With the upcoming bitcoin fork and the so called "dividend" that will be received thru bitcoin gold the price of BTC is on the rise. I am considering selling all my altcoins, even at a loss, so that i can buy more of them once bitcoin's price rises up higher.

What are your thoughts on this? Would this be a good strategy?

Yes Sir.. It's Good Strategy, now we see bitcoin price increasing day by day but in other site altcoin price drop day by day. because Next November the new bitcoin hardfrok  coming for that every on wants to more profit from here.

Every on sell altcoin and buy bitcoin to get bitcoin hardfrok.. After coming Hardfrok you can buy atlcoin more cheaper.

Thank you.

SOrry for asking this newbie question.

If i am buying some bitcoins, how do i get those BTC gold ?
Do i have to keep those BTC on a specific wallet or kraken ?

You are a newbie, so it is normal to ask such questions. It is important you move your coin to a wallet you can control the private keys and claim your funds after the fork once the coast is clear. However, for a newbie, this might still be some hard task for you to do most especially when it involves your private key which security is very essential for it as you can miss all your funds if you keep it carelessly.

Nevertheless, some of the exchanges will let you know if they will be supporting the new chain, so obviously, they will give you the other chain once it forks. I dont know about kraken, but bittrex did that and some other exchanges during the last fork including some wallets as well. Just do your findings and see if it is possible, otherwise look for a better way to keep your wallet. All thesame, keeping your funds in a wallet that you can control your funds is very important. If you can download exodus or electrum, you should be fine as they are decentralized wallets and will guide you on how to claim your forked coin once it arrives.

That works for me well especially this time because alts is bleeding and maybe a month before we ever see good progress,
Selling altcoins if planning to buy them again in future is a good decision but I think, it will be much better to hold on to them. However, selling out any crypto coin in order to get bitcoin can prove to be beneficial for future. Bitcoin is rising up and people are talking about the November fork. Many are planning to buy bitcoin before that because everyone is expecting a large pump.

Looks like many people sell their altcoins for bitcoins and the price of the bitcoins go down. I think that after the hard fork the altcoins will recover.

That was a good idea sir, we should sell all alts now because there is a coming fork. As I read in the news, if we have a bitcoin it will be doubled after the hardfork.

Its not going to be doubled since there probably would be a split like what happened to bitcoin cash. If you have btc stored in a wallet that would support bitcoin gold, as what it's perceived to be, then you'll receive that equivalent to the amoubt of bitcoin you have stored.

I think it is a good way to do. When you are starting in trading you should do this in order for you to make more coins to be trade. So buy altcoins sell it and buy again more cheaper altcoins then sell it again. Thats how trading work.
Yes they are at reciprocal to one another. There is a dip in bitcoin and you will see the pump in altcoin price and vice versa. Actually altcoins don’t work better when we talk about the rehabilitation after a dip. As bitcoin just jump up after going down, altcoins don’t behave like it. But still it is quite better to sell altcoins to buy bitcoins.

It depends to you if you want to sell your altcoins and invest to the bitcoin but we dont know what actually happen to the price of bitcoin after fork this month but I hope it will have good result. But if you can prevent selling altcoin its better because altcoins also gives you high profit . Because if the price of bitcoin increase they have altcoins or other altcoins for sure will increase also. Altcoin and bitcoin gives you more profit.

Is that true? Because as I've know, there would be a split of the price. Depend on what will happen. It will double, or it will split. Which we all don't know exactly what will happen, so we need to be more observant.

Exactly there are some news coming that explaining the hard forks are coming ahead. Sure if it just comes true, everyone who have any altcoin could fell in loss factory and their dreams would be just broke. So better is to trade all your altcoins with bitcoins so that when the revival comes, bitcoin could stand more firm than altcoins and you will have profits only.

I don't see that the upcoming BCG will likely have the same price when BCH arrived. The hype for those who want BCG is growing everyday resulting for more holders. Because of that, once BCG became available now for trades, expect only a short period and eventually it will crashed unlike in BCH that after such dump, it recovers due to some intentional hypes.

I don't have any strategy for the upcoming fork and will just do my usual way. And besides, most of my bitcoins are on Electrum so I will still get some portions of BCG.

There are so many good news for the ones who are having bitcoin in the coming November. So it is very good option to buy not only your altcoins but other coins as well and buy as many bitcoins as you can for having a very good profit by the end of 2017. There are very much chances that the market price of bitcoin will reach to its maximum limit by the end of this year.

I do swing trading, and I do not have loyalty to a certain coin. I would surely dump BTC when it reached the top, while holding the USDT. I would keep an eye with the price flow, waiting for the right moment to REBUY the BTC at the dip. This time for a greater number of BTC.

You are doing it right. Holding is stupidity. Look I bought Siacoin at 600 sats now its 100 or in 90 sats? They said Hold, but look I lose 500%
Rule of the thumb, if theres an upcoming price rally for BTC. Sell all your alts, and expect a huge dumps everyday.

Once Bitcoin reached the top, sell all your BTC to USDT. Or you can play swing trading with alts.

when people normally say hold, they refer it to holding bitcoin, and not alts, or at least no the shitty ones that their only purpose is to get pumped and dumped. If you go after those coins, then I say trade them to the best of your ability because that's why they are here for. When it comes to bitcoin, I think its completely different, or it should be if you see bitcoin as a future decentralized currency. Is you just see it as a trading asset, and as a way of getting profit, then go ahead and buy and sell.
I want to use bitcoin as an decentralized global currency, and for that I want stability in it's price, and that's why I prefer to buy and hold. But again, I only say that for bitcoin, and not other coins.

I'm not sure it would be a great idea because if your altcoins now are on the lowest and selling them would mean you will buy them again once you've profited from the split you also can't be too sure if the altcoins price you'll buy in will be the same price as it is now. I would prefer holding on to those altcoins for a couple more years and if you have a spare amount of money then invest in Bitcoin because eventually you'll get a free coin after the fork.

check the market price first of alts if its in below their peak price. Im thinking the same thing because this time fork will give a big impact to the crypto nation. Buying bitcoin today will give you a free bitcoin gold after fork. That will be a nice profit if ever.

I've sold most of mine earlier already, but I don't think that it's too late to start selling them now.
Especially with the upcoming fork, people will be looking to sell their altcoins for Bitcoin to get their free Bitcoin Gold.

There are a few exceptions for me though, I'm still holding on to my Ripple for example.

If you are going to sell all your alts now than you are most likely to sell them at a loss as their prices are down and then even if you bought bitcoins which are at $4800 which is high, just to get more free Bitcoin gold after the fork or so called dividend then you better pray that bitcoins price increase like anything to cover up your loss.so I think that it's better to wait and watch.I think it's too risky.
