a private matter, but the reason there are gay protests in Russia is because the state is making that sexuality a public matter, and discriminating against peoples' sexuality.
