Looks like many people sell their altcoins for bitcoins and the price of the bitcoins go down. I think that after the hard fork the altcoins will recover.
Bitcoin price is not going down, it actually has a good amount right now, and it rises and continues to rise, so I think it is not a bad idea to sell altcoins to bitcoins. Bitcoin is also a good investment and it has a good future since we are just expected $5000 this Month and it just boost into $5600 price. So I guess it will also reach $6000 by this year. So let us hope and just be patient even hard fork will come. For sure it will still recover after the hard fork.
We cant still be sure if the price would stabilize or consider this 5k range to be the new floor of bitcoins price which i do really believe that price would somehow correct after the fork event. Its not really bad to accumulate bitcoin by selling altcoins but we must be sure we are not on negative side. Its better to hold them than to risk on selling them on loss.
holding it can be a good way but it will only depends if we don't need to sell it for different matters,  so if plan for long term investment then be it

With the upcoming bitcoin fork and the so called "dividend" that will be received thru bitcoin gold the price of BTC is on the rise. I am considering selling all my altcoins, even at a loss, so that i can buy more of them once bitcoin's price rises up higher.

What are your thoughts on this? Would this be a good strategy?

It will be a good strategy for me but its up to your own strategy, follow your feels or guts because at the end of the day it was your money who will be at risk. If your main point is to get some bitcoin gold as you are holding more bitcoin before the fork then its a good move. If you have more risk = more gain of course!

I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but i did same. It is really risky, but i have feeling that this way i will earn more. I was lucky that i didn't lose much by selling my alt coins, you shouldn't sell alt coins for terrible price, you aren't forced to sell all of them.

I don't think you should do that, it's very risky, I would hold for now and wait the end of the fork
yes its really risky who knows when alts will bounce back even btc are showing some downfall we aren't sure when is the timing to hold or sell
our alts its better to keep them on hold instead of trying to sell and rebuy.

Could be a good move, depends on what you are holding.  There will no doubt be a lot of people doing the same thing so the price of alts could go down a good bit ahead of the fork so this might be a good strategy, myself I am just going to hold on to what I have just in case Smiley

I find your strategy a good idea, because I can see the good calculation the possiblity of, if the price or value of bitcoin increases then the value of non btc or alt coin will going tl drop down, that is how crypto balances the circulation of money in this industry. But I think it is  ool if you both put money into.alt coin and some into bitcoin because I can see the win win price and profit from it.

I think this is only appropriate if the price of Bitcoin is rising and if the altcoin is really potential then you should sell half and buy again when the price is lower. I always do that and limit the risk of investing in altcoin
Not every altcoin is highly potential to profit the users who have invested into it. Eliminating the risk of investing into bitcoin is possible by researching and finding the potential altcoin. Else the user needs the patience to keep hold of the coin buying low and for years. This will help with a profiting through trading.

I dont like to sell all my altcoins in a cheaper price and exchange it to bitcoin, all i can do is to hoard all of my stocks altcoins and patienly  waiiting the time that the value of  my alternating coins will increase, for me patience is a virtue, i wanna use my instinct in terms of selling or trading.

It is a very good strategy and I do believe that most of the big traders are currently doing this. Most of the altcoins are currently about half discount and this creates a very big opportunities to get them at a very cheap prices. I have been trading them for a very long time and I  think bitcoin has given them a lot of gap and buying them after bitcoin is at over bought will make you a lot of profits than expected. Ethereum is now picking up little by little as traders who bought bitcoin cheap has started taking profits.

I think that selling all the altcoins is good at this moment because the btc  hardfork will be on 25th.
Its never been good idea to sell all altcoins for only purpose of hardfork keep them because they can give you some better return of investment because they are going to bounce back in near future its just matter of time don't do panic sell and bring yourself in big profit

Most of Altcoin when it goes down it will bounce back upward eventually, even though it will most likely takes some days

Buying bitcoins with this heavy rising is not a good idea in my opinion. Are you sure that Btc gold's value will be enough to cover what you are spending at the moment? Don't think so. Just my opinion of course
That is where the whole decision should be based on right now. No one knows what the BCG value will be once it arrives and it might be terribly little compared to the loss so many people will end up having if they sell their alts at this time now when the dump has been huge for days. However, no one will ever know so to be on the safer side, I feel holding at this stage is just the best decision to make. At this rate though, it is still uncertain how far the alts will keep going down but to me this would only be a lesson to learn.

Regarding on this kind of trade habit i would say it would be a bad idea because potential profits would be only breakeven on the amount you did lose on selling those alts too early.I would rather hold up and if i do have the money i would even more buy cheaper altcoins because if the fork event would be over for sure people would really go back on alts.

The ball is in your court but at this stage, I feel it is too late already for anyone holding their alts right now. The time to sell them have passed and if you are selling now, you are absolutely selling for a huge loss. Unless you know that you are holding some shitty coins with very low chances of recovering quickly after the fork, then I would not suggest you sell them.

They would be bought back and you will still have you win and still get the little share of the BCG from the BTC you are holding. However, like I said, the choice is all yours.

I think it's a good strategy, but there's no guarantee that the price of altcoins will fall lower when the bitcoin price is high, if you want to take that risk your profits may be great.

I agree with your post.
Though one has to keep in mind that the risk of selling at a loss is bigger than hodling or swing trading. (Given that the coin is not shitcoin and so does not die)

Sold some alts myself, to get more when they stop their downtrend.

That's a very bad strategy, I think you should reconsider it, its never a good idea to sell at loss. You are not even aware how much will bitcoin gold be worth. If you decide to sell now, how to do you intend to recover all the loss. I would advice you to hold onto your altcoins and wait for their values to recover and then you will sell.
