Yeah I think heat is the issue. All my 2014's oc'd do .00x HW errors. the 2013's throw mega errors because they refuse to spin the fans more than 2100 rpm.
My longest running one right now is 9days 19hours 122,280 HW 40,161,291 diffa 42,943 diffr 35,202 discarded 339 rejected fan 2640 44C/42C with puller fan

even though those errors are low, my mindset is these need to not break down and heat is the #1 reason they will break down.

Yip, the problem is that the standard ant cooling is not designed for overclocking, it's designed to work at 350Mhz, any overclocking definitely needs extra cooling and if your fans won't go over 2100rpm as you mention then it sucks, even at standard speeds. Another problem is that the heat sensor is in the middle of the pcb when clearly the back end will be the hottest so the readings are also very generalized as people have shown with infrared photos.

Not sure how much space you have, but I found this to be most effective; with fans on the outside blowing on the chips: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4920949

One (2014) sits at 39^oC, fans around 2000rpm and .55% HW errors, the other (2013) doesn't like to go over 387,5Mhz, with the fan at 720rpm and temps at 40^oC and 1% HW but that's one's another story...

P.S. I now actually have 5 extra fans per miner, 4 on the sides and one pulling out front... those are old photos.

Nick, you will need to SSH on your miner and manually disable NTP.

Download Putty to do this.

Thanks, but I just need it temporary for a few weeks til I get another dedicated psu.. also currently looking at server psu's and other options to power multiple antminers.

I'm pretty sure you need to turn them on at the same time or the second blade might not register on boot up, I'm not sure if it's plug and play. I did run a miner from 2 power supplies in the past and had no issues.

Thus it's a DNS/Router/Firewall problem since "3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org" isn't a bad address:
# host 3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org
3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org has address 121.0.0.41
3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org has address 128.184.34.53
3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org has address 202.127.210.36
3.openwrt.pool.ntp.org has address 202.191.108.72

Yeah, try to ping from the Network tab in the gui... if you can't ping then you have no internet connection.

The problem is that even if you disable ntp in the gui, it still tries to run it once on boot up. You shouldn't need ssh for doing a standard setup, there's no need to learn that yet, you'll only need that to overclock or do more advanced things.

Edit: you can also try giving your router a reboot, sometimes mine gets stuck...

When I ping openwrt.org I just get a 'bad address' message

When I ping 121.0.0.41 or the other addresses I get :

ping: sendto: Network is unreachable

I have reset the router,rebooting the system dozens of times and tried additional DNS and NTP servers or disabling them in system tab.
I am new to much of the networking so It's possible everything isn't configured correctly but I have tried all options I know how.

Hi Nick,

Can you check all of your network settings?

IP address
subnet mask
ip default router <--- very important that this is in the same subnet as your IP address
ip broadcast
DNS custom 8.8.8.8 <--- name resolution. very important as well.

sounds like you have ip default router/gateway issue if you're not able to ping to the "internet"

The control board is essentially a customized network router running the open source router OpenWrt. That's why you see some network interfaces in the web UI that don't have corresponding hardware connections on the control board like eth0. It's also why you configure the S1's connection via WAN setup instead of LAN.

will a power supply function function if the 20+4 connector isnt plugged to a motherboard?
ie: powering a miner, out of case, doesnt two of the plugs on the connector need to be jumpped?
dumb question, im sure, but every psu ive dealt with so far has been to a mobo.

These are what I have, but I know there are other frequencies out there. The 375MHz was in the manual but not in the default asic-freq file. The 393.75MHz I found here in one of the threads...

Hi,
a short question.

You don't have to have ntp enabled in order for it to hash, just deselect the option and save and apply. I then suggest switching the ant off and on again so it boots up from scratch and that should take care of the problem...

Sometimes saving doesn't work very well and you need to click save and then click on the red text in the top right which brings you to a screen listing the changes... then click save and apply.

Edit: if it hangs on updating cgminer, you can wait for a minute and switch it off and on and the setting should be saved... I suggest switching ntp off first.

He will still need to SSH to it.
And depending on his Ant version there is a slight difference (from v1.4 to v1.5).

Thanks for the replies, I've disabled NTP in System Tab and rebooted but still the same error.
Sometimes it has the gcminer error at the end, sometimes multiple of the same cgminer errors, sometimes just the daemon...error.
I will need help with SSH, I don't know it at all.

Hi Nick, did you upgrade the firmware? I think upgrading the firmware fixes it.
