I believe to donate at least 10% to those that need help. I've decided to help those in need in my community, not some government run charity that you never see. There are a lot of suffering all around us, and it's due to circumstances out of our control.
They've done a study and it was a proofed that it gives people greater joy to give, than to receive.Just think about that.

There is much blessing in giving than receiving. That's why givers never lack. Some have no parents and find themselves in the orphanage. Donating something to them gives them reasons to smile and feel loved
It depends on your conviction, to give out of love not out of what is left over, it's one thing to give but it's another to love- giving.. you can share your bitcoin profit to any institution you choose to, sharing your blessing is some kind of fulfillment too, the joy and peace it bring is much more than the money you share. I am not sure but when i'm sharing something with others i'm feeling myself better and those emotion making me share again and again. If you feeling the same way so keep going 
If you want to help someone i would suggest the children and olders from Africa. Once i saw a videoclip with a child who suffered by thirst. Till then i didn't imagine that such things are possible so pls, invest in water in this kind of areas.

I super support that. Although in the world utopia I think the best way to donate is to give your time, so work for an institution, as some said already. There's so much to learn instead of giving only the money away.

Learn to give, give. To avoid losses in life, there is one proven method. You need to learn to give in time to the world around you. And not necessarily money. It can be physical help and moral support. You can share knowledge and positive experiences. It can be just joy or love, the warmth of your soul. Find a needy person in this world and start helping him completely unselfishly.

Well if you tons of money then it won't hurt to help other people, you can even start your own foundation and charity of your choice. I'm pretty sure you'll be able help a lot of people sick or not, orphan or old people. I always believe in the saying sharing is caring, so just like you i always try to help whenever i can.
Of course, not because it's great and makes you a better person, but mainly because it makes other people feel good. Imagine a situation when you needed something but you did not have. Something that played an essential part in your life. I know many people did not have a chance to go to a better school because they did not have money for that. So why not giving them a hand and help realizing their dreams? Another example, when someone needs money to finance his/her kid's healthcare. Even $10 or $15 can be a big assistance for them. So why not to do that when we have the means?
I remember my friend's sister had cancer few years ago, so all of us dedicated some time out of studies to go to the streets and ask for sponsorship from random organizations and companies. We managed to collect all the money and financed the surgery and medication for her. If we were to act alone, it would not work, but all of the small efforts combined made a difference. The same with charity, you can donate even $1 (very small amount of money), but it will make a big difference!
So I will use this space and encourage people to do that, because it pays back quite often!

Guys, a lot of us make money on trading and sometimes there's an excess that you don't need. Do you think it's a good idea to donate part of the profits to charity? Whom would you suggest helping first?
Your idea is good if you have extra money then give it to people that have sick or the disabled person so that they have money to buy their medicine. Many disabled person is poor and cannot buy their maintenance medicine thats why their illness is getting worst, so would suggest that give a sickness person or a disabled person.
i always do donate some when i meet some charity people in the street that want few cents to eat something
Be careful about the beggars. If possible, please don't give them money. Rather, try to help them by providing them food or medicine. If you give them money, then they are most likely to use them to purchase booze and drugs. And here in India, there is an organized begging mafia which rakes in hundreds of USD in profits every day per beggar.
