Now I need to figure out how to get a list of all the registered TLDs.
I can only think is to search it on domain registrar sites and check if the domain extensions (TLD) is taken already or not. Example of bitcointalk on crombell for faster viewing of available domain extensions.

Code:
https://www.combell.com/en/order-domain-names?domainname=bitcointalk

Coinimize mixer uses more than one domain. I think .biz, .co and .is extensions.

Otherwise, what you propose is a centralized database, which will give a negative result in a search on all domains except for the 12-15 currently known active mixers. All other domains belong to the not mixer service group, and it is too much work that will not bring much benefit to users.
A valid list with active and non-scam services is perfectly fine.

Another thing that can be done to fill the database:
If the legit service is 1234.com, you can consider all others TLDs not safe to use, and add them directly to the DB. It can save some time in the long run Grin

Not a bad idea, depending on the UI, I wanted to do the same (a bit like scamadviser.com) but I think you should make no difference between yellow and red.
Keep it simple:
- Red: Not safe because (and why not a link source)
- Green: Safe service
- Grey: unknow service

Another thing that can be done to fill the database:
If the legit service is 1234.com, you can consider all others TLDs not safe to use, and add them directly to the DB. It can save some time in the long run Grin

I think it's a good idea

Well, if you are to have a list of trustworthy services, it's an added bonus if there is a list of services that are scam where people who try to do extra research can look to. It would also help identify services that were previously legitimate and have gone defunct or have turned into scam

I'm thinking of using color codes like this:

I am more in favour of the option "if the mixer is not on this list, then it is unreliable". It is too much work to find all the fake, phishig, scam sites, and it is never possible to list them all. There is always a new one.
Such a list must have a log on the regularity of updates so that the reader can be sure that he has fresh information.

- Yellow: Previously legit service that has turned rogue
- Grey: Unknown, link not in the database, should be treated same as red for all intents and purposes.

That would make it easier for people to tell which is which.

Edit: Closed services would be red too.

Do you think I should compile this list into a searchable database that people can copy and paste the domain name into to see if it's a scam? (Or legit? Or unknown even.)

I'm asking because I'm not sure if anyone actually checks this list before they go to a website.

You mean like CTRL-F? I'd say the list works fine as-is.

No, more like a "Have I been pwned" type service but with URLs instead of e-mails.

And it could search for a lot more than mixers.

*Of course the list of malicious domains will be embedded in a local JS file to avoid network requests.

How I wish they would use the same energy to promptly blacklist phishing domains of genuine services that have not been seized by the Government. Sometimes they won't bother to do anything even when you report a phishing domain to them.

So the scammer owned several domain names to copy the real mixer.
Hes's probably doing it with other tumblers, there's no reason why they shouldn't, it's part of their routine
It's cheap to buy a domain, it's cheap to host it.

a sample of the list:

sinbadmixer.com
sinbadmixer.net

Now that we have another mixer down in the forum, you will add to the list.
The mixer was down and seized by government authorities, not down in the forum. A service can be lively even their team abandon an announcement thread in Bitcointalk.

I know what mixer you meant but your information is not really accurate and I know their announcement thread was archived, that service representative account was banned by the admin too.

This came as a surprise to many in the forum because immediately after Royse777 announced the escrow address has been refilled and it was not up to 3 or hours when the seizure announcement came in to the forum.
It is coincidence.

Quote
And I don't know why mixers are used for this act.
Mixers are like other services and products which all can be used by criminals. You can not block all criminals to use any service.

Quote
But I still believed that there are still good mixers exist.
Mixers are good if they have good mixing process for their users but if criminal money comes to mixers, governments will consider these mixers are illegal and will seize those service websites.

Hi dude.

That's because scammers use this method:

- They see a new service annonced on Bitcointalk
- They buy domain extensions, to reserve a slot, and wait patiently. (No problem to wait a month or a year)
- If the service becomes popular in the niche, they start to use the domain name.
- Everything is ready to go, up to forget to remove some footprints.

I basically use a tool to check every domain extension, and I can see when they're bought too. So for exemple:
If there is new mixer called Chipmixer.com and a month later someone buys Chipmixer.net, you can guess there is a very hight possibility that the domain name will be used to scam people, and the chance of just a radom guy buying chipmixer.net to make a blog or whatever is very very low.

Quote
At same time, maybe OP can revamp this thread and ensure that all clones listed are still active?

I could remove dead websites of course, but scammers can buy old domain names too (and they do it), so it can be usefull for reference.
Helix-gram is an exemple where it can be.

(At the same time, it gives me hint sometimes to find other scams with archive.org)

2. I think it's OK to leave those that are also inactive. The list will act as an archive of past scam bitcoin mixers. In the past, I noticed that scammers tend to make comebacks using domains of old mixers that had been shutdown before.

I am of the opinion, that all domains should be left listed, even when they become inactive. Someone may try to start a legitimate business at some point, and it would be good if there were a warning for domains with a scam history. Just imagine, you start a business, invest a lot of money in it, and suddenly you start being contacted by scammed users who want their money back, even though you have nothing to do with it.

It would be very hard to maintain as you have to check each domain every other time.

There is no need to keep the list updated every single day. But I think it's not a too big effort to do it once at each 3-4 months. Or at least once at each 6 months. That would mean 2-4 updates per year...

1. Verify the authenticity of a website: Always double-check the website's URL and look for official announcements or trusted sources confirming its legitimacy.

2. Do thorough research: Utilize resources like Bitcoin Talk forums to gather information about a website's history, reputation, and any reported scams.

3. Be cautious of pop-ups and unexpected messages: Avoid interacting with pop-ups or messages that claim to confirm successful transactions. Genuine services do not rely on such tactics.

By staying informed and sharing this information, we can help protect one another in the cryptocurrency space. Let's work together to create a safer environment for all users.

Stay safe and vigilant!

There are about 4 or 5 services facing a ddos attack the last few days. It means ~30% of the websites. And in the others 70%, a lot of them are using CF, if they didn't, the 30% would be higher.

There is definitely a tendancy recently to attack the bitcoin mixers, and more than usual

When the service has been launched recently, it rather comes from the crooks who try to extort money by asking BTC as ransom, threatening to DDOS them if they don't accept. And if the admin showed a sign here that he has a big reserve, be sure he will be hit hard more than others.

But this theory is not valid today if I check my sheet.

When the service is old or a serious contender in the niche, it's another story, but the mixers currently targeted don't belong into the "old" group

Somehow it seems to me that both Whirlwind and Sinbad have a problem with DDoS attacks at the same time, smells as if everything comes from one kitchen.

How much money a scammer can make?

Here is a scammer in action: BTC address 1HtV8k2Pj4y5bRR1NbjF2uEq8DZjJF2pJk
Received about 45 BTC since ~2020-2021. More than 1 fucking million dollars

Blockchair says: the Total received 45.22614811BTC - 1,875,270.81USD
Close to 2 million. Really huge money in just two years. I looked at the last few transactions, so almost every week they have a minimum of one incoming transaction.

Considering the very large number of sites, they often start from the beginning, I'm really curious, about how they promote the sites. This must always be very efficient in the short term before fraud is recognized and the domain is eventually blocked.

Many complaints about long delays in the withdrawal of funds, and transactions stuck for days.
They do get downtimes, but the good news is they usually work on processing the transactions, though not usually in a quick manner. The newbie accounts registering in the forum just to make complaints and then later on saying that the issue was resolved might be because the only way to get to cryptomixer publically is through their ANN since there is No twitter or Reddit

Yes I noticed the problems there but knowing how old is [banned mixer], I'm not worry about it.
All mixers can have a technical problem from time to time, but the most important thing is how they handle people question.

People joining the forum only to post their problem, you can see this in any topic.
Since they haven't got a reply to their email, they try their luck here.

However the user TraderBitPa is the kind of account that will edit his post later and include a phishing link, or a blog (full of phishing links)

It looks like there are serious operational issues with [banned mixer]. OP, I saw that you were there, I assume that you are following the development of the situation.
Many complaints about long delays in the withdrawal of funds, and transactions stuck for days.

Hi!
Transaction stuck 9 days.
ID: 837631305cbfe31ca7db6fd376b63c7047ac8168043ecd228559c5d1824f6440

Okay, that can happen, but what catches my eye are a few newly created accounts, which confirm that the funds have arrived.

Hello,

I have sent funds but not received on my side at all.

RECEIVED

Received

It is clear that it is a common phenomenon that people register on the forum only when they have a problem, so this may be the explanation for this occurrence. However, this raises a flag for me for now

Also, a Newbie who comes to "calm down" the matter with praise for [banned mixer] looks like an ordinary shill

Hi all!
I have been using this mixer for a long time and never had any problems. Recently there was a problem, I immediately wrote an email to support and my problem was solved. I want to say thank you very much!
Best mixer in the world!

What shocked me the most is the number of scam mixers.
Isn't that the same with any business nowadays: creating a scam site is much easier than creating a real service.

Unfortunately, you're 100% correct. You need lots of skills to run a business in the long term. It's much easier to order a cheap website on fiverr, run a campaign on bitcointalk and voila: you can run away with the funds.

Another shocking thing is that all mixers closed by the law enforcement also got their BTC seized. Why don't they have any protection against these raids? Or were the owners/employees made to disclose login details and wallet passwords?
That's because they (have to) use hot wallets for their funds. If the physical server gets seized, the private keys are in there.

What about file system encryption? I've also heard about self-destruct buttons and similar tech to destroy the server remotely. There should be some kind of solution for this.

This leads to two possibilities imo, given the amount of money confiscated each time a service got seized ; either that these platforms put all their money in hot wallets, or that there are unconfiscated funds in cold wallets that no one knows who owns their private keys.
For example, the money that was seized from Chipmixer servers did not seem to me a large amount in view of the size of the service, while huge amounts were seized after the FTX assets were confiscated, and after that we did not hear that its owner was acquiring other assets.
Perhaps it is fortunate for the authorities that even if there are complaints about one of the mixers, they remain in the realm of the anonymity, since no one will venture to reveal his identity after the authorities seize all the assets.

Boomchange.io (SCAM - Fake Crypto Exchange)
Boomchange.com (SCAM - Fake Crypto Exchange)
I don't know if you have paid enough attention to the post, but this list is exclusive for scam Bitcoin mixers or tumbler. If you have time, then you can create a list of scam exchanges and maintain it

I'm also wondering why the funds are so often seized.

What shocked me the most is the number of scam mixers. And I believe that's just a small fraction of all scams out there. Another shocking thing is that all mixers closed by the law enforcement also got their BTC seized. Why don't they have any protection against these raids? Or were the owners/employees made to disclose login details and wallet passwords?

I'm also wondering why the funds are so often seized.

If the owners of the mixer are physically arrested, is it conceivable that if some of the funds are returned they could benefit of a reduced sentence?
Or is it just bad security? Maybe they're too confidant and sure of themselves?

Then I imagine that when governments and agencies decide to devote financial and human resources to investigating a team, it's a safe bet that concealing private keys can be difficult. When you see that in most countries just the fact of refusing to decrypt your laptop (when it is encrypted) can be an avowal of guilt or an aggravating circumstance, you can more or less easily think that mixer owners have good reasons for giving their keys away.

I won't add it to the list since it's a total different business to me, sorry.
You were not mixing your bitcoins but you were swaping them for an altcoin. That's not the purpose of a Bitcoin tumbler and this site has never advertized itself as such (if I'm correct).

All the text on their website about the anonimzation is just a bullshit that they have set up to attract potential customer.

Lol. I didn't know that but yeah it seems a good motive not to put them on this list.

And if you ask me, the website was suspicious since the day 1. Just look at the name. Weird name to choose for a business like this. Better Call Raul, seriously lol? It's a meme from internet

Well, I don't think that's such a good reason anymore, since there are meme coins that have been quite successful on the Internet, albeit seasonally.

I visited the website this afternoon and noticed the seizure's page. It was a fake one.
They mixed their name with Chipmixer... well, that's the only thing they really mixed here...
If you check now the page is gone, authorities would not do that and would have keep the site alive for longer

If you look at people's comments in the campaign thread, all indications are that it is an exit scam. So it's going to have to be added to the list in this thread.

I am curious to know how much they may have scammed, as it seems they had been operating normally until now. Is it worth scamming people when you can continue to do business honestly and make money on an ongoing basis? We don't know the specific circumstances of the case.

Yeah I just went to see this and indeed, it smells strongly of scam... It's a safe bet that we'll never get a feedback from this team unfortunately!  Roll Eyes

Indeed it would be interesting to have some BTC addresses linked to their service to try to see if a big deposit was made (as KingsDen assumed for example tens of BTC or even less) to "motivate" this potential exit scam

It's a pity that it ends like this, it was a nice service, very privacy-focused..
Actions like this damage the whole sector and ruin the confidence of many users. Like you guys, I find it strange not to operate in the normal way and make money like this, I can't understand what they could have gained from it (in case of a big deposit wasn't made).

I don't know if anyone has any feedback on the last transactions made before the site was closed, were they assumed and honest?

What about BetterCallRaul.it?

I think it should be on the watch and will probably end up on the list of scams. They have stopped operations in a strange way, to say the least.
Yeah, I also think it was an exit scam given the evidence presented by some members already, but this list is exclusive for Bitcoin mixers/tumblers that are scam or have closed.
If I am not mistaken, BetterCallRaul.it was more of an instant crypto exchange with the promise of making the transactions "untraceable" and not ever asking for KYC verification from its users.

The same question running in my mind. It could be that they recieved one big deposit maybe running to hundreds of btc, who knows?
I have known some situations where projects kick off honestly and with a well defined purpose but in the process of the business some unforseen circumstances will force them out of business thereby making them to turn scam which was not their initial intention.
But for BetterCallRaul, they were given warm welcome and their no KYC system almost attracted me few days ago. So, I don't really understand why they should behave this way.

Yes I went to their site to see the content of the screenshot shared by myself, and I find that it doesn't look official, it looks fake.

What do you think about it? Do we know if it's a rug pull / scam or if they've really been caught?

I can't really tell why but the "has been seized" page looks totally fake to me, maybe because of the logos on the top right and left, anyway, I have a bad feeling about this one...

I can argue with two or three things.

- The minimum amount to mix with Wasabi is 0.01 BTC. Not everyone needs to mix such amount.
The mixers have a lot lower amount requirement, from 0.001 to 0.003 BTC

- Wasabi (a company behind it), with the zkSNACKs coordinator (by default), can block any Unspent Transaction Output, if they think your bitcoins are related to an illegal activity
https://i.imgur.com/jcQBcJj.jpg

I have never see a centralized mixer with such practice, and I believe if it happens, the mixer will lose its whole reputation, and the whole business perhaps

- Some people may prefer to use a web-based service compared to a software (for whatever reason)

Every person and every Bitcoin user has their own preferences and habits.

Many mixer sites are honest, and many people use such services without ever being scammed.

You could ask the same question with any P2P service for example, it makes no sense. A lot of it is based on trust, reputation, and the longevity of some websites speaks for themselves. Of course, there is always a risk of exit scam, but each user manages his own personal risk policy

I thought it would be better to make a dedicated topic about Bitcoin mixers scams.
My old post was really getting too large, it's uncomfortable for me and it's also detrimental to my 1st post for the SERPs, as well for the (legit) mixers. So my apologies

The topic will now be used to maintain my list of scams (with more references added), share my findings, post my diary, how to avoid a scam, how scammers are making banks, etc. You might be surprised at how imaginative they can be.

I list mixers you should avoid (either because there is an unresolved accusation against them or something not right) or mixers that have closed their service for whatever reason.
Great effort, man; well done. A long and good list. Thank you.
I hope you have not forgotten anything. I hope you will update it constantly. It will be a good reference for everyone.

Really, the matter has crossed all limits. Every day a new mixer appears, and after you verify it, you find it is a scam mixer. scammers prefer to create mixers because mixers have become widespread in these years and are required by many in the crypto arena, with the presence of scam mixers that imitate the official domains of honest mixers. It is the responsibility of each customer to do his own research and check the reviews of previous customers about the mixer that he will work with, it may take hours for him, but it is better than sending his bitcoins to a scam mixer and stealing his crypto in cold blood.

The 2 above are already down, but adding for reference

- Chipsmixer.com: phishing URL

- cryptomixerr.io: same scammer behind cryptomixer-io.net

- Added bitmixer.cash: gone at the graveyard and I doubt it will come back
- Added unijoin.biz and unijoin.co: Phishing sites. I found them on Lumen's database
- cryptomixer.si and coinmixer.it are from the same bastard

There are 250 scams on the list. For every 1 legit mixer, there are 16 scams.

I would think that there is fewer and fewer scams over the years. Probably because most domain names have already been bought.
Once the technique of using a very similar domain name is used, scammers will use more sophisticated methods

Remember bestmixer.io? I didn't know a domain seized can be sold again later. I thought it was seized forever. Someone bought it to promote a casino stuff during a time. Now it's offline

Hi

Yes, anonymixer.org is a scam. That's why the site is (already) listed on the original post. The typical scam copies the design of a legit tumbler and buys a domain name similar.

This is a fraud? This site is not on your list, so I thought it was a franchise.
Scammers are getting really creative, new modified logo and they are using Huawei clouds so they are probably located in Hong Kong, China.
There was one mixer with same name in past with domain bimixer.io, but it was closed down few years ago.
This bitmixer service was once available in Bitcointalk forum but it shut down in 2017:

Usually, scammers change the TLD, or just a letter in the name to confuse people. Here he tries a different method. This one litterally used the .onion adress of ChipMixer and bought the .online domain name for the clearnet. Of course, copying the design as they usualy do.

Code:
https://chipmixorflykuxu56uxy7gf5o6ggig7xru7dnihc4fm4cxqsc63e6id.online/

correct URL http:// chipmixorflykuxu56uxy7gf5o6ggig7xru7dnihc4fm4cxqsc63e6id.onion/

The person behind the website also owns chipmixer.cx and has also a blog in which he promotes other scams (that he surely runs too)
He apparently likes the signature design used for the campaign running here since he uses it for an ads banner on this blog mixersbitcoin.com
The scam URL in the banner has been changed not so long ago. Doesn't matter it's still a phishing URL

It has been added. Thanks.

What's happening

Mixsafer.com decided to stop the service and close its doors. (3 hours ago)

One hour later, they add that someone else has restored the domain and has control of the website to scam people.
The whois details haven't changed since  2021-10-15. Either the person has access to Mixersafer's account on Namecheap or something else, but if that's not, then Mixsafer could easily shut down the website by pointing the domain to another IP server.

The person above didn't receive his/her mix before this announcement. So, it could also be a lie from Mixsafer. A sure thing, Mixsafer.com is now a scam to avoid.

A few days ago i tried mixsafer.com and bitcoins never arrived. Is another SCAM, they dont answer the emails, they only say in the forum that it works but it is not true. Let no one else lose their bitcoins on these sites. In this forum it is in the list of those that do work, but in the Internet scam lists, all users say that it is a Scam.

I start to think Blender.io closed its service.

It's now several days (too many) the website is down (with .io & .to), as well as their other product at BlenderWallet.io, whatever if it's on the clearnet or dark web, all links are dead.

- Here they announced a maintenance
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59765651

- Here we can see it was down somedays ago
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59953403

- Here we can see the wallet's website was down some days ago https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.59838885

- Last active on April 05 (i know it doesn't mean a lot but added to other points...)

- No post to announce another maintenance, as he did previously. (i know it doesn't mean a lot but added to other points...)

I'm a bit surprised but it doesn't sound good.

If I can help I'm happy, in the same way, I'm happy to receive help when I need it. Sharing is the power of the www.

Your suggestion: create a site with a database.

A database, or a blog, is the same problem. Websites should not be trusted!
Just look at all the blogs on the web that promote scams. I can't even remember the last time I visited a site that didn't have a phishing URL.
Another example I could give: someone suggested to me the URL of a mixer, saying it was posted on dark.fail (a known website), I replied I don't trust websites. A few days later, it appears the website was hacked, and the URL was wrong.
I could make a website as you suggest and insert scam mixers and label them as a "legit website"

Community discussions are not 100% bulletproof but a lot much more reliable because there will always be someone to comment and/or give their opinion, share their experience

Yes, I put a disclaimer on the topic you are talking about but it is not enough as we know. Just look at the number of people who get ripped off on a daily basis. The more information there is on the web the better.
I have a different opinion on that, I don't think it's someone's duty to constantly take care of inattentive people but if you wish so, then you are welcome.

I think the smartest deal here would be to create a website that will verify bitcoin mixer URLs via 3 ways:
1. chipmixer.com - Legit website
2. chipmixers.com - Scam website
3. chipmixdsl.com - Not in our database, do your own research

Hope you've got the point.

@Synchronice

Hello,

As explained, I thought it would be good to make a dedicated topic to separate scams from legitimate ones. Also as I said in the first post, this topic was getting too big for me (I don't have good eyes) and negatively impacts the SEPRs. There is also another reason but too long to explain (I avoid scammers targetting something)

Yes, I put a disclaimer on the topic you are talking about but it is not enough as we know. Just look at the number of people who get ripped off on a daily basis. The more information there is on the web the better.

If I can't find your domains easily, google can't too, so no potential victims for you on both ways.
By the way, it depends on what definition we give to "easily" but I can find new scams quite "easily", it's all about extracting data or spy on scammers. Added to other users who participate to make both lists. There are also scammers sending PMs about scams created by "their enemies"  Cheesy but that's another story

@cappola

Thank you =)

I think, this thread is enough in any way: 2022 List Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites
Plus, you have a good disclaimer:
Quote
Although the list is updated as frequently as possible, (as soon as a change is needed), it's important for people to do their own research to make up their own opinion. Follow the announcement topics (links are posted when there is one), see what's going on, check the recent feedbacks from others, etc...

There are a few legit bitcoin mixer websites, really a few that you can count on your fingers, why bother and create a list of scam bitcoin mixers when their number can be virtually infinite.

I can register hundreds of domains that will be similar to the known mixers or use the combination of key words and create new ones that may look professional, you can't catch these domains easily, even these new domains can't reach you always. It looks like you pound the water in the mortar.

I really intend to improve the topic as time goes by, be sure it will be done and I won't just give some names. It's because sometimes it takes me a lot of time to make some search/verification.
Recently, I checked each ANN topic about mixers to clean the shit from people posting phishing links, It took me a week lol. If someone asks me what the last book I read is, I can answer "ChipMixer, Mixing Reinvented"
That said, your suggestion will definitely be followed.

I have added the domains you mentioned (as well as the one mentioned by @blenderio).

There should be warning that a website not in this list doesn't mean the website is legit/have no problem and user should do thoughtful research. It can be very easy to be fooled. There are a lot of scams, much more than legitimate tumblers, (unfortunately).
Some don't bother to create a website with a different TLD (.net instead of .com) and replicate the design of a well-known mixer in order to mislead people.
Others go further using the IDN homograph attack.
To make it simple they use very similar characters. For example, using "l" lowercase L, and "I" uppercase "i". Or "ẹ" instead of "e".

examples below:
Code:
aladinwebsite .net
aiadinwebsite .net
bitcointumblerslist. com

For reference, my list of Bitcoin Mixers Bitcoin Tumblers Websites.
