I think the best way is to hold eth or btc. And as for others, you had better do some short time holding. You had better not be so greedy whrn you are dealing with them. Sell them with a reasonable price and buy in some in a lower price.
I think the most appropriate and wise thing to do with a down-market situation is to refrain from selling, if you sell your altcoin right now, you will only suffer a lot of losses, I think you have to force yourself to be patient and survive until the market returns to normal, sell your altcoin when you can make a profit.

I will definitely hold as long as possible, if I sell I may lose any possible profits and possible would lose the initial investment also, good thing is that I was aiming for long term profits since the beginnning so the drop on the market doesnt affect me that much.
When price is going down you should hold your altcoin. It is best to hold for a few moments and wait until the market price go up again. In another choice is to sell your coin and buy new coin which is profitable.

When the price is going down, it is the best time for buying more coins, not selling in cheap. I think altcoins fall down more than bitcoin. At this current moment, bitcoin is in 6600 USD but ETH in under 380 USD! So, in the red zone, holding is the best decision for the altcoins.
