I can't say I would want my children to inherit bitcoins from me.
Money, my house, stocks or gold? Yes.
Bitcoins? No.
The time when they get their heritage will be some time far in the future (I hope so at least).
I do not want them to get a bunch of nothing because crazy old dad once had that strange idea of crypto currencies in his head...

I don't have any descendants and have zero plans to squirt any out. However I do like the idea of holding some back to leave to my one thousand cats or pet extreme right wing organisation.

By the time I'm properly old we should be into the true deflationary phase and I'll regret everything I ever bought with it back in the day.

Well said, because one day we will surely regret why did we use our Bitcoins when we had the chance to save it but we didn't...
Just like you, I am still single currently but going to get married soon and I think it's better for me to save these coins for my (unborn) children at least so that these might help me to give them a better life in future... Smiley
I don't think I will be regretting spending my Bitcoin. I am still saving my fiat as well as some of my Bitcoin. When I grow old, I will have a lot of money so I won't have to rely on pension money.
Same with me. I earned and invested in Bitcoin. I think that I have the right to spend it. If my children want some Bitcoin, well they can go earn it themselves.

You obviously don't have any kids. I'll have you know that having a kid will be the most important decision in your life. Your money will be theirs.

Well, I will not be the keeper of bitcoin for children and my grandchildren. although it was a good idea but, I better teach them how to look for bitcoin, than to give it away, because then they can be more independent to produce their own bitcoin. so I will not be the keeper of them bitcoin for now.

Yeah this is a good idea but if you are going to do that for them they will just going to depend on your savings and they are not going to work harder for their own good. That is why I will tell them about good things about bitcoin and I will going to save for them, but I will not going to tell them that I have saved some for them.

I think saving some for future generations is a good idea especially since the value could continue to increase over time due to the deflationary character of bitcoin. It could be worth much more for them than it is for us.

Privacy is always important
Need not to worry. Bitcoin will not get stable value within next hundred years too. Because, when bitcoin mining reward goes decreased, the demand for bitcoins will keep on rising so bitcoin prices will go volatile and higher always. So, saving bitcoin definitely will be profitable for your grandson. Do not miss this opportunity, save for them.
Even after mining reward goes to zero, there is no guarantee that demand for bitcoin will get stabilised so that bitcoin will get stable prices. The demand for bitcoin will keep on rising exponentially with the respect to new people adoption rate. So, saving bitcoin for our grandchildren and their grandchildren will be profitable in my predictions too.
Well for me i am not sure that bitcoin will be more valuable in the future because there is still possibility that bitcoin will crash and alternative are altcoin to use in the future.. just lets hope that it can be happen since many investors and many users of bitcoin are hoping for more price increase for bitcoin..

Bitcoin is a long term project. Therefore it makes sense to save small parts over a long horizon. Do you save Bitcoins for your (grand) child or children?

For those who do not have (grand) children (yet), would you save Bitcoin for them if you would have (grand) children?

Human populations need to reproduce has fallen off in most places that are not a third world Country. So you combine that with the issue of the majority of bitcoin adopters being male, under 35 and you will have very few people giving this a honest shake. Its hard for many to see what tomorrow brings financially and now you want us to think about the long term!

Bitcoin will have evolved by that point as the current set up is already showing wear and tear issues that point to it missing a few steps to be functional in day to day. Hazard to guess bitcoin will be like my cassette tapes or vhs in the basement, next to the binders of hockey cards.

I am still unmarried so I don't think I will be able to save for them as may be in next few years bitcoin will be replaced by some other currency and in that case it will waste my coins, so I will prefer to spend them on myself.

If you are not married then it do not mean that you will not marry for the whole life one day you will get married and then you will have your family and they will have their demands and if you did not start to think about that expenditures from now then you will not be able to fulfill them and will be a burden on you.

I must say that I'm pretty young and due to that I do not think that this will be an option honestly.
Of course it can be done if you are older and its maybe nice but I'm not gonna do it right now.

Saving bitcoin would be possible when bitcoin having comparatively lower price levels and mining is possible. In future mining will become so hard so bitcoin prices will be very high. At the time you can not save bitcoin for yourself then how we could save for our next generations?
There will not be any meaning on saving bitcoin when bitcoin gets stable value always. Once bitcoin gets more stable value people will start using bitcoin as currency, hopefully. When more people are using bitcoin as currency, bitcoin will not fetch huge returns like what it is doing right now.

I think it's to early to do that, saving bitcoin for my children. Because i'm still 20 and i'm not even have a girlfriend, lol. But i will do it for sure, if i already married and have a child.
But, with the respect to saving money or bitcoin, starting earlier must be the right option.

I like to suggest as you got very good opportunity to make your married life as well as your children's lives more prosperous if you plan up right away. Starting saving bitcoin earlier in the age of 20 itself, must be life's very big gift. You may get chances of becoming millionaire by your 30th birthday itself and your son may born as millionaire too.
Yes, to save bitcoin for your children, you need not to be even married. Yes, you can start saving even you are being a child. Saving as a child for your child is possible with bitcoin and it is mostly recommended in my view too.

Because, saving bitcoin must be possible and profitable only for our generation. There is no guarantee that same opportunity will be available to our son or grandson.
That must be right point. Saving bitcoin would be possible when bitcoin having comparatively lower price levels and mining is possible. Is Bitcoin gives you more confidence and optimism than gold? Gold because you can even touch and bitcoin is air.
