it is not a bad idea, but there are some things you should consider first, in that way, you can lose a large amount of profits that you can earn by holding hold of potential coin alt, and you can lose a large amount of capital that you've saved it in alt coin, and selling it for a low price, that's some risk that might happen, but if we can manage it well I think why not try it, bitcoin is currently in very good growth and bitcoin value veryhigh, taking a bit of a risk to double profits
It is really not a bad idea most especially if you are holding some shitty coins. Some may take a very longer period to recover and that is not good.
The best thing is to sell those shitty coins, hope to get some little bitcoin to get the bitcoin gold equivalent of it and then buy some of the altcoins that can quickly get back up pretty fast after the fork.

believe that this strategy is futile. in my opinion, we need to wait for price adjustments in the market, and it definitely will happen after all bitcoin holders additional token. This is one of the extracted rules of trade

With the upcoming bitcoin fork and the so called "dividend" that will be received thru bitcoin gold the price of BTC is on the rise. I am considering selling all my altcoins, even at a loss, so that i can buy more of them once bitcoin's price rises up higher.

What are your thoughts on this? Would this be a good strategy?

I think so, that is a brilliant idea that i must do or maybe i will still hold my alts and invest for another sets if investment while BTC is at the lower price.

Well some altcoins have made names for themselves and wont affect from BTC price much. So its hard to consider which is a reliable altcoin and which is not. Holding btc will definitely give you more Btcg but selling altcoins for loss may not be a wise decision.

hard to tell market will go up or go down now. because it not worth if btg just like the same with bch
It is always hard to tell indeed as we can only speculate. Still, with great strategies of making a whole lot from the situation at hand, there are ways you can make the best use of some of them. Alts now are really on the dip and most definitely if you have some potential alts now, you can get some pretty cool profit as well on them as much as the BCG value you will also get.

That's a well known good strategy brother. Don't worry about the others who say its a loss. They probably don't know how trading works.
If You believe that the coin you invested in has a good potential and it will fall further to rise back later then it's probably the best thing to sell it now to buy back at a cheaper price. To be logical even that's considered as a profit. But be careful as to which coin you are investing in because if it doesn't have the potential to rise up then you are doomed.
At the end, it still balls down to the coin being held. And I really like your strategy. If there are chances of the alts even getting lower, it is best to sell them now and buy back when they are pretty huge on dips and the profit will keep running back once they start getting pumped. Great one mate! This is one piece to take away.

I usually avoid trading alts but after come across your way of thinking, I come to a conclusion of why not give it a try in addition to my btc/usd trading.

try not to sell/buy too much, reduce your selling and buying activities as much as possible. Try to take a decision and stick with it, there will be many other forks coming up, will you sell then all your ALTS to buy more BTC as well? That shouldn't be a reason. If you want to buy BTC do it because you believe in it, not because a fork is about to happen - that's just too much back and forth and you ain't going anywhere like that. If you have good alts be content holding them, if you have enough of sell them and buy BTC, but don't convert from one to another for "fork reasons" (unless you are against what the fork is implementing, which is unlikely, because forks generally improve protocol and the technology.

I think that is a good plan for now, " devidend " will make altcoin price action falling down and we must prepare for that. Sell all altcoin and replace it into bitcoin or currency will protect our asset. Wait and see the price again and wait to buy another coins for investing or trading. Nice move and will make us no panic sell and also give time to analyze what should we do if this moment happen again. Thank you.

Well I think its not a good idea either as selling even at lost then just buy back.
Yeah bitcoin is a great asset ever and you can at least profited but if you just want to sell your alts just to have a bitcoin gold then think twice. Just don't touch your alts and leave it besides you can buy bitcoin gold when it's already in the market.

That sounds a good plan but if you sell your altcoins even at a loss is quite not good. So do you have more investment in altcoins which is equivalent to bitcoin cash?

Just do some analysis on altcoins which may regain its value back after a hard fork. I would suggest if you can sell only some part of altcoins and invest those income in bitcoin or in upcoming bitcoin gold. So that you can manage your holdings and earn something at the same time.

I don't think you should do that, it's very risky, I would hold for now and wait the end of the fork
yes its really risky who knows when alts will bounce back even btc are showing some downfall we aren't sure when is the timing to hold or sell
our alts its better to keep them on hold instead of trying to sell and rebuy.

Yes is always there in all types of trading but you need to take the risk if you want to make money.

It's a good strategy, but I do not recommend to sell at loss as most altcoins prices seems declining during bitcoin rally.
Bitcoin new ATH set at over $5900 on OKCoin back in few days ago, and bitcoin price still struggle to reach $6K, maybe this week, put all of your funds in it then you will get more profits obviously. On the other hand, you can make more profit with buy back more altcoins after bitcoin reach its peak.

Maybe, but we are still unsure of what is ahead of use. Rumors are rumors ang prediction are prediction. Maybe it's safer to sell alts in a price that is higher than the cost you have bought them. So profits will stay as profits. I know that risking for a better profit is a goal but when it comes to deciding, and you can have both, I think it's better to wait and sell at high price. That's a sure earn.

I think this is only appropriate if the price of Bitcoin is rising and if the altcoin is really potential then you should sell half and buy again when the price is lower. I always do that and limit the risk of investing in altcoin
This is what exactly most of the traders do in order to gain more profit, they buy the coins at cheaper rates and sell them once the market is high. It is just like that of stock, buying at low rates and selling at higher rates. This is actually a very technical kind of thing and you need to make your decisions very much wisely. Only then you can earn good amount of profit.

This would be in your benefit, if you are shifting your investment from the unreliable altcoins to the most reliable crypto i.e Bitcoin. Altcoins will likely to dump if the price of Bitcoin will continue to rise more and more. Don't wait to buy Bitcoins just do it as soon as possible before the price elevation, you will never regret on your decision.

You know what? I am gathering the same idea. LOL. But I rely more on alternative coins rather than that bitcoin fork. For example, you only have less than 1 btc, for example you have .1 btc out of alts. Well it is not worth switching to btc. What would be your profit if we say that the price of one BTG is 300 usd? Your gain is only 30 usd? Is that enough for you? What I am saying now is to hodl altcoins.

A clever idea now would be, hold the altcoins you have now or sell them to buy bitcoins. The value has really raised high now. Other altcoins growth is good as per coinmarketcap.com.
