you should never hold coins like that to want to make a decision about selling them or not. specially if you gathered them through airdrops it is 100% mandatory that you sell them as soon as you can because we all know the airdrop coins, ICOs, bounties,...  always fall down as soon as they are listed on exchanges.

the only case when they become a viable investment is if they are during a pumping day. in which case if you can catch that kind of pump you can gain a lot of profit because these small cap coins are always getting big pumps unlike the big market cap coins that barely rise 10%

in my experience you shouldn't hold any of the altcoins under any circumstances because the best case scenario for an altcoin in the long run is that it rises but the rise is not going to ever be as big as bitcoin rise in the long run so in that "best case scenario" you lot a lot of opportunities.

but in 90% of the altcoins you won't get that best case scenario. instead you will get the worst case scenario which is that altcoin loses value and continues going down so every day that you hold it you will lose more and more money.

altcoins are only best for short term trading during their pumps.
I did not get to know about this strategy on time before my altcoins went down very low in value and they are so low that it is better I just keep them there and be watching them, because the vale they are not when converted to fiat is not something to be proud of, but I can just say that it is something I can just pull from my pocket easily to invest directly in Bitcoin.

If I still get any campaign that pays and would enter exchange, I would not make the mistake of holding them again, but another challenge is still the ones that have not entered exchange ever since I got them, those ones would not be easy to change to Bitcoin since it cannot yet be sold.

True, selling / exchanging altcoins into Bitcoin means that you stopped believing in altcoins and you would like to hold Bitcoin only.
While trading means speculating among all cryptocurrencies, you do not matter what you hold in your wallet currently.  Cool

I'm happy that you are starting to see that you should convert all of your alts into bitcoin. You are in the right path if you are considering of doing it immediately. As you said, most of these altcoins are starting to be dead if all of those came from bounty campaigns. Don't regret because you're doing the right thing, having bitcoin is the greatest choice of an investor on this market because if you're not going to do it, you will have that greatest regret whenever you see bitcoin reach new ATH.

i think its can be right and can be wrong too
because, in my opinion bitcoin price will hit ATH in 2020,
so at this moment this is the best time to collect more bitcoin, by trading your altcoins not only convert
What's the difference of trading and converting? you are converting when you are trading. Trading of altcoins means that you are converting it to another one like bitcoin. I can't understand or what's probably the wrong that I've said of labeling 'not only convert'. With your opinion that we can probably see bitcoin ATH by 2020, let's hope that it will actually happen. I'm also eyeing for that year to be one of the best again but this year, we're already seeing on how positive the next years will be.

convert is only sell your altcoins for bitcoin, thats it  Wink
but in my understanding trading is sell your altcoins in higher price for bitcoin then, buy again your altcoins in lower price, so when the price of your altcoins rising you can sell it and get an enouogh profit in bitcoin my friend, thats mean you already increase your bitcoin amount  Wink

Selling such low market cap altcoins for BTC is not necessarily a good idea, you should do it if there is really no hope for those coins. In that case, I would rather sell for ETH because it has crashed as much as trash coins.

I also see many altcoins as highly speculative assets that their future is unpredictable and more and more people stopped believing in altcoins - you can see it now, Bitcoin is raising its dominance.

form the past bitcoin already dominance in market capitalizations of cryptocurrencies
why ? of course because bitcoin is the first crypto in this world my friend,,
and i think a good decision if the OP convert his low marketcap token or coin to bitcoin for now

Hello,
didn't you ask yourself if it is not better to sell all of your low market cappitalization coins (mostly earned in bounty campaigns) and buy more Bitcoins?
Because I do not see any price progress in these altcoins,  like in 2017 bull market when all of these tokens were highly valuable and could make 1000% anytime.
Now most of them seems like dead. And I am asking myself: Now, it is the best time to sell them all and get atleast some Bitcoins?
Imagine that you sell all of your tokens for 1000$ and buy Bitcoin that costs now 5000$.
Imagine that you didn't sell and all of your tokens will still have same value, but Bitcoin will reach new ATH price.

Well, on some potential altcoins, it shall worth the risk vs reward
Bitcoin has a capped price increment. ($5,000 to $20,000 is 4x)

But for minor altcoins/low marketcap coins ($0.01 > $0.05 is 5x and it is easier to do that compare to Bitcoin) - Not because of it's price, but its marketcap

But how would you predict the future value? It is even hard to say about some small cap coin that has a progress - I simply do not see it, Bitcoin could be used by masses, these small utility tokens probably not.  Roll Eyes

Need A Campaign Manager? | Contact Little_Mouse
If I'm getting any rewards in bounty campaigns a year ago, I always sell around 60-80% of my total rewards into Bitcoin so that I can secure my profit and hold the remaining in case there is a continuous development of the project and if the token will bloom in the future then I can sell it at a higher price. There is some risk on it but its ok for me.

Whenever I get tokens in campaigns, I always see if the team is active or there is a development in the project. I can sense too if the token will be a dead coin in the future or not. The best choice is to sell a huge percentage of it and then hold the remaining.

If they are already dead there is no point in dumping right now. I am a btc guy but even I do hold some dead shitcoins. (No more than $100 from these dead prices)

What I got now used to be worth more than $2k and now it is barely $100. $100 won't make a difference if I buy btc with it but on the other hand that $100 is like a lottery ticket if keep it in alts.

Your situation might be different. If you got thousands of dollars in shitcoins it is probably a good idea to sell some since you shouldn't have owned them in the first place.

that is the safest thing to do with your alts acquired from bounty campaign, selling it whatever the price is and then buy bitcoins and store it to your safe and secured wallet. Because most of the time those alts are no longer to had a good price so it is better to stake it to a much stable coin in the market.

I agree, most value of altcoins in satoshi are slowly declining. Its better to convert it for now in bitcoin. We are now experiencing a bullrun.
i still think there are many coins that are still worthy to hold like new altcoins have good platform and supported by famous exchanges, they surely have the big chance to be pumped in the future, so you can sell all the useless altcoins or too old altcoins without any better progress into BTC when we can still have profit when BTC is still rising every month.

It depends on your altcoin that earned in bounty campaigns, if you think your token have a future and their team is very active then go hold that token. In the other hand, you think that your token have no future and their team is all about talk without developments then dump your token and buy some valuable coins like bitcoin.
