Although I had not thought about that possibility, hoping that a miracle would happen in the market so that my asleep altcoins would suddenly come alive and revive, I think your proposal is not a bad idea, because if after two years of having been launched a great number of tokens through ICOs, and their projects are still not crystallized, it is difficult to think that things will change in the medium term, so it is likely that, given the high growth expectations of bitcoin, I might start selling a good amount of my stored shitcoins.

Everyone would've loved to do that but immediately you decide to do that then your consciousness asks you, what if the reverse happens? hehee.. Anything can happen buddy, ALTs won't go down and down forever. No matter what, a reverse will occur and they may bounce back. My only wish is that Bitcoin should stay there (at the top) when this reverse starts to occur and it's gonna be awesome for everyone.

i think the reverse of that is the most safer option now a lot of alt are undervalued in comparison with bitcoin but for sure you need to avoid scam project and choose well good luck Smiley
Converting your shitcoins to bitcoin are the best way to have good money because the price of bitcoin have a better chance to pump. I will not regret selling my altcoins for bitcoin because i know its a good decision. Bitcoin will pump, so have more holdings of it and don’t just let this opportunity be gone for you.

This depends on the potential of the altcoin. So, if you think coins/tokens are not going to make progress in the future, why should you hold? It would be the best choice to get BTC instead.
with the current market conditions it is very difficult choice but as an investor we must be clever in utilizing every opportunity to get profits in investing with crypto currencies that are clever in analyzing every opportunity we will get

well i am 1000% agreed with you.I have sold my crap few weeks ago and got decent amount of bitcoin and already booked some profit but i will hold it for few more months.

maybe you need to hold in few more years, so you can gain more profit by holding your bitcoin my friend
for sure, bitcoin is good for long term investments, maybe after the halving even of bitcoin in the next year, the price could surpass the past highest price my friend
Even though we know how potential is Bitcoin but we aren't sure that its price will be on that top for the coming years.
Long-term holding is not a solution to make more profits but for us to work it well. If we know in trading, then better to make it a way to see more gains rather than to keep on holding for many years.

Hello,
didn't you ask yourself if it is not better to sell all of your low market cappitalization coins (mostly earned in bounty campaigns) and buy more Bitcoins?
Because I do not see any price progress in these altcoins,  like in 2017 bull market when all of these tokens were highly valuable and could make 1000% anytime.
Now most of them seems like dead. And I am asking myself: Now, it is the best time to sell them all and get atleast some Bitcoins?
Imagine that you sell all of your tokens for 1000$ and buy Bitcoin that costs now 5000$.
Imagine that you didn't sell and all of your tokens will still have same value, but Bitcoin will reach new ATH price.

It's not. the halving will give bitcoin only 50% increase as an indicator based on how many blocks halving that will have reduced in the future. Bitcoin will not instantly increase after halving but miners must put more efforts to get bitcoin from the block and this will increase the difficulty that will make the mine will even harder and this create a little inflation that will give a huge impact to the price of bitcoin.

I think your case is that of many investors who believed in a moment in a project that did not meet them, and that you obviously plan to sell, but the sales potential can only be determined by what you have been able to determine in the market according to what have you seen, that is, if in the project of that altcoin have more development prepared, if you plan to list it in a Level 1 Exchange, and if its developers have more features?

This is simple, if you are just for being enthusiastic the price will drop more, because it had its ATH moment and I know it will not return anymore because it will not be listed in a quality exchange, since many times some altcoins survive by Dump and Pump that apply, the rest at this time where all the attention is given to Bitcoin, I do not think that they will return to believe in projects that did not arise due to bad decisions or centralized administrations.

Many projects have come down in this case, have not known the power and channel it to attract new investors, to maintain a project and meet their Whitepaper, if this happens I think it is best to sell, otherwise, you must Do the relevant research and even talk directly with the creators of the project and request information which, you should not deny.

Obviously this is what happens these days as we are seeing a great growth of bitcoin while altcoins remains silent

More altcoin holders are selling their folios and invest all in bit coin without thinking what if this is a trap?you will lose bigger and won't recover by doing such

But how would you predict the future value? It is even hard to say about some small cap coin that has a progress - I simply do not see it, Bitcoin could be used by masses, these small utility tokens probably not.  Roll Eyes
most people do it to catch up with the rising price of bitcoin.
but not with me, the altcoin price that I trade now follows the flow of the bitcoin price volatility, so when bitcoin increases, the altcoin price that I have also increases. so I don't force to sell my altcoin with low capitalization just to get bitcoin.

I am having the same question. I have lots of coin which worth very low and has a very low market cap. Should i sell them all to have a little bit more btc or should i wait for an alt party or a surprise 100x even 1000x from one of them? A hard choice really.

It is not possible to see a bull run in the price of tokens as it were in 2017, because 2017 was when we had a lot of tokens being created in the market and then investors cared less about what they offer but the profit they could make within a short period of time, though we have now seen a correction in the market which have separated the good tokens/coins from the bad once, this is why we saw the price of so many coin in the market go so low never to recover.

Selling such low market cap altcoins for BTC is not necessarily a good idea, you should do it if there is really no hope for those coins. In that case, I would rather sell for ETH because it has crashed as much as trash coins.

This is not a bad variant for a "lazy" holder. Bitcoin is the cryptocurrency that regulates the price of the other altcoins, so that, if you have it, you can be always in plus as sooner or later, BTC will go up.

I would better buy Ethereum as it does not matter that this cryptocurrency fell. It did not crash: the project is alive and the changes happen constantly.
We see the movement - it does not sleep, it is not going to die or to be closed. the team is excellent. As for the trash coins or shitcoins, it is better to get rid of them. The sooner you will do it, the better.

Do it based on what you think is right.
For me, I think selling it is not a good idea, low marketcap means price is undervalued and there is no liquidity in exchange.
I'd rather hold it and wait until project improve and get develop, I have a lot of cheap coins which are in small exchange, but I'm hoping one day it will pump.
They will surely pump there is no absolutely any doubt about that, but if you have been studying how these markets has been operating in the past, you will see that most of them only follow uptrend when bitcoin consolidate, have you not noticed that all these increase in bitcoin, majority of them have not responded by even 0.1%, they are not doing so because it is not yet their time, so one can play the 2 games, withdraw them now and put in bitcoin for the price to multiply, which you will still get the value back when you get a sign  that they are about going on their own bull run.

Your idea is really nice and I think some people are already doing this, last week. I sold 50% of my tokens that has entered exchange to buy bitcoin, I know that before we enter altcoins season, bitcoin would have risen to a very big level that even if I decide to pull the investment out of bitcoin, to buy the alts again, it would have doubled the initial amount I pulled out.

I too don’t see the reason why one should keep holding on to those coins that has refused to increase along with bitcoin rise, although I am aware that this is not their season yet, so this your idea should really be taken serious by most alt investors.

If I assume that half of my assets will die, some alts will not rise in price, then I will still hold everything I have. Those assets that will be more expensive, compensate for all dead and cheap projects. Bitcoin can rise in price many times. But some altcoins have much more potential. What exactly, I do not know. Therefore, I hold everything until victory or defeat.
