I sense looking for a problem where there be no problem. If women are not interested they are not interested,no need to balance the playing field when any one can grab bitcoin and women decided it was not for them. This need to make bitcoin a representation of society is a fools game and not something we should be encouraging unless you are wanting to go down the P.C route.

Why to assume that this can't be an error? CoinDesk is not the highly professional newspaper others are.

Who is that girl at all? Maybe only a moderator? Then it would not be needed to put her in the list of important bitcoin persons...

This is a cropped photo and the thread owner is trying to make sexist comments. Not welcome at all!!

Who said women don't use bitcoin? There are many but not necessarily we all need to know that.

keep calm and accumulate Bitcoin for your future. You don't need to be expert in everything.

Agree, the  OP may has his/her own agenda, way to much fuss about nothing.
As a matter of fact, there are other photoes, many photoes out there, why pick this one?

i think you are overthinking the situation. this is more like a shitty photographer's fault than Coindest releasing this photo with the purpose of removing the woman out of the photo, and it doesn't look like a photoshopped picture either.
No matter how shitty the photographer is, the editor still has eyes and can see the woman is cut out.

Women do not use Bitcoin? Strange to hear. After all, women love shopping! Maybe there simply a lack of information in these matters.
As for my friends women, they say that simply do not understand all these vessels associated with cryptocurrency.

There is similar theme "How to motivate women to use Bitcoin?"

Why make so much fuss about a photo? There are other views there. Maybe that is not just the good view that is taken. Or the camera man wants to focus on someone else. Or maybe his hands are shaky.  Tongue

I am sure publisher is not intended to leave lady out, her name is still there.
I think OP read to much from an innocent photo. It is dangerous going down this route, and bring up African, Spanish, LGBT etc etc

I agree that it looks careless at the very least but I suspect that this was more a screw-up than conscious malice. Worthy of attention but not outrage I think

I too think this to be a mistake while capturing the snap. If they could have thought in that manner they could have never published this image.

One photo does not make them disrespectful towards women. I doubt if this was even done with the intent to be rude towards that lady. Some people are a little sensitive about small issues and things like this is hardly noticed, because it's rather an exception than a rule.

I challenge OP or whomever else, to find more examples of this to substantiate the claims being done here. ^hmmm^

It is only hardly noticed by sexist pigs who don't want women to participate.  I think it is a glaring announcement - not 'hardly noticed'.

RawDog you are pissing on the wrong tree. I have a wife and daughter heavily involved with Bitcoin and if you browse through any of my previous posts on the topic, you would find that I aggressively support women participating in Bitcoin. My ultimate goal would rather be, not to make this a gender issue at all, and to concentrate on the stuff that really matters.

We have loads of ladies in our weekly meetups and they enjoy the same attention than every man there. We just avoid making issues of every little thing, and rather discuss Bitcoin matters. ^smile^

"At least women are represented by her shoes and feet, but there is ZERO representation for niggers, spics, gooks, zips, etc..."

No.  I never said anything like that you moron.  I think there are already way, way too many zips in Bitcoin.

Shit, did I leave the stove on?
BitPesa is an African payment and trading platform and it's obvious that the hosts of this panel made it clear that this fine lady doesn't have any importance for the discussion by placing her on the very bottom of that list. I would like to point out that she is the CEO of BitPesa and this photo is taken from her Twitter. She is very good-looking btw  Wink

That's what you sound like.

Why don't we remove political correctness from Bitcoin entirely?

Personally, I don't care what gender, religion, race, nationality, nor creed anyone has who adopts Bitcoin.

I've been trying to get women and men on-baord Bitcoin since 2012. No women that I know have been interested at all... until Bitcoin started gaining in value. That tells me all I need to know about women and Bitcoin. It's boring to them or to risky to even consider... until it becomes valuable and massively adopted so they risk little.

PS - You're a moron.

I wouldn't rush to judgement yet, for all we know the image was one they found online or through some other third-party. If someone can find the original photo at some point with evidence she was cropped out (not saying she wasn't but we have very circumstantial evidence) then I'd be more inclined to believe that CoinDesk is at fault.

They published it.  Doesn't matter where it came from or how it was manipulated.  It is so clearly disrespectful to the lady with the shoes in photo to be excluded from the panel.
